Amaite Holbox - Oceanfront Hotel

A very cosy hotel with about 20 rooms. The rooms are tidy and well kept. All rooms face the pool and ocean.
The pool area is spacious and there are alot of sunbeds to choose from. And just a couple of steps you stand in the ocean.
The restaurant is pretty good, they have alot to choose from so everyone was happy.
The continental breakfast isnt very good and the coffee is more like tea so I guess its more for americans than europeans!
But the location is 5/5, I dont think there is a better location on Holbox. Close to the beach and all the restaurants and shops in the city.
Only thing that bothered us was the handling of small vouchers for breakfast. We spent 8 nights here and every morning we had to hand over a voucher for our breakfast before we could eat. Same staff so I think ghat they would remember us. I guess its a manegement issue not a staff issue. As a guest you have 20% in the restaurant if you pay cas — 10% if you pay by card. But hou have a special voucher for this to! So the voucher thing is a little crasy!
I would come back!

Correction**
Unfortunately I had to regrade this place to two stars because they charged 70$MX extra for refilling my coffe even if I specifically asked BEFOREHAND.
No matter what, they did not inform me but just charged me. In essence you will pay over 150$MX for coffe here. What bothers me is not the cost but the poor communication and sneaking in a 80% markup. Please watch out if you are mindful of your money, clarity in communication and business service. //
I only had breakfast. They gave me refills on the coffe. The price of the coffe is around 80$Mx. It is about 30% higher than anywhere else. It is not a bad It place for restaurant.

Well, what to say it’s a hotel on the beach, but the beach itself isn’t the best. The room was very basic and small, though the sea views were nice. I didn’t really enjoy the overall vibe here. The staff were friendly, but they seemed to focus more on outside customers coming for lunch or dinner than on actual guests. The biggest downside is the price, which feels totally overpriced. I’ve been to Holbox several times and there are definitely better options for the same money. For me, it’s a solid 3 stars.

We spent 3. Nights at this wonderful hotel in a 2-bedroom suite. The room was very spacious, clean and, to our surprise, had 2 bathrooms. Each room had a good A/C unit which was very welcome in August. The room is situated on the edge of the beach and has its own little ‘garden’ with sun beds. We preferred the beds on the beach which is only a few steps away.
The service on the beach is very good, drinks and food were easy to get. The hotel also has a restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. The included breakfast was nice: fruits, toast and a choice of eggs. The options for lunch and dinner were OK, but were limited, especially since not everything on the menu was actually available. Luckily, there are many alternative restaurants within walking distance.
The hotel is situated in the center of the vibrant village. During the day it is nice to shop at the many little shops nearby, at night the town comes to life and several nice bars and restaurants are close by. It’s also easy to get a taxi or rent a golf cart to visit other parts of the island. Even though the hotel is situated close to the nightlife we were never bothered by it in our hotel room.
The staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. One of our family members celebrated their birthday and the hotel helped to make festive decorations and supplied a beautiful birthday cake. Special mention also goes out to Jessica who was recommended to us by the hotel.

Great hotel to stay couple of days, hotel is not too big. Christiaan on the beach is a great guy who works hard to get you served. Rooms are ok and everything you need is there. We had a problem with the toilet and this was fixed quickly. The breakfast is served (not buffet) and is great with all you need to start the day. Beach is cleaned daily and the sunset view is amazing.

Great location, wish it had a pool. Very nice helpful staff and one of the best places to watch the sunset, rooms were small but adequate. The water temperature and pressure could have been a lot better and the bed wasn't comfortable, but again the location was everything!

One of the best spots on Isla Holbox. Even when I wasn’t staying here I’d come everyday for the breakfast right on the beach. Picture perfect, delicious coffee and the Salmon toast. Mmmmmm.

This is a very decent 3* hotel, with really good value for money. Their beach is lovely, pretty big and with not too many but still enough sun beds, so it doesn’t feel crowded at all. The included breakfast is sweet only so we went out for breakfast because we love us some savory breaky. But there is enough really good breakfast places around. The rooms are at a high standard for a 3* hotel. Everything is in good shape, the lights are sufficient and make a nice atmosphere, there is more than enough storage room, which I love, the aircon is super new, silent and installed in a way that it doesn’t blow in your face when sleeping. The beds are not the biggest, but average hard and thus should be comfy for everyone. So are the pillows. The view from the balcony is insane and the bathroom is new and stylish. Sometimes the water pressure is not ideal, but that’s a general island problem and I even managed to wash my thick hair with it. The cleaning staff is doing an excellent job, knowing exactly which towels to exchange and cleaning thoroughly. The drinks on the beach are average, but staff are doing their best. At happy hour 5-7pm you get 2 for 1, so 4, 50€ a drink, which is super fair. The staff regularly passes by the sunbed, asking if you need anything. The food for lunch is very decent and you can have it directly at your sunbed. In the evenings there is good live music, just in time for happy hour and sunset. Generally, this is the best location for the sunset.

The overall experience at this property was unforgettable but for the wrong reasons, you can get best value for your money at similar properties close by. The management needs a serious overhaul if wants to provide a proper service according to the prices it charges.
The cons:
— Toilet didn’t flush, we asked for it to be repaired, they didn’t ask for the room number and if took two days for it to be fixed, we had to use a bucket for flushing.
— There were two days with an electricity cut, but just on the rooms, not on the restaurant open to the outside; one of the times the front desk staff laughed at us for being worried there was no electricity.
— One of the days when electricity was cut there was also no water; furthermore, water pressure was low all the time.
— It smelled like rotten eggs all the time, even when outside it was smelling fine. To cover that, they had a humidifier with essential oils, despite it being extremely humid.
— The beach was unusable as it always smelled like rotten eggs despite beaches further north not smelling, thus it not being related to sargassum.
— Breakfast was miserable and you had to pay extra to get any sort of protein, like eggs (unless you count the quarter cup yogurt), or any coffee other than plain american.
— Breakfast staff was more worried about asking for tips and explaining how you can leave tips than with serving or explaining how breakfast worked.

Pleasant hotel right by the beach with rooms overlooking the sea. The rooms were clean and cozy, but the humidity was really high.
Unfortunately, the reason I only give 3 stars is the hotel beach. The beach was full of seaweed that had evidently been there for days because it was rotten and smelled really bad! We saw that there was a seaweed problem on the whole island, but most of the other hotels have done pretty good job cleaning it, unlike this one. It’s really unfortunate when you have to look at (and smell) piles of rotten seaweed during your stay. But aside this problem, we had a pleasant stay.

Best beach Club in Holbox. We were here for 10 days waiting for various offspring to arrive, separately. So we tried them all. This one was easily the best. Excellent food. Pizzas best on the island. Aguachile lovely. Staff utterly adorable and very very efficient and diligent. Shout out to Eric and Raul. Made it such a lovely place to spend a day. Miss it.

Wonderful place! The rooms are the closest to the beach. Great for relaxation. The service was excellent! They even came to your private beach area by your room to take care of you. The food was delicious and large portions. Can't wait to go back!

This hotel is amazing. Pristine beach, clear water, nicest staff, Great food (even too much! ) … I have spent a week and loved every minute. At 5p happy hour starts and live music at 6, 30 is Great. You can Watch the Sunset as all locals do and meet so many nice people. The room are the largest on the ISLAND, I Learned from YT, the space outside the room is private and large, Direct at Sea. TOURS, walks, horsebackrides, Great dining on the dock, smiles… I loved every minute. If you want to relax and enjoy your holiday Away from the crazy of Cancun or Playa or Tulum… THIS IS THE SPOT. Also not many know about it, mostly European tourists and so much to do, or relax with a book… You can really have it ALL… I love it! I Will be back.

Great hotel, we had the suit with a balcony on the beach it was ideal with kids. The breakfast was included and very generous, eggs, toast, fruits, jam and yogurt with coffee and juice. The trims were simple but clean and they came everyday to tidy up. I would go again every year.

We had a huge problem at the sister hotel of Amaité and thankfully got moved here — by a massive stroke of luck — into their Presidential Suite, as it was available.
Honestly this was one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in with a private sun deck, gorgeous view over the beach, huge bathroom and massive comfy bed.
The hotel restaurant is incredible and without doubt the food is some of the very best you’ll get on Holbox. We are chefs ourselves and couldn’t believe the quality.
But the best bit about Amaité is the staff. They are all so friendly, helpful, kind and made our holiday just magic. Special shoutout to Stefan the Maitre d’ who runs the show so well and was great to us all week.
The beach bit is beautiful here and you are right in the centre of Holbox town. It is noisy at night which wasn’t a problem for us but if you like peace and quiet then stay further out of town.
Absolutely loved Hotel Amaité and can’t wait to come back!

Very nice restaurant Staff, good cocktails and breakfast. Unfortunately rooms a very loud from bars next door but also the water pump. You can hear it work whenever someone in the complex turns a tap on. Also they are renovating and could hear someone with a metal grinder at 9pm. We didn’t get much sleep so checked out early. They offered no compensation. Unfortunately rooms weren’t clean either, floor and walls dirty when we checked in. The view from our room over the beach was really nice. Holbox itself is super nice. Also booked and paid for a private tour from the staff at reception but when we arrived there were there people. I Wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
