Well located. But too expensive for what it offers. Dirty and with pettibed beds. I don't recommend it. Very friendly staff, them perfect.

It is a beautiful hotel in the heart of San Miguel Allende, it is very welcoming, although the attention is a little misguided by some employees. I had the misfortune to stay in a room that had problems with the evacuation system of a toilet and there was no effective solution about it. If you paid more attention to these little details, I would definitely give 5 stars.
The location of the hotel is extraordinary.

Awesome roof top terrace. Nice staff. Hot water is issue in shower for morning but but that was only problem.

Location can't be better. Is located right at the Jardín, but there's a lot to be desired regarding cleanliness.

Excelente hotel. Justo en el centro, lo unico seria la privacidad, pareciera que fue algun tipo de hacienda y los cuartos tiene ventanas que solo cubres con cortinas pero si se esmeran pueden ser observados desde recepcion. De ahi en fuer excelente estadia no tuve ningun problema, la cama muy comoda.

Nice place and close to downtown.

This hotel does not offer refunds even if there is a major family illness, as was our case. This Hotel cares more about profit than human feelings.

Excellent location in the heart of San Miguel. If you take your car the valet parking passes you one block from the place.

This very nice hotel the only one but I put it are the stairs if you come with older people it is difficult to go up or down the stairs. In general it is very well cleaned and the decor very nice.
I'll definitely be back.

The room was nice and clean. The hotel is right next to the main plaza in the center of town. Breakfast is included and was excellent. I loved it and not to expensive.

Excellent downtown location. My room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were helpful with information about the area and things to do. Would definitely stay here again.

Located just in front of the main square, and next to the cathedral is this hotel, which offers not only rest but also a space to enjoy family. The rooms are fantastic, very well organized, and the attention of the staff is outstanding. It's really one of the best options to stay in San Miguel de Allende. Recommended at 100%

The location is worth it. You can probably find more affordable rooms in San Miguel, but the city centre is in the hotel. And that's it, it's just a matter of going down the lobby stairs and you're in the heart of San Miguel.
They have parking service in the C of someone takes your car to the place. Very reliable and the people are always very friendly.
Highly recommended, nice and comfortable.
If you come don't forget to visit the terrace they have on the top floor.

Better rooms than others. Better order the Jr. Suite.

Everything good but if you have car it is complicated since there is no parking.

Upset they wouldn't do the romantic package we requested due to not enough personnel on a certain day, when we asked if we could do it the following day they simply said no.

Comfortable hotel in a perfect location on one of the main squares in San Miguel. It has a great view from a small roof terrace on the top floor. The rooms are nice and the service very good. Just be aware that the church across the square rings it's bells every quarter of an hour from about 6am!

Terrible experience. The staff was not in the hotel when we were coming back from dinner. A customer had to open the door from us. Security is not a thing they care about. Do not come here!

The staff and rooms in this hotel are nice, but DO NOT stay in a room at the back of the property — there is a salsa bar right behind the hotel which is open until 3am every day. It's so loud it feels like the band is in my room and between songs I can hear people's conversations. It's impossible to sleep in this part of the hotel — if you book a room check where it is first, unless you're intending to party all night. Hotel del Portal — please invest in sound proofing.

Some of the rooms have the best views towards the square main and the Cathedral.

Great view of the city. Clean room with good AC at a Great price. The roof balcony is awesome. The Room is great. Those that can't do stairs need to find another hotel. The morning bells from the church will wake you.

This place is right in the square, overlooking the beautiful Gothic style church. For its location, the price was much cheaper than most airbnb advertised accommodation nearby. We hadn't pre-booked, so when we arrived we had already parked up elsewhere. But they collected our car from the carpark, took it to there's, got our bags from the boot/trunk and left them in our room. Excellent service. Excellent location. Excellent price.

Great Hotel Del Portal in San Miguel de Allende, perfectly clean, responsive caring staff, free Wi-Fi, good continental breakfast. I was there last year. It is a very trendy hotel with a great room design. I love the bed. But if you are nearby the roof-top bar you will hear the music until late night. Very good music but if you need to sleep early reserve a room on the lower floors. That's the cause for the missing 5th star. I will come over again.

The advertising for this hotel is misleading and false. Even though we rang through for a booking there was no mention of the steep stairs leading to the first of two floors which the hotel occupies of a heritage listed buidling. The photos on the website don't show the real hotel but look as if it is a gracious building on the central square. Our experience should have been a positive one for us and it was anything but. We were dismayed at the hotel (dirty foyer) the unwelcoming attitude of the receptionist staff, and the quality of the rooms. We would have moved if we could have but because our credit card had been required at the time of booking we were told that no reimbursement was possible and that we would be charged in full for the two rooms whether we occupied them or not. Future guests BEWARE of this trick. Do not book without viewing the rooms first! One room had no ventialation, no natural light, was smelly and opened on to the foyer, which limited its privacy. The worst experience came during the night when an adjacent room was occupied by two girls entertaining two "gentlemen". This turned into an ugly noisy and unpleasant experience for us all. Our complaints the following morning led to a comfrontation for us with a most unsympathetic, aggressive and rude staff member: "Diana". She did not listen to what we had to say, instead finding a way to blame us!

REAL DISGUSTING! Stairs to kill arriving in a dirty lobby, ugly, without windows and light rooms stink! SUPER expensive and a receptionist (DIANA), more vulgar than a carretonera. I know that it is a "pay per event" where the scandal of the hot couples wake up to morning. Do not go with family! Doesn't complain by the scandal or the dirt or the price because even so, the receptionist Diana charged 100% of the cost on your credit card but not to stay overnight. This receptionist who calls the police to take you because "the guest gives problems with its complaints" is so arrogant! Go to the Portal Hotel in San Miguel? Get ready for this woman, their arrogance, vulgarity, profanity and bad faces and awful facilities. The good one was the bell boy dying of others worth to see what guests were friendly and the receptionist.

It is a magical place that inspires the rest and relaxation, is just fascinating to be there.
