AM Hostel

I stayed at AM Hostel in Malta for a week with my classmates as part of a school trip to improve our English. In our case, the rooms were clean, and we were given fresh towels. Yes, the hostel had strict rules about not smoking or drinking on the balcony or inside the rooms, and there were fines for breaking these rules—but I think that’s fair and expected in shared accommodation. Personally, I found the experience decent overall, and I had a good time living there.
That said, the hostel staff weren’t very welcoming. Most of them looked tired or uninterested, and there wasn’t much warmth in their attitude. But considering it’s a two-star hotel with a low price, I believe you can’t expect luxury service. The best part was the location—very close to the sea and to the city centre. So, in my opinion, it’s a good option if you’re looking for something affordable and simple.

To be fair, the rooms are quite clean, the facilities are complete, and it’s quiet at night for sleeping.
But there are some very odd things:
1. You need help from Reception to get in and out of the building, since the front door is always locked. One afternoon around 2pm, there was no one at Reception, and we had to wait outside for about 20 minutes after continuing ringing the bell.
2. On the third morning at around 10:30 am, a staff member knocked and came into our room to take severals photos of the room and bathroom with her phone, saying it was hotel policy. We’ve never had that happen before at any other place we’ve stayed.
3. Check-in and check-out were both pretty slow. At check-out, Reception had to check the room before returning the deposit. If you’re in a hurry or catching a flight, it’s a good idea to leave some extra time—maybe 30 minutes.

Our experience with AM Hostel in Malta was very disappointing. We planned to stay for a week but left after one night. The room was filthy, with an unclean toilet and hair everywhere. The entire building had a strong, unpleasant odor.
Communication with the staff was terrible. The air conditioning could only be controlled through the reception, which was very inconvenient. We didn't receive room keys, so we couldn't enter our room on our own. Additionally, when we sat on the beds, they felt like they were about to collapse.
After deciding to leave, we were only refunded €270 out of the original €640. The staff had constant excuses and couldn’t give us a satisfactory explanation.
This was a very unpleasant experience, and I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone. We found much better accommodation immediately after leaving AM Hostel and had no further issues.

I have been a client of Amigos for LONG years now, since the beginning. Today I visited your Sliema restaurant, as Always with you I'm not only Satisfied but EXTREMELY SATISFIED with the quality of food, the attitude of the FANTASTIC staff who went over & above to make sure all was well (sorry but don't know there names but 18th June at 14.00 & you know who was working there). I'd like to thank you ALL for the service. I must add that the staff today we're SUPERB & Really worked as a team (I observed how they worked as 1 team with great respect & consideration towards eachother). Keep up the good work 👏👏👏👌👌👌 PROSET 👏👏.

Zabbar — disappointed food most of the time we order. More than 40mins to receive what was sent wrong! Is this a service?

Definitely not recommended, use to be good but now just serving disgusting food, ripping off paying customers, in the photos you can see the filling of the supposedly GRANDE Sweet n Sour Chicken and the filling of the GRANDE Ham and Cheese, barely any filling at all tiny size and tasteless, in the online order pictures it shows cubed ham and tomato zalza etc… when it’s actually just ONE thin slice of ham in the whole taco, and the chicken one barely has any chicken at all! compete rip off, not value for money, disgusting, and tasteless, never again and definitely will not recommend to anyone.

A pint of Cisk at the Ta' Xbiex is €3.50. The pizza has went way downhill too. Used to be a go-to for decent food. Not anymore. Amigos is now a "Big Nope" for me. It's a shame really.

I just ordered my favorite Siciliana from Amigos Zabbar and visited this place numerous times yet they still consistently offer awesome variety of pizza. The food and service here is excellent, the staff members are always happy and friendly, their prizes are reasonable and the service is fast too. I highly recommend this shop coz their service is a top notch so others can experience this too.

Bought pizzas for the very first time today and are very delicious. Won’t be a 1 time purchase! Well done!

Since you removed your delivery system, your service isn't good anymore even the choices on the other apps aren't as detailed as your website's. For your own profit you did a great disservice to regular customers. I'm sorry to say but you just lost 3 customers from my family, as we'd rather order from the local place where we can have a pizza how we want it, not how bolt allows us to choose.

We have ordered many times with Amigos Zabbar and usually get very good service and delicious food. Last Saturday we weren't so lucky, the order took super long and food came low below the quality we know. We contacted Amigos Zabbar and received a very good customer service. They called us to apologies, asked again what happened, excused themselves and immediately offered discount next time. Since this option didn't satisfied us this time, we actually received a full refund for the order. Well done to the team, great customer service, especially thanks goes to the Italian man, I assume restaurant manager? (apologies, didn't get the name), who took our complaint very seriously and wanted to make sure to settle it. Thanks again.

Apart from not being notified when order was ready to be delivered as indicated and not receiving my order properly, everything was cold! Delivery not recommended from Hamrun Amigos.
