Casa Birmula Boutique Hotel

What a gem! This boutique hotel is a beautiful historic building with wonderful staff and a fabulous breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Our bed was super comfortable, the room was quite small but perfectly fine with nice toiletries and a coffee machine. The hair dryer in the bathroom was a bit rubbish though.
A lovely roof top sunbathing area and in a great location for restaurants, buses and the boat to Valetta. So pleased we found this hotel it was perfect.

We stayed for 7 nights in the Sliema which was perfect for us. A large room with plenty of storage space (extra hangers were provided on request) and a large ensuite; a complimentary use coffee machine and bottled water were also provided. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh; fruit, meats, breads cheeses, eggs cooked however and also a hot selection; breakfast staff were pleasant, helpful and obliging.
Casa Birmula is a two minute walk from the bus stops and a four minute walk from the ferry to Valletta; Birgu centre is also walkable as are the many restaurants along the marina and Grand Harbour. We bought a 7 day Explore card for the bus and went all over the island, however, for us, the charm, views, buildings and ambience of Valletta and The 3 Cities could not be beaten. Quiet area in easy reach of good restaurants and fascinating historical sites. Very friendly staff, good breakfast, spacious and comfortable room.

What an amazing hotel, so much character and so well kept. The staff are amazing, cannot do enough for you, Maureen the manager was very helpful and a lovely person.
Breakfast was plentiful a great variety from continental, fruit, eggs, pancakes, bacon etc.
My bedroom was a double, plenty room, nice size shower room, very comfortable. Roof garden is ideal for resting and enjoying the views and a small pool to cool off.
The hotel for me, was in the best location, walk across the foot bridge to senglea, Birgu, and some great restaurants along the harbour on both side, plus ferry terminal to Valletta.
The history of Malay is very interesting, so plenty of places to visit it you love history.
I hired a car for 4 days to see other parts of the island, Mdina is a must and some amazing bays to swim in. I.
Hopefully will be visiting again and staying at Casa Birmula hotel soon.

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at Casa Birmula!
The place is immaculate, truly a must visit. The beautifully designed stone building gave us an authentic Maltese experience that felt magical.
The attention to detail in the art and warm design choices made the space cozy and aesthetically pleasing. We especially loved the rooftop area and pool. (A great place to watch sunrise or sunset).
The location is also ideal. The Three Cities are among my favorite places in Malta, and it's also very close to Valletta.
Mariella and Maureen were incredibly sweet and responsive, ensuring I had all the check-in instructions for my later arrival time.

I spent only three nights at Casa Birmula, but my stay was great.
The hotel is centrally located, in Cospicua, in front of the Barbour and close to many bus stops. My room was at the third floor, for which there would usually be a lift but it unfortunate was broken when I arrived, although I didn’t mind it too much.
The hotel, organised for me the airport transfer and I had to do contactless check-in because of late arrival. Everything worked very well.
My room was nice, very clean and comfortable. The hotel provides you with extra towels to use on the rooftop pool area. While I didn’t use the pool, I have enjoyed the rooftop lounge to read before sunset: very comfortable and a beautiful view.
The staff was extremely nice and attentive. The breakfast buffet was quite good for me, although the pancakes were not too good.
I recommend this hotel, and the era is certainly more beautiful than Valletta.

A couple thoughts on this one:
A) the location is nice and convenient.
B) the staff was responsive.
C) the elevator stopped working (when we left at 5am)
D) the breakfast staff was good, but missed the mark. Example: Asked for Ice but they said 'No'
E) Pillows were not great and the bed was on the hard side : — (
We enjoyed our stay. Loved the area and the conveniences, but think they could definitely do better when compared to other options in the area.

What a beautiful, quaint hotel this is, based in a quiet location, yet close enough to all amenity’s including restaurants, bars and the ferry terminal which transfer you directly to Valletta in minutes. The pool is small but so private and quiet, and the view from the terrace is simply stunning. The beds are comfy, and our room, which was the family room, was across two rooms and extremely quaint and cozy. Breakfast was acceptable, and the service exceptional, nothing being too much. Thank you for a fantastic stay in a lovely area.

This place is stunning! Absolutely gorgeous. Rooms are impeccable, very clean and cosy. Rooftop has beautiful views and it's so relaxing. Divine breakfast as well! Highly recommend this lovely hotel!

It was the most amazing accommodation I ever had in my life! The house is absolutely gorgeous! The breakfast was the best! Various delicious food! On the roof is a pool, very clean with a big relaxing area. The staff were soooooo kind and cute! I was in my honeymoon with my husband and they gave us a bottle of Prosecco for celebrating! Two minutes away you have the ferry station to Valletta! (We discovered it unfortunately in our last day 😆) Soooo happy we chose this place! I highly recommend it! 🤍

The place, people and decor is warm and welcoming, feels like a home. You don't expect this before you walk through the door, snuggled in a side street of a popular piazza with locals. The location is perfect… don't need a car to explore the area. Even the water taxi that taxes you accross to Valletta is accross the street. Restaurants and entertainment are abundant along the lovely waterfront around the 3 cities.
Staff are always ready to assist, they give you the feeling that they are not only good at what they do but they enjoy it… will be back.

Hotel was in a beautiful building, lovely rooftop terrace with small pool, a lovely area to wind down after a day exploring.
Rooms were lovely as were the staff, always happy to help.
Maureen was especially helpful organising a taxi and advising us on best times to go places. Breakfast was plentiful with eggs cooked to order if required. Had a great stay thank you.

Fantastic boutique hotel located just a few steps from the ferry to Valletta and waterfront area. Very cosy room with swimming pool at the top of the roof and a terrace beneath. Tasty breakfast and very helpful staff.

Enjoyed a really lovely week at the Casa Birmula. The hotel is well located a stone's throw from the ferry wharf with regular ferries (very cheap) into Valetta. The 8-10 mins journey is breathtaking.
We had the Sliema room which was spacious, comfortable and with a bathtub in the en suite. The Casa Birmula is a charming boutique hotel with very friendly & helpful Phillipino staff. Maureen could not have been more informative, always with a big smile on her face. Breakfast covered all tastes & options & was plentiful. The hotel is spotless and our rooms were cleaned to a very high standard each day. Loved the water station outside our door & the Twinnings tea on offer!
My only criticism is the condition of the pool which has many loose or missing tiles on the floor. We still used it but felt it definitely needs to be retiled. The pool top terrace is great with amazing views over the harbour.
I would have no hesitation recommending Casa Birmula to anyone visiting Valetta & surrounds. A bus stop into Valetta is close by too.

Just loved this place. Stayed here for 3 days and was perfect. The staff were excellent and the pool was amazing. Location was excellent too. A very short boat trip to Valetta and in a very smart and laid back part of the city. Decent breakfast too.

We were very happy that we picked Casa Birmula for our 4 night stay. Not only was the location absolutely perfect (quieter than staying in Valleta, but just 4 min walk to ferry that ran every 30 mins to Valetta) but the staff we so hospitable, hotel is super clean, and the rooftop pool was such a nice treat to come home to after the hot days out. Having breakfast included was a nice, easy way to start our day as well. Would stay here again next visit to Malta for sure. Highly recommend. Special thanks to Maureen and Richard for taking such good care of us. Salamat! :)

This is a superb boutique hotel, rooms are really nice and modern. Cleanliness in the hotel is spotless. Breakfast is excellent with a great choice and superb service. The pool and sun bathing on the roof is really nice. Location is excellent and really close to the harbour with restaurants and bars. Highly recommend staying here. Staff are excellent and really helpful.
