Very nice place with private beach! All the staffs is so nice and friendly! For snorkelling you can just to the beach because there is so many fishes around the beach and if you lucky enough you can even see turtle and shark too.

A resort with SOUL* Alunan is a no-brainer choice for any visit to Perhentian Islands. I can write my face off, but it really comes down to this reason – Alunan Resort is a resort with SOUL. The resort was founded (and is still run by) passionate divers, and their ongoing conservation and awareness efforts are proof of their passion towards the sea. Everything in the resort is a reflection of their dedication not only to the sea, but also to the enjoyment of every guest that stays with them, for they count themselves guests of the resort too. For the same reason why artisanal coffee joints are a million times better than Starbucks, so is why Alunan better than any other resort on the island. The above pretty much says it all, but for the sake of completion, here are other points: — Cleanliness is top notch everywhere – in rooms, toilets, restaurant, walkways, cafe, reception, even in the shared restrooms and the mainland office. Hot water shower with great pressure, cold aircon, cold fridge, powerful fan – yes it’s expected, but good to know they deliver. — Very friendly English-speaking staff is obvious, but Alunan goes a step further by employing marine biologists to not only manage their coral growth and conservation efforts, but also to take you on your excursions (for me, at least – may or may not be all the time). Seriously, how often can you say you got a marine biologist to take you around Perhentian?

The place was really beautiful with lovely scene. All of the staff were helpful and well trained. Don't have to worry about carrying the bags. My room was unique, spacious, beautiful setting & view of ocean. Love it all and would back and highly recommended.

Nice secluded and quiet place, restaurant is pricey around RM35-45 but food tastes good and you get a big portion per meal. Staff is very nice and helpful. Remembered it's NOT wheelchair accessible.

Good and stylish hotel, above the average found in Perhentian islands. Still, with too dense space occupation. Activities are well organized — the snorkeling trip is a must. Very nice and helpful staff that makes a difference.

The islands are a paradise. The restaurant is super. The room is big and well maintained. But the room service was always late (once they came in at 2.30pm and once they completely forgot to clean it). There is a new resort built too close to Alunan and once opened will probably be a mess as the beach is small.

Since it is located on hillside you have to walk up the stairs all the way to your room if you get top room. It is advisable to ask for a lower room if you brings kids or elderly. However the top view is very nice and beautiful, worth the pain to walk up the stairs. Don't forget to bring the ointment, I had to endure the pain from over swim/snorkeling/kayaking all the night. Alunan did provide the breakfast for free, other than that you have to pay. The kitchen will be closed at 10pm, better hurry for the dinner, you have to try Tomyam it feels like heaven. The view by the kitchen is very romantic I bet you will like it. For the activities like snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding you have to pay for that and it is pretty cheap. This resort is very peaceful since it is located far from other resort, you will surely have a good escape here. The staff is very super generous. After a rough ride from jetty Kuala Besut you will be served with a cold tea which is very nice. The boat ride from jetty was so rough that I thought my back gonna crack. Don't sit at the front row. Believe me. Enjoy your holiday.

Horrible experience. Requested room with a great sea view on a lower floor. I’m given a room with view to other resort, on a high floor. Stairs are dangerous, aircon doesn’t work, toilet seat was dirty. There’s no private swimming area. Regretting coming here. No sunset or sunrise can be viewed from the island, so I was told. So need to pay for water boats to go to other islands for everything they described as features for the resort. Receptionist tried to explain that in h…ot weather aircons don’t work, come on, are you kidding me? Now waiting for mechanic to come and check. It’s a waste of my vacation and mood. Update: the resort staff were awesome, especially Moon, very friendly and keen to help. They saved my trip, literally. After the maintenance, the aircon worked better. Anyways, I won’t visit the resort as it didn’t serve my purpose of having a relaxed holiday. I spent RM200 over the two day-trip on boat ride only to go to the Long Beach to swim, dine and so on. It was quite hectic to commute 2 hours on the boat back and forth and of course pricey.

Beautiful resort, great hospitality, great food and great excursion trip organized by Seljuk (snorkelling trip). A bit secluded and you’ll need to take water taxi to go to long beach.

This is one really beautiful resort. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Was greeted with a glass of lemongrass and towel upon arrival. Facilities are new and well equipped. We checked in quite late that day, perhaps that is why we got the room almost at the end. Was given a 500ml metal water tumble each as they encourage we to use less plastic bottles. Very steep road to walk to our room and it was very exhausting. But, I was impressed upon entering the room. It was huge with full window view. TV has good channels. There is a stair leads up to the upper floor/roof balcony with carpet grass. Good place to chill and enjoy the view of the sea in the evening/morning. They also have place for you to dry wet clothes. Very thoughtful and I really love this concept. Bayu restaurant serves great foods. I am really impress with the foods they serve. Usually I won't have high expectations but this is really an exceptional. Really satisfied with all the meals they provided. Servers are very friendly too, but can be quite slow. Its understandable as they are fasting during the puasa month. My only complain is limited Internet access. Weak signal for most telco too. But overall its a great experience. Would definitely visit again. A solid 5 stars to Alunan.

Views are perfect every morning from my bed from every single room due to the design and layout of the resort. You get the best of a cliff view and a beach in one place unlike most other resorts which only has one and not the other. Cleanliness:
Tip top, from a fastidious soon-to-be mom like me. If you don't wish to cut short your vacation due to food problems, eat here. Rooms are spotless. Not even sand which is so unusual for a beach pad. Bar and Restaurant:
Vibe is that of friendly happy staff with a wide selection of awesome looking and tasting drinks and food. Island F&B are usually meh… but this one can take on the fancy city ones. The breakfasts are to die for. Eggs booked to perfection, half runny, half done. Activities:
Lots of cool excursions. On my snorkeling trip the driver was so adept that he took us to a quiet place where turtles came towards us, and we saw large fishes like baramnundi and trigger fish. Overall:

We stayed 8 nights at Alunan and we had a wonderful time. The accommodation was great – we had enough space, it was clean and every ‘room' had a own roof top terrace with a nice view to the ocean, perfect to hang out. The staff members were all very friendly and made our stay very relaxing. Breakfast was gorgeous — a big portion which was always fresh and tasty. Homemade ice cream is strongly recommended and the Restaurant ‘Bayu’ served very tasty and nice dishes. The Excursions are always a good experience – we saw turtles, sharks and beautiful corals — full day / half day or snorkeling on 3 spots — we did all of them and they totally worth it. When you don’t like to stay at the hotel the whole time, the staff will bring you to nice spots – or you can walk to the village (15 mins) or to coralbay/longbeach (1 hour).

Staying here for 3 night's. The facilities were great. The bayu restaurant were awesome. Price was good. Enjoy eating while looking the beautiful view from the restaurant. Good quality food. Vegetarian food here really nice. Private beach but not the swimming beach. Clean room and clean toilet. Good for couple to come here. You can drink beer, cocktails, wine and liquor here.

Good hotel. The location is excellent and the rooms are good but there are some things which can be improved for the price paid. The Internet is non existant. You are lucky if you can load Google on the morning but at night you can forget. Breakfast is good but there are no local options, there is a buffet of bread and fruit only. You have to choose one option from the menu and they cook it for you. All Western style, nothing local. Restaurant food is very slow and expensive in my opinion. We were on our honeymoon and we didn't get any details. All the other hotels that we stayed gave us some sweets or some roses or other details. Nothing here. When we arrived, there is a big steep slope to go to the rooms and no-one helped us to carry our luggage which we had to manually take all the way up on the burning sun. And trust me, it was very steep. They have excursion tours which are good but expensive. You can get similar tours for less than half the price around the area. But we did one excursion with them and it was great. The staff of the hotel was nice and always smiling which is great. Things can be improved but the overall experience was good.

Perfect getaway for peace and quiet time. Resort has beautiful sea view. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Roof deck is a perfect place to hang out over tea or wine.

Very lovely resort located at a more secluded part of Perhentian island. For now it seems to be the only operating resort here. Only a small chalet nearby. Another resort is under renovation beside it. The beach is pretty much exclusive for Alunan guests, so expect only small crowds. Beach is not spectacular, but good enough. Waters are clear but plenty of dead coral close to shore. The rooms are absolutely beautiful. Glass walls provide great views from the beds. There is also a nice balcony for each room with hammock and chairs. Also note that there are plenty of stairs. You will definitely need to climb stairs to get anywhere. There are a couple of fruit trees within the resort. In the day you can see squirrels and in the night, BATS! First time being so close to fruit bats. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Only complain would be the slow service during breakfast. Only 1 waiter present and he got our orders wrong. Overall a lovely resort. Come here if you want to enjoy a quiet and relaxing beach holiday. No other restaurants/shops in the immediate surroundings. You would need to take a boat to more happening places.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay! Staff members here are very friendly and helpful. I am impressed at how hard they try to speak English and always with a smile even though English is not their first language. Was told that these were the people who built the resort by hand and continued to stay on to learn new skills and language in housekeeping, maintenance, restaurant etc. Talk about passion and dedication! Would definitely be coming back to stay!

Very unique boutique hotel, the staff there were all very friendly. I been given a room a nice view. Restaurant: The food is spectacular, very big portion. Beach: A lot of death corals and please do borrow a water shoes from the hotel if you would like to walk on the beach. Sea Water: The water clarity actually was very good just that there isn't any live coral.

We spent 5 nights @alunan, good points: the location, the restaurant was very good, staff very friendly and helpful and the view From the terrace is amazing. We were a bit disappointed by the room which wasnt completely finished, breakfast also could be improved and bad point we booked a family room as we travelled with a 3yrs old kid and we had the room on the top with too many stairs for him to climb. Its Just details we loved the time we had there and we Will for sure recommend the place to OUR friends. Thanks alunan!
