Great location with quietly efficient caring staff. If you want marble bathrooms, 24 hour room service and laundry service stay down the road at the Ramada. But if you want to feel you are living the history and culture, then this is the place for you.

Stone's throw from Jonker Walk and yet a distance from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. Right next to the tranquil and picturesque river lit with bright and colorful lights in the evening beguiling a warm welcome. One can be lulled to sleep with the rhythm of the sounds from the rickshaws, traffic and footsteps out in the streets. In all, a cosy and comfy home away from home.

Large collection of beautiful peranakan items. Room is unique in their decor. The place is very clean and staff are friendly and helpful.

It’s a very traditional Nyonya house that’s absolutely wonderful place to stay.

Scrumptious Dishes suck as Indian Style Curry Fish Head with rich taste, well-known crispy Rendang, kangkung, even Otak-Otak from Muar and many more. The taste of all the food is just very nice. Not lying but tats the truth. Looking around the guesthouse, the place let ppl feel very comfortable. The staffs are all friendly. Thus, It’s just about 50m away from the Jonker Street entrance and the H&M. Surely is a very nice place to stay if you want to hang out and experience life in Malacca. Confirm Will pay a visit again!

Set along the Melaka River, this guesthouse in a restored warehouse is a 5-minute walk from the vibrant Jonker Street Night Market, 4 minutes' walk from the historic Stadthuys, and 4 km from buses at Melaka Sentral.

What a great little guesthouse I’m here atm with my parents and two sisters awesome food, fantastic position and the staff are amazing we are extremely happy and will definitely be coming back for another stay.

Great food and a friendly boss! The mutton curry is highly recommended! Kang Kong was crunchy, the fish was well seasoned and fried.

Exquisite building, wonderful hosts, and an ideal location. This is a hotel for culture and history lovers. It's a 17th century Peranaken Chinese mansion, lovingly restored, full of stunning decor and antique furniture that you wouldn't be able to touch in a museum. The staff are friendly and engaged, particularly over the spectacular breakfast, which spreads out a whole range of local foods. (Don't fill up too much in your first helping, not if you want to try a bit of everything! ) The location couldn't be better — just a stone's throw from where Jonker Street meets the Malacca River. Couldn't be better placed for all the main attractions, and just far enough from the beaten track to be an ornate oasis whenever you need to take a break from the breathtaking city. It's not a typical modern luxury hotel — if you're looking to relax by a pool and use elevators not stairs, then that's a different experience. But if you want a treat of old Malacca and to feel part of history, this is a place you'll never forget.

Great staff, excellent breakfast, beautiful rooms. Mostly only queen size beds but excellent location.

The place is a bit run down for the price. The biggest turn off is the water dispenser in the lobby with the sign "STAFF ONLY". Really? You won't let your guests refill their water bottles in the lobby of the hotel they're staying in?! The bathroom sink leaked. The Wi-Fi simply stopped working from 12am — 8am. The water pressure in the shower varies from medium to dripping. On the plus side, the location is great and the air conditioning is cold.

Echoing other reviewers, this place is an incredible piece of history. We were the only guests in the entire hotel when we stayed which gave me ample opportunity to explore every room and amaze at the details, artifacts and authenticity of the former family living quarters turned hotel. It is maintained beautifully and interesting to learn about from the staff. Breakfast was also truly authentic local cuisine and there was a lot of it. Staff was extremely friendly and enjoyed joking around with us. Location is perfect as it is just off the end of Jonker Street, but mostly remains quiet at night. Excellent location for casually walking and exploring the city.

Truly exceptional Malay food, with the nicest set of owners you ever met. We got personalized service, suggestions and the best meal we had in Malacca. After our meal the owner shared a glass of $300/bottle single malt with us freely. Cool old pictures on the wall in a semi-historical colonial building. Something for everyone here!

Nice unique hotel. Perfect location (1min to Jonker Street and UNESCO sites, nice decoration, clean and must try Nonya breakfast. Fantastic Staff, extremely friendly and make u feel very much at home. Secured and safe carpark too.

The first time I saw this place because of those big Chinese writings as mural in its side wall of this Heeren House. Though I didn't even know what's the meaning of it, still they are very attractive spots for photography.

Very good location just 50m away from Jonker Walk and minutes away walk from heritage enclave. However the heritage building was bare and room was plain.

A decent hotel literally just under 1 minute walk to Jonker Street round about and San Shi Gong.

Best accommodation in Malacca, prime location (walking distance to Jonker Walk, H&M, Hard Rock Malacca, Red Fort) and next to the river for cruising! Couldn't ask for more than that! Plus, the super duper friendly and kind owner and staffs! A highly recommended stay over to everyone! Will definitely come back again with the family.

100% a truly authentic experience. Rooms are amazing attention to detail as is the whole place. Breakfast is an experience of local tradition and well presented. Location is great. No elevator and I was with my daughter. Frlnt was a man but didnt't offer to help at all. Stairs were steep so if you jave bad knees, hard to go upstairs so ask for first floor rooms. Room was comfortable and quiet. AC worked well. I would go back.

The hotel Heeren by the river is very well located, close to the main street of Malacca. All tours can be done on foot from the hotel.
The rooms are very dark, old, not very well-kept and with the minimum of comfort. Indeed our bed although very large grincait to each movement. The shower is glued to the toilet and without curtains which makes that when you have showered, there is water everywhere. Finally when we arrived at the hotel, the two locks of one of the windows had completely disappeared, which did not allow us to lock the window. The staff had knowledge of this but had not taken the time to repair it. On the other hand, the wood of some windows was moldy. We will note however that the staff was very friendly.

I was looking forward to my stay. The hotel was always booked out when I tried to book it. So when we got the booking we were really excited. Plain room. Okay location. Lacklustre design.

'Truly a Great Peranakan Experience' This little Peranakan hotel is truly a gem in the heart of historic Melaka — conveniently located, nicely decorated and perfectly matched by friendly services by the staff. My wife and I stayed here during the recent long Christmas weekend. Situated within the main tourist attraction areas of Jonker Street, The Stadhuys and Hard Rock Cafe — these places are just within a walking distance. And you can actually go back to the hotel whenever you want to. The hotel itself is a small Peranakan museum. Authentic antique, artwork and wood which were sourced by the owner's wife herself are nicely arranged and placed on each floor. These collectibles simply look stunning to us. In fact, throughout our stay at 5 Heeren, we felt like we are staying in an antique old house. The staff in the hotel were extremely nice and friendly (special mention to Dina). My emails were promptly replied by the team. As we got to our room after an efficient check-in process, we were given a slice of cheese cake delivered to us personally by Elvina (the owner's daughter). Once again, upon our check-out, she surprised us with a take-away pastry. Thank you Elvina! To us, the buffet breakfast was really an insight to the Peranakan cuisine with nasi lemak bunga telang, home-made pineapple tart and kuih sago among the spreads offered.

Filmed a reality TV show called Trailseekers in Melaka. Stayed at this hotel for 10 days. Great hospitality and very comfortable.

A nice hotel. It is at jonker walk, where you can acess to mas local food. The internet connection is good. May not be suitable for the eldery because they don't have a lift. The bed is very comfortable. The service is quite fine too. The rooms are quite dim because there are no windows and only one light.
