À stunning place with breathtaking mountain views! The rooms are beautifully decorated. The breakfast is lovely. It’s very peaceful, and the staff are extremely attentive!
We were a bit cold in the restaurant and in the rooms, but it was December—we should have asked for a heater!

Excellent hotel. I stayed here 1 night in the room which is located in the upper part of the hotel. River and mountain view from here are amazing.
Room good, cleanliness good, amenities good and standard. Breakfast and dinner was good with veg/vegan options.

Could not recommend this place any more. 5 stars for location, wine, food, hospitality and over all check in, check out experience.
If you are looking for something special for a couple of nights or even the week, this is your place.
Definitely will visit next time we are in the area.
The views. The pool and gardens surrounding this lush stay are amazing.

This hotel offers epic views of the Mekong from the rooms, restaurant and swimming pool, comfortable accommodation, a French wine list and is only a stone's throw away from town/the slowboat pier. The pool was exceptionally clean and refreshing. For a 3-star hotel this absolutely exceeds expectations. I believe you get excellent value for moneu with everything you need for a comfortable stay at your fingertips.

Good hotel in Pakbeng. The view from the balcony, as well as from the restaurant and pool, overlooking the river is beautiful. The rooms are well-maintained and are probably among the best in this small town. The dinner and restaurant also offer delicious food. A free pick-up from the slow boat is provided as well.

This hotel is a bit expensive compared to other accommodation in pak beng, but I worth it. Beautiful rooms. Excellent views of the sunset after a 9 hour trip on the slow boat to Luang Prabang. The beds and pillows are comfortable, making for a good nights rest. The only improvement here would be to use an actual queen mattress, instead of 2 twins put together, which creates an uncomfortable stiff lump down the middle of the bed. One other suggestion is to ensure both the toliet and the showers are throughly cleaned before a guest arrives. At this price point, I think this is a reasonable expectation. On the upside, free shuttle was provided to and from the pier, and they even put my breakfast together to take with me because I woke up late. Excellent service.

Staying here for a week and really enjoying my stay.
The French General Manager is very nice and helpful.
Food is good.
I like that they provide a French-press for coffee in the room, definitely better than nescafe.
The swimming-pool is open 24 hours if you are in the mood a late night or early morning exercise.
Loads of activities can be organised through the hotel.
They provided me free pick-up from the jetty, not sure if they do for all guest.
2 years ago I stayed at their competitor hotel in Pakbeng, I prefer the Sanctuary.

Stayed here as the one night stop off on the slow boat to Luang Prabang. Right from check in the staff were so friendly and attentive. The room was beautiful, with the most amazing view of the river. Free tea, coffee and drinking water, with a mini bar if you want it. Good shower and comfy bed. We also ate at the restaurant at night which was delicious, they take card, and it seems most other currency — baht, dollars etc, which was super helpful.
They also have a beautiful pool with a stunning view down the river. A lovely one night stay :)

We stayed at the Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge for a night as a part of our Mekong River Slowboat trip in Laos.
What are the good things — it is close to the port, pick up & drop off from the port to the hotel, the room is clean it has comfy bed & clean sheets (hot water for shower is amazing once we arrived we just wanted to take that long hot shower), set breakfast is included too!
The staff are amazing, from check-in, breakfast the next day and check-out.
One thing I can share from our experience is that on the morning of our check-out there is a minor incident some parts of the hotel reception had mud slide (effect of all night rain), the staff managed this affected area right away and re-assured us that everything is safe and okay.
Our stay was one night only at July 16-17, 2025.
The overall experience is 10/10.

I cannot recommend this place enough to stay! So close to where you get the slow boat also. The staff went above and beyond for us, especially as we had food allergies (1x gluten free, 1x dairy and egg). The views were unbelievable and we were lucky enough to see elephants in the morning! The pool is great and the rooms are excellent. The food is so fresh and is some of the best I’ve had. Worth every penny staying here!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge and wished I could have stayed longer to experience more.
The property features remarkable vistas of the Mekong River, with staff demonstrating professionalism and hospitality throughout the stay. The accommodation was both comfortable and tastefully furnished. Our corner suite, equipped with multiple balconies, offered an ideal environment for relaxation and afforded unobstructed views of the river below.
The morning views of the mist-covered Mekong Valley were particularly noteworthy. The staff supplied us with an abundant breakfast box for our early morning departure. I would recommend this establishment to travelers journeying by slow boat and suggest trying to squeeze in an extra day, if possible.

I didn't want to leave! Only wish I had split my 2 day mekong river cruise and booked for at least 2 nights here. The place is gorgeous, the staff are even more so, and the view from the dining area and balcony rooms exceptional. In addition, this place supports an ethical elephant rescue park across the mekong. We didn't get a chance to visit that but I so wish we had and I applaud this company for promoting and supporting that cause. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when I find myself back in Pakbeng.

We used the services of this hotel when stopping over in Pak Beng with out slowboat. It was really worth the price, which can be a little higher then others in Pak Beng. It is not too far from the slowboat pier, but they will pick you up and drop you off for free. Views are amazing from here and breakfast was basic but good. They also have a restaurant which is a little pricey.

Wonderful place, quiet, well located, with a nice view on Mekong river and if you are lucky you can see an elephant coming for the bath on the opposite bank around 7h30

This is the third time I have stayed at Sanctuary over the years and it has been a most enjoyable experience each time. On check in you are greeted by the GM and introduced to the property and it's facilities. The service is very professional and the quality of meals from breakfast to dinner is faultless. The rooms are clean and serviced well each day and the team are helpful in any requests. We stayed for 3 nights this time as the last couple of times we were doing the Mekong cruise which is just an over night stay and wanted to experience the place better. It was so relaxing having the extra few days as we would get to see the elephants come down to swim two or three times a day and had plenty of pool time as well. Why Sanctuary sets them apart from the others is it has magical views up and down the Mekong and fantastic sunsets. Also the market gardens that they use in there cooking is tendered to by the hotel staff and they get to take produce home. The resort also brings in a doctor to do check ups of staff each month which is great for local staff and family. The other thing that is so special is that the GM's wife Wendy is the one behind the amazing rescue Elephants reserve directly across the river"Mekong Elephant Park" She is an amazing and very hard working, dedicated individual and has done so much for the rescue of mistreated elephants. I would not hesitate in recommending Sanctuary as the place to stay when in Pakbeng.

It totally depends on the weather. Our Riverview room has no heat! We have one of the suites on the hill & the ceiling is very high so when they did bring us a heater it didn't do any good. If the normal rooms have a lower ceiling, during a cold snap, they shouldn't put guest up here! The restaurant was also opening her and very cold. Whenever I saw the leaves on the plant start to move I would brace for a chill!

What an absolutely surprising and beautiful hotel. Fabulous service picking us up from the premium boat. Gorgeous sunset views. Stunning room. Delicious dinner. Super friendly staff (thank you Pria). We would absolutely stay again and for longer.
