DoubleTree by Hilton Shymkent

Upon Arrival at 4:00 pm, room was not ready and we have to wait for long time to getting room ready, then they said breakfast not included, when I show them that my breakfast included, I show them voucher confirmation that breakfast is included but helpless, Front office manager Misbehaving to us saying to us breakfast not included.

The kids and I had a very nice time at the Doubletree Shymkent. We received a great room upgrade as a very loyal Hilton customer and had a very spacious room that was perfectly clean. The pool is well maintained and large enough for a small swim and surely a gimmick when traveling with kids in the summer. It’s 15 minute walking distance to the city center and maybe 25 to the Citadel/old town. Breakfast is fine, parking is free and staff is very friendly and comforting. Yet, the hotel is not the most modern hotel in the world (any more). But I would definitely recommend for both business and leisure travel; the value for money is very good.

Arrived early morning (9am) after 12 hour ordeal on a Soviet throwback overnight train ride from Bishkek. Am a Silver member and fully expected to be able to check in early. WRONG! Even though my room was available, there would a 50% SURCHAGE! I asked if it was possible to get breakfast… yes if wanted to pay $18 USD… Well long short I was able to get an 11am check in so I explored the city for two hours. Hotel is a bit outside the main area/sights of the city, though it is across from the circus and Skeyt Park. No fault with the room and they do have a nice indoor pool and sauna. Quite honestly the only reason I stayed here was because the rate was good. I walked passed the Shymkent Grand and I'd book that next time… was cheaper, included breakfast and was better located. Take away here… Hilton's customer service has really gone down the toilet!

Lovely hotel, the employees are friendly and very helpful. The swimming pool is really nice, my family enjoyed the stay during Nauryz holidays. On our way back from Tashkent we did not find a room and asked for the assistance of the reception. They kindly advised where we can have our breakfast and made some other recommendations how to spend the day in Shymkent! Thank you very much for the hospitality and friendliness!

Everything was great staff is very polite and good service. I would like to thank Ms Adina &Ms. Nurzhaina from the front office they are excellent. Also I would like to thank the spa reception man unfortunately I didn't take his name plus thanks a lot to the house keeping lady.

Hotel is very good I enjoyed a lot. I would like to thank Ms Adina in front office about her amazing check in also I would like to thank Ms. Nurzhaina in front office about her check out and helping us with the breakfast box. Also there's one man in Spa reception unfortunately I don't save his name he was very good. I don't forget the young chief in the buffet whom is made our omelette he was very good service and polite also the housekeeping staff. Was perfect. Again thanks to all the staff.

We needed a break and the Double Tree was what we needed. We took a swim and sauna. Everything was just right.

The hotel may be good, but the service is simply terrible. The people at the reception are incompetent. You call the phone and no one answers. I tried to call for 10 minutes, they just didn’t pick up the phone. Documents are written to business travelers from the lantern, you tell them about it and there is zero reaction. I read the reviews below, this is their “trick and corporate identity” for business guests. Just some kind of horror. How can you make mistakes in documents? There is one amount on the checks, another amount on other documents. I do not recommend it for business travelers and business people.

Proper 4-star hotel with the level of service and quality of the room on par with Europe. Friendly and polite personnel, delicious breakfast, clean and spacious room, perfectly functioning Wi-Fi… what more could one ask for.
Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a reasonably priced, high-quality hotel with high standards of service in Shymkent.

All night couldn’t sleep. Our room was near some sport team players that were screaming in the corridors horribly. Reception didn’t answer our calls. Our baby cried so much. Incredible that the hotel isn’t able to manage to have quiet nights.

Nice stay. The hotel is quiet, I had no street noise, though I didn't face the street side. The location is very good. It is across the street from Park Abay, and a 5-minute walk to the main drag with shops and restaurants. As well, there is a good restaurant named Djeti Tandyr, very close to the hotel.
The Arbat area is a 10-minute or so walk away.
Everything worked well, and the breakfast was good. Service was also very friendly. My only issue was the Wi-Fi. It sometimes came in and out, and sometimes was slow.
However, overall, I would stay here again.

The breakfast is excellent, the standard rooms are small, the pool is large with a jacuzzi and sauna. It seems to me that guests have to overpay for the Hilton name.

Good hotel. There is everything for relaxation and work. The gym is tired, but that doesn't matter. There would be two dumbbells. I would like to mention the organizer of the training, Gulnar. She did everything so that we would not need anything. Surrounded with 100% care. The training itself took place in a comfortable room.

Clean good rooms, variety at breakfast. Large warm pool, there is a jacuzzi. The location is almost in the city center.

At night we asked for water, they said no, we can bring it in the morning. It was strange to say the least. And the service is good. At the reception they said breakfast on January 1 and 2 will be from 7 to 12, and so on the 2nd to 11 it turns out to be breakfast. Everything got a little mixed up for us. Still, everything went well. We recommend this hotel. The pool is clean, the sauna is clean, the bed is very comfortable. 👍

Really pleasant stay over here at DoubleTree and the facility’s were quite impressive with a underground gym a indoor pool and a sauna rooms were clean and spacious and had a nice bathtub too and staff were really nice. And the welcome cookie was great.
