Worst experience ever! Breakfast is really bad and cold. No toaster or hot milk. Same limited spread everyday. The cleaning of the room is not good as well. No amenities offered. No elevator and no support during luggage transfer. The reception ladies were okay to talk too but no help can be expected to know about the place or from tourist point of view.
Incase if your sheets or towel gets dirty during your stay, you will be asked to clean by yourself or pay. No hospitality at all. No consideration for baby in terms of baby bed or anything whatsoever. If you are looking for reasonable option then this place is okay but be ready for penalties. Oh I forgot to mention you can’t use shoes inside the room as well. Keep it at the corner of door as soon as you enter your room.

Skip Blue Sky Taxi Airport shuttle – but otherwise, an unforgettable stay at Renion Hotel!
Let’s get one warning out of the way: do NOT take Blue Sky Taxi from the airport. They charge five to ten times the regular rate. Lesson learned! If you're flying into Almaty, download Yandex GO or Uber KZ before arrival – both work great and are way cheaper. Now, on to the good stuff…
As three Europeans traveling to Kazakhstan for the first time, we honestly didn’t know what to expect. Almaty was a big mystery to us, but Renion Hotel turned out to be an absolute gem – warm, welcoming, and surprisingly luxurious given the very affordable price.
From the moment we stepped in, we were treated with genuine hospitality and kindness. The staff spoke English, smiled a lot, and always made sure we had what we needed – and we weren’t exactly the easiest guests! We were three guys, snowboarding all day at Shymbulak, and unwinding each night with bottles of vodka in the room… and maybe not the cleanest after a long day on the slopes. Still, the hotel staff never judged us, never complained, and always kept the room spotless. Huge respect to the housekeeping team!
Breakfast, which was included in the price, was excellent – fresh, filling, and a perfect start to a day in the mountains. But the real cherry on top? The hotel sauna and ice pool.

I recently spent 2 nights at Renion while I was transiting from Astana to İstanbul. The hotel suited all my needs very nicely.
It is super clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was adequate. I had some very good communication with Irina prior to my stay. She responded to my emails quickly and efficiently and always very polite!
Because of my job I spend half of my life in hotels. I read all of the reviews before I booked at Renion and I think some of them were a little far-fetched and unreasonable. This is a budget hotel and does not represent itself as anything else. Ok, there is no lift. If you read the reviews then this should come as no surprise.
Renion met or exceeded my requirements and is very well-managed. The cleanliness of the hotel was most outstanding.
I would definitely recommend Renion to any traveler who is in transit and needs a comfortable place to stay near the airport.

. My family of four stayed at Renion Hotel, Almaty, Kazakhstan, from January 27 to 29, 2025. Overall, as a budget hotel, it was okay. The location is strategic—close to a supermarket and nice local restaurants.
The rooms, lobby, and dining area were clean. However, there were a couple of downsides: the heater in the room was too warm for us and difficult to adjust since it was centrally controlled. Also, there was no elevator, so we had to carry our four large suitcases up the stairs ourselves.
The receptionist was decent, but most of the staff were not friendly. Only one or two greeted guests, while the rest often seemed indifferent, which is not ideal for a hospitality business. However, when we checked out, a male staff member kindly helped us carry our luggage downstairs.
On our second day, we had to leave at 6 AM, but since breakfast only started at 7 AM, we requested four boiled eggs the night before as a substitute. The next morning, our request was prepared, along with some fruit for our tour that day. Thank you to the hotel management for this thoughtful gesture. I especially appreciate the female night-shift receptionist on January 28, 2025—I don’t know her name, but her kindness was much appreciated.

We have had a great experience here specially the services provided by the staff from front desk definitely the credit goes to Irina for assisting us with everything and room service staff Aijaan and Gulfiyah.

The location was decent, though a bit away from the main city, but still manageable. The room size was impressively large. Breakfast was good.
It all started when I checked in and paid, and then the woman at the front desk told me my room was on the first floor. There was no elevator, and no staff offered to help with my bags. The lady asked me to carry my own two bags to the room, which felt odd and unwelcoming.
Things got worse on my last night. It was around 10:30
PM, and the hotel had only given me one small water bottle for the entire day. I wanted more water, and there were two contact numbers: one for the reception and one for the bar. I thought it wasn't appropriate or logical to call the bar just for water, so I contacted the reception.
When l asked for a water bottle, the lady at the reception responded rudely, saying, "You're calling the reception for a water bottle? " and then hung up before I could even say anything else. I felt terrible after that and didn't bother asking for water again. I just went to sleep thirsty.
Is this the service you expect after paying for a hotel stay? No proper service, and rude staff? It wasn't the entire staff, but specifically the lady working the night shift at reception. She also gave me strange looks throughout my stay, which made me uncomfortable.

It’s a budget-friendly option with some great features that make it worth considering. The reception staff is friendly and speaks English, which is a big plus for international travelers. The hotel offers wide parking, though it’s set back a few meters from the main road, so you'll need to drive in a bit to reach it.
The rooms are spacious and well-equipped with complimentary water, a water heater, and dental care amenities, which add value to your stay. The hotel also provides a breakfast buffet, which is a nice touch, especially given the affordable rates.
However, there are a few drawbacks. There’s no lift, so be prepared to take the stairs if your room is on an upper floor. During the summer, the air conditioning can get quite hot, and there's no electric fan to help cool things down.
Overall, if you’re looking for a cheap and budget-friendly place with big rooms and a decent breakfast, this is a solid choice. Just be aware of the lack of a lift and potential summer heat.

First the good things:
* It's really cheap (for our standards)
* There is a playground in front of the hotel.
* Staff at the reception was helpful including with some special requests and speaks English (not a given in Kazakhstan in general)
However it has really questionable hygiene standards:
1. We got dinner here the first night and while it was reasonably tasty my wife caught a stomach bug from a beef noodle soup that made her sick for a week (at which point she got some antibiotics). This alone makes us regret the choice of hotel.
2. Most things at the breakfast did not seem fresh.
3. The baby chair is not being cleaned from one day to the next even if it's super dirty. Baby bed in our room looked filthy too.
I also thought there was a pool because of the pictures. Turns out it's a (smelly) 2x2m water hole.
Finally the Wi-Fi is extremely slow and basically unusable.
Overall I guess you get what you pay for. I just wish we would have spent more elsewhere…

The rooms are good. But: The worst part by far is the food. Most stuff isn't fresh. They just keep it lying there in the open for hours and then serve it again next day. It tastes bad and you get serious food poisoning. Don't eat anything that can spoil! I have had diarrhea the entire time I stayed there. Also the "pool" is so tiny you can hardly call it a pool.

It's not an expensive hotel but it is very clean and comfortable. In very good location, very green area. Fantastic russian and Kazakhstan cuisine. Very friendly staff. And it is very near to the airport. Good for transit overnight passengers.

Worst experience ever… same cold breakfast daily… nothing to warm milk or bread… housekeeping staff didn't clean cups in the room… the receptionists were rude especially with the Indians and they took charges for even a small stain on the bedsheets or towels. Rude waiters.

Worst hotel.
We stayed for a week and they gave the same breakfast everyday.
Rinat waiter will Look as you demanded his kidney if you ask for anything.
Please never book.

Despite all the bad reviews seen on the internet, Renion is a great hotel.
They offer 24/24 check-in which is very convenient as flights usually arrive quite late in this part of the world.
The lobby makes you feel welcome, staff are welcoming and rooms very comfortable to be honest with great bathroom.
Breakfast was quite a surprise, filled with lots of choices and good products.
Very recommendable!

The hotel is near my work. A month earlier, I more or less liked everything, so on my next visit to the city I settled here. But apparently the stars didn’t align. The second night I didn’t really sleep and I felt like I was living in an inn (
On the first night they brought a bus of Chinese. VERY noisy comrades!
The second night they brought a busload of children. Expectedly worthy competitors to the Chinese)
Tomorrow is the third night. I wonder who will be… Gypsies or a touring circus? )

Nice and clean, conveniently located, but only drawback — it has no elevator / lift. You have to REQUEST the receptionist to call someone to carry your baggage to the room.
