This hotel is breathtaking. Our room is luxuriously appointed. The staff, especially Mohammad Kasbah and AHMAD HASANAT Went way above and beyond to coordinate a delayed delivery of medicine my husband had been waiting on. Their caring attitude and huge facilitation in accomplishing this almost insurmountable task were something I’ve never seen in a hotel of this size. The food here is also amazing. We highly recommend this hotel without reservation.

From the 6th to the 11th of October we spent very exciting days in Petra, Jordan.
The hotel is located in Wadi Musa, right at the entrance of the Petra area.

Excellent location right next to the entrance to Petra. Hotel is beautiful, and room was comfortable. It was great to have a pool to use after a long hot day in Petra. The service was very good. Hotel staff was very courteous and helpful.

The hotel in a good location. It’s right at the gate to Petra. The staffs are not good. Very slow and untrained. Take a long time to order anything or you have to walked to ask them to get the service. We stayed there for 3 nights. The swimming pool is good and the dinner buffet is good.

Hotel is in a great location and the room was clean. Breakfast buffet was good, as was room service food (pizza/sandwich) and the restaurant. My biggest issue was with the air conditioning. After a very hot day at Petra, the A/C in our room did not work. We changed rooms, but A/C in the new room did not work well either. We were not able to adjust the temp below 24.6 degrees and that is quite warm to sleep.

The bad: We had to change rooms three times. The first one had a broken AC, the second one was a smoking room and the third, an upgraded room, was still not very cool, even with the AC on. The good: The food was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was a dream. Dinner on the rooftop at sunset was gorgeous and delicious. The location right across from the gates of Petra was perfect. Attentive and caring staff! Gorgeous public rooms. Well-appointed rooms. Would highly recommend to friends.

The outdoor swimming pool was the highlight of our stay. After 6 hour trail in Petra it was fantastic to enjoy its freshness. The food was superb as well. I highly recommend to watch the stunning sunset from the Rooftop garden on the 4th floor while dining there. All was good.

For whatever reason, our rooms were not ready when we arrived after check-in time. This was not too bothersome, as we had a beer at the bar. However, we were not served at the bar for about 5-10 minutes because no one was working the bar. The room was fine, until that night. We were awoken around 1am by a dripping noise. The AC was dripping loudly onto the carpet. Putting a towel down did not dull the noise, so I called reception. No one answered. I called Guest Services and no one answered. I dialed "0" and no one answered. So, I went down to the front desk, but no one was there. The only person I found was a man cleaning the floor. He fetched the young receptionist, who was who-knows-where. I told him that the AC unit was leaking and that we would likely need a new room. Perhaps some of my complain was lost in translation, but he smirked and said he'd send up the "engineer. " The engineer arrived and I pointed out the problem. He took a look and the only thing he did was turn off the AC and give me a thumbs up! I told him that that would obviously not fix the problem — we were in Petra and it was hot. He left to get his tools, came back, fixed it, and left. The fix was temporary, as the AC unit began dripping again at 6:30am. We were waking up around then anyway to begin our full-day hike through Petra. When we returned later that day, we informed reception of the ongoing problem. They again sent up an engineer, who again temporarily fixed the issue.

The great advantage of the hotel is that it is opposite the front gate to Petra. We had a good quality room over-looking the entrance with parking on-site. We stayed for two nights and booked the half board option for simplicity. The breakfast and dinner were both good, without being exceptional. Generally the public areas of the hotel were attractive, but the approach to the pool through the basement and the pool area, could do with some re-decoration. The roof-top bar/restaurant was a nice feature but again more could be made of this. I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone visiting Petra.

Our experience at this hotel was brilliant! The staff were really kind and helpful and the common areas were stunning with beautiful tiles and fountains. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was really lovely and large and looked out onto the atrium. The pool was wonderful and perfectly heated, with clean and tasteful changing rooms. We ate dinner and lunch in the bar area and both were tasty and good value and the breakfast was fabulous, with loads of choice including a very nice omelet station.

Good hotel, but of Four Seasons quality. The rooms need a major update. The bathrooms need to be gutted. We did have black mold all over in our shower. Which the staff did their best to address. Food is pretty good, common areas are very nice. Was impressed with the courtyard. Staff very friendly and location is ideal. Best place to stay in Petra.

The location is excellent but so have other hotels near the Petra site. we liked the public areas, the beautifully decorated bars. The pool was a disaster, approached from the basement past an ugly area of the hotel. The rooms were comfortable but had no character. Check-in at reception was exceptionally good and friendly. Just not sure we had value for money when there is competition near by.

Closest Hotel to Petra site.
The service is good, the rooms are spacious, the different restaurants of the hotel are good, without being extraordinary. The patio is particularly nice when returning from an "expedition" on the site.
This is the hotel in which to get off if you go to Petra.

Check in was slow. Didn’t feel personal. The food at breakfast was tasteless and bland. The service at the bar area was extremely slow with staff walking right by us, not acknowledging our presence. If you want to have a drink there and have plans made, you need to give yourself plenty of time. Rooms clean but for a superior room I was not impressed. My mountain view room didn’t include that mountain view. The car park view looked lovely. However, we spent hardly any time in that room. Very good location for entry into to Petra and that is the only reason why I would recommend this hotel and you pay a higher cost for that convenience.

Wonderful hotel! Beautiful decor, professional staff, great food. We stayed here on our visit to Petra. It was great to come back to such a wonderful place after a day of hiking. The location is incredible too, right outside of entrance to Petra. Every detail was thought of including water and fresh fruit in the room. We wish we could have stayed longer. We had a buffet dinner and it was fantastic.

We booked a junior suite in what you promote as a five star hotel. We travel a great deal so expected more than a medium sized room with a sofa, a bathroom with one sink and a shower that was mounted over the bath in which there was no plug. That is not a suite, nor is it five star by any imagination. The hotel is also the chosen accommodation for large groups so that at popular times the restaurant was Bedlam. Finally, our meal in Al Iwan was something of a disaster (tasteless tuna and raw rack of lamb) although the manager handled it well. Sorry for this, as your staff are brilliant.

There were three of us and we did not have reservations for the restaurant so we went to the bar. We got there 10 to 8 and asked about Happy Hour. We were told it's almost over and we had to talk the waiters into serving us. We stayed for dinner there too and it was fine until we were leaving and the waiter look at our bill after we signed out to a credit card and asked, "No tip? " I found the question rude but responded, "No, we paid a service charge. " He told us, "That's just for the government, oh never mind. " awful.

It is the worst experience I’ve had in A hotel let alone a star hotel. We booked well ahead for 4 women traveling together and expected to be given adjoining rooms. It was busy as they did not have that and it was understandable. We requested to have rooms in the same floor. That was not possible as well. We said twin beds? And again not possible. Was that too much to ask for?
We check in and the bathroom floods! We go for breakfast ask for water and the waiter says to go and find it at the buffet counter. So in all a pathetic service and facilities
The worst part was the staff. Very very rude. And a don’t care attitude. Never heard anything like that before and did not expect it in Movenpick!

Good location, friendly staff, great food.

The water pressure in the shower changes dramatically from very low to very strong as we shower. The air-conditioning didn't work very well and the room was never at the temperature set in the meter. The parking area is too small, making it difficult to park a medium to large size car. Positive: The service and personnel are very polite and willing to help at anytime.

Can not have better location: Right in front of the entrance to the city of Petra. On the outside it seems a little "poor" and does not call attention. But inside changes everything: exquisite service, several restaurants, very comfortable rooms with all service. Very nice pool where you can also eat something.

The breakfast is good enough. But must we loved the experience of having snacks and drinks at the lobby bar! And the restaurant a la carte is just georgous!
The fact that the hotel is just some steps from the Petra archaeological area is great after having a whole day walking around Petra.

Movenpick is conveniently located across the street from the entrance to Petra. The breakfast buffet was very good with many choices. The rooms are modern with a good sized bathroom. Our only problem was ordering drinks in the lounge. Every time the waiter brought the wrong thing or nothing. For example, two glasses of white wine and one glass of red were delivered as two red and one white. A cup of tea needed to be ordered a second time after waiting 20 minutes.

To visit the ruins of Petra, the location can not be better. It's a nice hotel, spacious room and well equipped. Good choice.

Great location, so near to the entrance to Petra archaeological site. Pleasant hotel, centrally located in town and near to amenities. Comfortable room, good dining facilities, good food, good service. Friendly staff. Only issue was the bath water outlet was clogged and water did not flow freely.

Very good and nice place to stay. Nice rooms if you have one that is on the outside, because you can open a window. Very nice lobby and nice bar/restaurant. Staff is friendly and helpful. Big advantage is that you are opposite of the entrance of Petra. Very comfortable. There is a secure parking in hotel parking. I would recommend this hotel. Prices are not very cheap, but worth it.

Welcome — 5/5 We had been travelling for almost a month and I was bound to make a booking mistake at one point! I accidentally booked in for the day before we arrived instead of the day we arrived. The front desk let me know about my error, but still honored our rate and did not double charge us for the mix up that I made! We were also given some hibiscus tea when we arrived, which was refreshing and welcome after a long drive. Bed — 5/5 The bed was comfortable and pillows were exactly what we needed for a good nights sleep Cleanliness — 5/5 Everything in the room was nice and clean when we arrived and housekeeping did a great job making up the room Hotel amenities — 5/5 The hotel had everything that we needed including breakfast, a restaurant and a nice room. The pool looks really nice, but we did not use it as the temperatures were not quite warm enough Room amenities — 4/5 We were upgraded to a suite which was very large with a table, sitting room, bed, large closet and bathroom. The down side is that there is never a coffee pot in the room, always instant coffee (but at all 5 star hotels we stayed at in Jordan it was the same) breakfast — 5/5 We had breakfast included in our rate and it is well worth it. Breakfast station to cook you up fresh eggs, lots of pastries, cheese, meat, and several other items Noise level — 5/5 No issues being woken up by noise.

It is an excellent hotel, beautifully decorated. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Probably the best hotel in Petra, and the one near the site. So no effort to do to complete their facility. The Dead Sea is much more enjoyable and half priced! But the kindness of the staff comes to raise the level; Thank you especially to the restaurant manager especially nice and pleasant.

The hotel is very close to the historic centre.

Treat yourself to one of the best suites in the hotel with a view of the entrance to the archaeological site. The rates remain extremely reasonable even for this type of service. Several restaurants, choose the gourmet Restaurant for dinner and take a snack in the large patio. Superbly equipped Suite, refurbished, Nespresso machine, and all kind of attentions. This adds to the dream of visiting the archaeological site.

Came here for lunch at the lobby area. We had the Arabic platter. The platter was very tasty and not over priced. Hotel itself looked chic and upscale and was super clean. The staff was very attentive. Over all the menu was fair priced, compare to the local resturants near the Petra entrance.

Superbly located hotel right next to the Petra ancient site entrance. Very nice communal areas and bedrooms are good. Reception staff extremely helpful and the breakfast buffet was superb. Omelettes, eggs and waffles made to order along with a hot and cold buffet selection.

The best, the location, at the gates of Petra, which is greatly appreciated. It's a 5 * Oriental style, well, but not suited to what we expect is Spain of a hotel of those characteristics. I recommend it!

DON'T GO TO THE ICE CREAM PARLOR! We just went and were very disappointed. The service was terrible. We waited over 15 minutes for 2 bowls of ice cream! After the girl took our order she proceeded to serve others who came in to get drinks to go. She finally gave my wife her ice cream sundae (a last resort because they didn't have any Swiss Chocolate ice cream) that was to include meringues and strawberry sauce. When my wife asked for both the girl didn't even know what meringues were AND IT'S ON THEIR MENU! Then I waited 5 more minutes for my ice cream. So we CAN NOT recommend this place, to be avoided. Definitely not up to Mövenpick standards.

Wen't here for food twice, but didn't stay at the hotel itself. Food was excellent and decently priced. Staff was very friendly with us and made us feel welcome. Buffet has a decent selection and the taste is good.

This hotel is literally right across the smallest read that is in front of the entrance to Petra. I can't imagine why you'd want to stay anywhere else. The location is perfect. And the hotel was very nice. We just spend one night. This was a much nicer Hotel than I thought we would find in this remote area of the world. Very glad that we found it. We got our hotel Petra passes. If you're going to stay at Petra then you can get cheaper passes through your hotel. The locals would really love to have you spend some money in the community so the prices for Petra are cheaper getting them if you're staying overnight at a hotel. It was only about $5 more to get a second day. This was also really nice because we could be at the park entrance at 6 a. M. And get down to the first ruin, the treasury, before anybody else and get some great pictures. The rooms were very nice and very well-kept. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant in the hotel each day and they were very good. Plenty of selection and high-quality. Some of the best food we had on our 12-day trip of Jordan and Israel. There are a couple of small shops just around the corner that are fun to look at in the evening. You could eat there less expensively I'm certain but I would be a little bit cautious with your choices in Jordan in general. You can grab a drink or some souvenirs in the area pretty easily though. You could put this hotel anywhere in the world and be quite happy with it.

I would say it's the best hotel available in Petra, great location very close to the ruin of Petra, some shops around the area, spacious rooms, beautiful atrium, bar, restaurant and excellent food, the staff is very friendly.

8.29.17 — clean and well staffed hotel. Management takes customer care seriously. My favorite part about Movenpick is that they serve sardines, and it's good quality sardines. They are whole and taste nothing like fish. The breakfast spread is very western with elements of Middle East spices. There's an omelet and waffle station, fresh bread and fruit, and strong coffee. The resort is very clean and the rooms feel good and new. There are some rooms you can tell feel old or have been updated.

Best location in the city. Right across the street from the Petra visitor center (and the main attractions it leads to). Beautiful interior and great facilities (including a decent swimming pool and one of the better hotel gyms I've come across).

The strong point with this structure is the proximity to the site of Petra, for this I recommend it. The rooms are large and simple, the low halls are in typical Arabic style.

The service is excellent, and fast. Cleanliness, rooms that are spacious; the food at the restaurant level is very varied.
At Tala Bay Aqaba a very nice beach also the rooms.

Excellent, exclusive hotel with a touch of refinement and unique comfort. Very spacious and comfortable rooms, sauna and Gym, spectacular rooms, several restaurants and… the best everything, located a few meters from the visitors centre and therefore the door of entrance to the enclosure of the city of Petra.

This lobby of the hotel is not the grandest, but it is one of the most beautiful I have ever been to. Don't miss looking at the floor, ceiling, and random tidbits next to front desk! The room itself is alright, a bit outdated for its price point. But the hotel is literally RIGHT ACROSS the entrance to Petra, a minute walk at the most. It does not get any more convenient than this.

— The main reservation team made a mistake when they sent the confirmation email, and when I pointed it out, the guy who made the mistake refused to talk to us and the other staff refused to cooperate. — Rude and very unfriendly staff, especially at the front desk. — AC wasn't functioning well, and when complained the staff snapped and told us to deal with it. — The waiters at the pool stop servicing drinks and food depending on their mode, the policy says at 6pm yet they stop servicing to us at 4:30pm. The hotel is nicely located, but the staff are unfriendly, no hospitality manners, all grumpy, and inpatient.

Its a very beautiful hotel, but the personnel of this hotel is beyond great. We travel a lot & often encounter with personnel of variety hotels in Europe, US, Asia. Never before we experienced such sincere welcomeness & genuine kindness than here at Moevenpick. Everyone from the person who checks you in, who brings your luggage to the room to the waiter in the restaurant make you truly feel like you are their personal guest and they are happy to share their time with you. They are so open & beautiful from inside. We had a truly sad time leaving this place. Petra is spectacular, no doubts, but the people we interacted with made it even more special for us. On our way back home (NYC) we couldn't stop admiring the experience! We would like to give special thanks to Zaid & Mohammad Khamis. Thank you very very much! Salvatore & Zhanna.

Very good hotel with good food, free Wi-Fi, very close to petra entrance.

Nice lobby, very comfortable rooms, the staff is friendly and welcoming and as for the location, a stone-throw from Petra. Overall we enjoyed our stay in this hotel, the only disappointment was the buffet, average food and ridiculously expensive.
