Once you come in, you will be greated by the vivariums that the owners take care of. The place is decorated with cute little figures and some posters. The place feels nostalgic, and is calming as it is really quiet.
Rooms:
The rooms were decent, people tend to over — exaggerate when it comes to the quality, but in reality — the rooms were quite big considering how small some traditional Japanese rooms are. They provide you with electric blankets which are very helpful. The atmosphere is calm and you can easily relax.
Service:
The owners are very kind, they have this small 'restaurant' somewhere in the corner of the building, from there, they will provide you with some foods such as fruits to your room, ensuring that you don't meet other people who stay here.
They have a small onsen in the bottom of the building. Its always hot, making it perfect when in need of a break from the cold weather.
Location:
Yamadaya Ryokan is surrounded by cafes and markets, which can come in handy when in need of a break.
In reality, the place is not so bad as people seem to say — people expect a more luxurious room — but they need to appreciate the effort the owners gave.
