Absolutely the friendly guesthouse owners ever. Such a nice property too and happy to have stayed here waiting out the rain.

Stayed in the double bedroom with my wife. It is a short cycle off the main path and quite close to a Family Mart. When we got to Omishima island quite late in the evening I could not cycle any further due to an injury. Taka was kind enough to help me out! Taka and Kana were amazing hosts and the accommodation itself was great to stay at. The facilities and amenities were more than adequate, and sufficient heating is provided for cold days. I would highly recommend staying here if you are cycling on the Shimanami Kaido over two days.

We loved our stay at Guesthouse Tonari 💕 we stayed for two nights to wait out a rainy day. Not only were Taka and Kana kind and welcoming, but they also were so helpful in helping soaked guests get warm and dry. The house is clean and comfortable inside, and it’s clear they put a lot of thought and care into making this a comfortable place for travelers. Thank you Taka and Kana for your hospitality!

Very nice place, the bed is comfortable.
It is a quiet place and hosts are kind and it was a pleasure to meet them.
They gave us very good advices to where going with our bikes around the islands.
PS: if you use e-bike, is possible to charge your battery there.

Stayed in the dorm — big beds, with curtains, very comfortable and clean. The house has been recently renovated and is nice, with a proper kitchen, and a modern café space. The hosts were welcoming. I would recommend for cyclists looking for a night to break Shimanami Kaido over 2 days.

We stopped at this guesthouse as Omishima was around the midway point of our Onomichi to Imabari cycle. The hosts were very welcoming and the facilities are top notch.
What I would say is that there isn't too much going on at night in the area, other than a seafood restaurant where you can have something to eat and drink.
The rooms were also very clean and beds spacious but it was too hot for me, with the air con was locked at 26°C. I understand that not everyone likes to sleep in a cool room but 26 I think would be too hot for most people.

The couple that owns the place is super nice and hospitable. The guesthouse is well located in the middle of the Shimanami Kaido just a little bit off the blue line. Everything is clean and well organized, the room was super comfortable which was much needed after a long day of cycling. Really recommend to stay here if you’re doing the cycle!

I am exceptionally delighted to make this choice in staying at Tonari.
I arrived after check in time 8pm but the host still welcomes me with patience and hospitality. He speaks good English and we communicate well. He cares for the guest as well as he was concerned if I had dinner as the kitchen was closed.
The place is very clean and tidy, the toilets are white, bright and well maintained. The toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body wash) are of good quality. It has good smell and texture.
The living space is sufficient and most importantly, the kitchen is bright and hygienic with different cloth for different purpose indicated. From these details, you can see that the host cares about the place a lot and much thought has been put into designing and taking care of the place. It’s very hard to find such a guesthouse/hostel as usage are usually high and requires more maintenance. I feel very safe and comfortable living in this space.
Just maybe one suggestion to provide locker for securing personal valuables. Other than that, it’s excellent!

Great guesthouse, located very close to the Shimanami Kaido's path and not too far from Omishima's sightseeing spots. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts and everything was very convenient and comfortable. We even got to eat a truly delicious homemade curry. Amazing experience! English spoken, so feel free to bool a room even if you don't speak Japanese.

Best Guesthouse i’ve been in my 11 months in Japan. The hosts are so kind, very interesting people with a great knowledge of the area.
The bed in the dormitory is very confortable and bigger than usual guesthouses. I advice any traveler to spend at least a Night in Tonari Guesthouse and I wish to be back.

Warm and welcoming service from the owners. Extremely helpful and kind! Highly recommend, stay was excellent. Rooms are tidy and in great location.

Had stayed here during my shimanami kaido ride with my friend. The owners Taka and Kana showed great hospitality and are very friendly. They also had a small cafe at the common area which they served some quick bites and drinks during out stay.
Great place to take a break!

No. 1 pit stop of cycling. It's just 5 to 10 minutes after the Tataro Bridge.
Bed are comfortable.
Actually it's near the bus station and convenience to Rabbit Island ！
Nice host Taka can provide much useful traveling information to you ！

Traveling with a friend we had a wonderful stay here. Very near a fishing park that rents gear for 500 yen. The owner told us about the best beach near the massive shine that is nearby. The owners will treat you like family.

Great couple running a homey stay. Very accommodating and nice place to stay. They recently opened so everything is still new. Layout is well thought and easy. Even has solo workspaces for the digital nomads I guess. We just stayed for one night for the shimanami kaido. Only couple kms off the recommended 'blue' route but close to the port for okunoshima (rabbit island). Definitely recommend you to stay here.

The owners were so friendly and helpful, the building is new and we'll designed, and the room was very comfy. Great place to stay half way through biking the Shimanami kaido!

Kana-san and Taka-san are amazing. They are backpackers with a good amount of international experience. They are easy to talk to even if you aren't a backpacker or cycle touring. The rooms are clean and beds are great. Shower, laundry, kitchen, common room, and a room with desks. Just by a market that you can get great discounts if you time it right. Taka-san will tell you. I had a great time chatting and exchanging information and odd culture experience. This place is relatively new, but they seem to have it mostly dialed and I can only imagine they will get things even smoother over time!
