Let me tell you a story…
Me and my sister had reserved a hotel on the bunny island nearby, only to be turned away at the port after a 35 mile bike ride due to bad weather. We had no way of reaching our hotel and it was 6pm.
We called the nearest accomodation we could find (Wakka) and were greeted with not only open arms but they literally offered to come pick us up in the rain at no cost.
We pulled up to this incredibly unique, well designed, and elegant hotel clearly optimized for biking guests. We were soaking wet and making a mess; nonetheless we were treated with outstanding kindness and affordable accomodation. Shout-out our new Turkish, Japanese, and French friends :)
They offered to reserve and shuttle us to dinner on the island but since the location was closed they simply made us a meal there instead.
We were given a shoe dryer (lifesaver for day 2) as well as a beautiful room with all the biker specific notes I'd dream about.
We had an excellent dinner with an outstanding view and were even gifted some lemon cello made from the grove we biked through that day.
Words can not describe how thankful we were for such a last minute delightful, and I mean DELIGHTFUL, experience at Wakka.
I will 1000% be returning here, next time on purpose. Could not recommend this place more.
Our stay in Wakka was one of the best highlights of our Japan trip. We decided to split cycling the Shimanami Kaido into 2 days and we’re glad that we booked this place to stay. It was like a wonderful reward to a long cycling day. We also got the bbq dinner option with fresh local ingredients. It was a nice way to relax and sit outside overlooking the bridge. Service was amazing. Everyone was so nice.

If I could give Wakka 6 stars I would. We booked our bike rentals and hotel stay with Wakka and they took care of everything. Met us at Onomichi staton with our e bikes, took our luggage to the hotel ahead of us. We rode half the Shimanami Kaido on day one stopping at Wakka Hotel overnight. The service and food was INCREDIBLE. Our room overlooked the water, including the bridge. We paid for the premium BBQ. It was delicious and so fun to relax and BBQ on our porch with amazing, prepped meats, seafood and vegetables with a stunning view. They charged our bikes overnight. Day 2 we finished our ride at Imabari station, where they met us with our luggage and took our bikes. We didnt have to worry about a single thing… just enjoying an epic bike ride. Its worth every penny booking with Wakka!
