Kagoshima SPA hotels

We stayed in Superior room 1. It became of on my favorite beachfront hotels and hope to return some day. Private, clean, steps from a secluded clean beach, service, all boxes checked.

Mesmerizing view from the hotel rooms, great food from local fresh ingredients, good service, spacious cozy rooms. A bit expensive, but worths the price.

Our stay at Sankara was simply amazing. The staff was incredible, and the entire property was immaculately clean. Spa menu was great.

This place must be heaven, there is no other possibility. Immediately upon arrival you are welcomed by gorgeous nature and breathtaking views. The villa rooms are amazing and very spacious.

It was located on top of a small mountain or hill so you either need a car or take the shuttle which goes every 30 mins from downtown to the hotel. The services are good.

The hotel was the perfect place to stay. Even though it was very rainy during our stay it didn't deminish the experience at all, the views were still spectacular.

The Sheraton Kagoshima was our first stop in Japan, and everything was absolutely perfect. The room was spacious and beautiful, with a breathtaking view of Sakurajima.

Probably one of the nicest hotels you can stay at in Japan outside of Tokyo. Service was high-end, with good omotenashi (御持て成し) from the staff and greeting you when entering and exiting the building.

We came to Kagoshima via Cruise and decided to go to an Onsen. When we arrive it was closed until 12:00. We went across the street for lunch then came back. The Onsen is 1300¥ which includes a towel.

We made the reservation a day before arriving and weren't expecting anything. The hotel was a great surprise! The room was nice and the onsens were amazing.

Everything was good! Few of the many places I’d love to come again:) )
What was good was.

Amazing experience! Fantastic apartment, fantastic location, fantastic see and fantastic staff, the breakfast was very good with many options. We loved Yoron Island and we hope to return someday.

The great place to visit. People are so good.

Excellent hotel with a magnificent view of the Kagoshima Bay. My wife and I stayed for two nights and we loved every moment of it.
Our room was clean and spacious with good amenities.

My first choice if departing from Kagoshima airport. There is a convenient bus stop to the airport across the street and a conbini about 5 minutes away by walking.

Unfortunately, the Kagoshima Airport Hotel has closed. Therefore, an acquaintance of mine told me about a nearby hotel that could be reached by rental car from the Kagoshima Airport.

The bath here is truly an experience. It is huge, and the quality of the water is also fantastic. Dinner was also very interesting and delicious.

Great view, large onsen, but for women the onsen is some kind of labyrint to get to the men's part during mixed access hours :-/

Great location with excellent view of Sakurajima. Breakfast is plentiful but maybe a little chaotic during busy period.
Would recommend this place.

Great service and beside shopping area, a distance from city center but the hotel was pretty. Had a 7 course meal, portions are French style fine dining. Staff were simply the best!

A grand resort with a well designed onsen. The landscape and architecture are a bit artificial but with good taste and comfort in mind. The large rooms of the Annex are half western half Japanese.

Absolutely stunning. The website pictures don't do it justice. It's a very large Ryokan/hotel but there was no compromise on service.

The location is just in front of TAKAMIBABA which is 1 station from TENMONKAN by city railway (Shiden), which is 170¥. 5 mins walk to Tenmonkan.

The room is neat and clean. But, you will hear people walking on the alley, especially in the morning.
The onsen is okay, just basic, one pool.

Free Ramen at certain times of day, free ice cream at certain times, manga to read. Jelly and water in fridge upon arrival.

A glorious feast for all those staying a night or more. Various course dinners to choose from, indeed it justifies why it has been in the top 3 for decades with regards to cooking.

This was the first time I stayed at such a high rank hotel and it really deserves the Top 1 in Japan! The staff are really nice. They welcome foreign tourists. Foods are of highest quality. Best ever!

We stayed in the tatami room for three nights. The hotel room is old but as clean as a Japanese hotel. The front staff were guided in English and were very polite.

Best hotel I stayed at during my trip. I was by myself and the hotel was like a tiny apartment with a fantastic view of the mountain. Luxurious if you will.

When staying here, keep in mind that this is not a typical hotel. Room cleaning is only provided for stays of more than 3 nights.

The hotel may be on the older side, but the charm is certainly alive. We had a comfortable room with all that we needed, and received excellent service. The onsen was great too!

It's a unique spot for sure. The sulphur smell in the area and around the onsen takes some getting used to.
Parts of the hotel is great and other parts a bit run down, but great value over all.

Quickly addressing some concerns from previous reviews based on a stay in April 2024. The hotel does NOT feel old. Entryway, amenities, and rooms all feel modern.

All the staff is very friendly, and the amenities are also very good. Very cozy environment, excellent food and very good onsen.

I came for the Onsen and Massage. It was great and convenient, but be warned that tattoos are not allowed.
