Miyajima Guest House Mikuniya Guesthouse

By far, our favourite part of trip to Japan. The hosts were able to immerse us in the all that makes Japan great and just confirm why Japanese people are so special. Walking distances to all the attractions at the island. Would also recommend to visit onsen (public hot bath) just next door.

Absolutely amazing ryokan (traditional Japanese guest house) with wonderful rooms, cheap prices and the most friendly and welcoming host I have seen in a long time. Note that the kitchen and bathrooms are shared (as often the case in guest houses) but everything is spotlessly clean. I will definitely come back!

Can't recommend Miyajima Guest House enough. Traditional Japanese accommodation with very attentive host & good facilities. One of the highlights of my 2 weeks in Japan.

Place well placed, beautiful traditional rooms, a friendly welcome and for those who stay a little longer than an evening of what to attend (guitar, piano, Bilboquet, calligraphy…). There's even a tanuki squatting in the garden every now and then.

+ nice and friendly staff/owner + island is beautiful — Ryokan allows babies/families and in such buildings thats kind of a No-Go (annoys everyone else) — to shower you need to go down and through living room and kitchen — furniture/shower etc. In kind of used condition.

I loved it. 100% recommended. The owner was super attentive and friendly. All the details are taken care of with a lot of mime. Spectacular traditional room with good views. Very clean and tidy. Little Onsen that you can use privately. Breakfast included you prepare yourself in the kitchen. We've felt at home. We'll be back safe!

Clean and well equipped with friendly staff, pleasant and sufficient amenities, all at an affordable price.

The House is great, it is very large and the rooms also. All of them are Japanese style so you will have to make the bed (yourself) with the Futons.

Great ryokan. Good quality-price. Really nice service and hosts. Nice room. Simple onsen which you can privatize. If you are lucky, you can even see racoons by night.

Lots of facilities to use. From Desktop PC to making your own food using their instruments (microwave, toaster, etc. ).

The quality and warmth of the owner makes this site an exquisite place to spend a night on this wonderful island.

It has been a very nice stay, traditional Japanese room ideal for 4 people. You have to arrive by taxi from the station. Everything you can see on foot owner is very friendly and helps you in everything. Very good experience in your onsen.

If you like Japanese style hotels This is your place. He sleeps in futons, by the way som more comfortable than it seems. The bathroom is shared, but it's pretty good. There are Japanese and European baths. The Japanese do not entiedo very well, but in the Europeans every shower has its anteroom to change Asiq is maintained privacy.

Awesome guest house. The experience was perfect. The check in and check out were completely awesome. The rooms and service were extraordinaries (they try to help you with the things to see and do in the island). There is free breakfast and really cheap food to eat in case you couldn't eat on any restaurant of the island. The place is marvelous (15-20min. Walking from ferry and enjoying the Tori). I would like to come back, I hope to do it!

Great guest house which is close to tourist attractions. It is a bit far from the ferry so if you have large suitcases leave it in a locker somewhere. Rooms are ryokan style so make your own bed with mattress and fresh sheets. Kitchen and common room are available for free use with some complimentary food and drinks and some paid items. Would definitely stay again if visiting.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here, the owners were very friendly and spoke excellent English. They gave us lots of information on how to get around on the island like where to eat. They provide good breakfast and drinks. The rooms are very spacious and traditional and our room had a wonderful view.

Loved this place! I was skeptical (and honestly a little pissed) at first, as it was about a 20 minute walk **cough HIKE cough** from the ferry station, and because we didn't know the layout off the island we trucked through the sand during part of the walk with our heavy suitcases in tow. HOWEVER, once we made it was worth it! We were greeted and ushered into the lobby where a little deer was seen from the wall of windows nibbling on a bush in the private garden. The owner (I think? ) was so nice and welcoming! He really made us feel right at home on the island and gave us maps and pointers on all the sights and restaurants. He also told us about two raccoons who frequent the garden (which we ended up seeing and feeding, all thanks to the owner)! The lobby TV also had a large movie selection and the owner was kind enough to put My Neighbor Totoro on for us, which was perfect, as we have been trying unsuccessfully to watch it since we planned our Japan trip! The room we had was amazing. Plenty of space and a gorgeous view. We had to make our own tatami, which ended up being kind of fun :) Overall, It was a magical place and my friend and I highly recommend. TIP: I would suggest bringing only an overnight bag.

A ryokan is cosy, you feel at home.

Homely family-run guesthouse with very friendly owner. We had a room in the upper floor which had a partial sea view. Nice amenities included a cosy living room with PC-connected TV, kitchen with free flow of drinks and breakfast items. Beer and snacks were available at cost. Great place to stay if you are looking for a nice simple sleepover place to catch the night illumination of the shrine.

It is a very comfortable and cozy to stay one or more nights. You can take a quick breakfast at no additional cost. The beds and futons are very nice and the staff super friendly.

This is a beautiful little paradise in the hustle and bustle of Miyajima. The private rooms have views right over the sea to Hiroshima. The walk from the station with luggage is a bit further than you think.

Stayed here for one night, and highly recommand it. Really beautiful place, Staff is incredibly helpfull, and there are a lot of ammenities, (most of them free or with a very cheap price), rooms a typical of japanese traditionnal style. Do not hesitate to stay in this wonderfull place for a very correct price.

This Guesthouse is amazing! Nice ryokan for a good price, with the friendliest owner you can imagine! I stayed 3 Nights and explored the island, absolutely worth it!

So awesome. The price was quite affordable for Ryoukan and the room was awesome, 100% Japanese style. Not only that, they provide some facilities and I really like their living room, it was so cosy on there. Anyway, even you can't speak Japanese, the clerk could speak English, too! I really recommended to everyone who wanna stay in Miyamija Island.

Love this place. The best guest I ever stayed in Japan. The innkeeper Junya was so nice and useful. My boyfriend and I originally only booked to stay one night. The moment we saw the place, we decided to stay for extra night! I will choose this guest house again for my Miyajima trip!
