Very dissatisfied! No glow in the water and the water was very dirty! We were told the water was 4-5 feet deep, that was a lie! I’m 5’10” and I couldn’t touch! We were told we would get a complimentary drink only to find out that was if you choose from 2 drink types! And the woman that took our money was extremely rude! We didn’t know we had to bring our identification. So when she asked for the ID’s to prove who was local and who wasn’t, we didn’t have them. My boyfriend was born and raised in Jamaica, I am from US, he was speaking native language to her and telling her he didn’t have his ID because we didn’t know we had to bring it and she had to audacity to tell him he wasn’t a “true Jamaican” so he had to pay full price! She was extremely rude and should not be greeting customers or working with customers!

One of a kind experience… I highly recommend to di in Jamaica.

Relaxed ambience especially at night when you can see and smell the sea water. This makes the experience more interesting. The staff is courteous as well. There is also a performance stage next to the restaurant with seats in front of it which has a bar as well. The compound is busy especially on weekends up to about midnight or so with people going on the boats to see the organisms that glows in the water. Others may have also rented the adjacent space for their special function.

We didn't go to the restaurant due to a private function there but we took the lagoon tour. It was a great choice! Thoroughly enjoyed it and the captain of the boat was amazing! He kept the mood light and happy and was super knowledgeable. Word of wisdom: wear a white bathing suit. It will glow super bright in the water. I happened to by chance and it turned out really well. BUT the silt in the water might make your swimsuit a bit dirty. So worth it!

The water in the luminous Lagoon is surrounded by mangroves, it becomes illuminated after you swim and disturb the bio-luminescent organisms. The water literally lights up like a glow stick. You can see fish moving the waves of the boat… this is a once in a lifetime experience. Bucket list for me. But everyone that experienced it on our boat was astounded by the beauty. This is a must while in Jamaica.

This is not a place where locals would be comfortable. It is completely overpriced and it's like paying premium money for Box food at the side of a road I paid $9000 change for chicken and rice it was not worth it the rice was like prepared For an animal. The only good thing about it is a bathroom facilities and that is all I would use it for in the future I would never spend another Penny here.

There are only 3 other places besides Jamaica that you can experience naturally glowing waters, so it's definitely a cool, one-of-a-kind experience! And you're able to swim in it! The more you move, the more the waters glow!

An awesome experience to see the rare glowing water. You can stand on your feet to feel the mixture of the muddy and sandy bottom. The tour is a bit short I found and recommend you bring a professional camera to take your own pics during the night. A smart phone camera will not do justice. Otherwise to save the memories, you can purchase the photos from the tour. Book the tour on a day that is very sunny to see more glows!

Great experience. Tour starts after sunset. Duration is for about an hour. Local rate is $1, 500 with presentation of local ID. The luminous effect is best observed when the area is dark. Bring your swim gear and towel so that you can take a dip. Awesome experience for kids as well.

It was a great experience. The sight of the glowing water was remarkable. Customer service wasn't the best but Dave the "Captain" took away all the bad taste with his humor.

Great staff. Stayed at the hotel for 1 night as we traveled around the island. With the stay we received a 50% discount on the lagoon tour and a free breakfast. The staff recommended that we go out on the first tour at sunset. It was in incredible experience. 4 people in our party and 2 of us had no intention of swimming. That changed very quickly. The tour only had about 15 people. As soon as the first person went in the water the rest of us could not wait to get in. The dinoflagellates were extremely active. The blue was very bright and having your body sparkle as you came out of the water was incredible. I would definitely recommend this tour. This has been on my bucket list for 10years and I'm thankful I was able to experience it.

For me it was a great experience. I was amazed because I never knew why the place itself was called glistening waters. I enjoyed the boat tour and I took home some of the water. The food is expensive but it's great. I can't wait for nightfall to see my water glow and even if the bottle is still I watch tiny glistening bubbles whenever my eyes open before daylight. I definitely would do it again.
Oh! Plz help the waiter Jamar with some company, his service was exceptional but on Sunday April 22nd but he had to be all over the place even the bottom dining area asa there was a function going on. For such an attractive entity, there needs to be more workers.

We stopped here for the boat excursion… take a little too much of the tourists ' way… ate discreetly but paid a lot.

Mediocre stuff. Forget about the excursion too. Like Diceba fair: a crazy shitty at $25 for nothing. Thrown.

Nocturnal experience with microorganisms that when agitated by the movement in the water were excited to illuminate with a color with phosphorescent blue. Bath in the water at excellent temperature with a muddy bottom that some users did not like but that you can omit given the unique experience that you can enjoy.

The tour is nice and the phenomenon is amazing! My issue is with the photo they sell you. They take pictures when you swim and the luminous effect. The pictures are alright, the issue is they cost $15 a pop and they send you by email (no hard copy). Since there's no Wi-Fi you can't verify you got it. They give you a card with their email address to get the picture later if you don't get it, but they don't respond and don't care. So don't pay for the photo, it's a racket!

This phenomenon is amazing! I would recommend everyone go there & don't be afraid to go in the water. If you don't know how to swim, they will provide a life jacket for you. Don't miss out on your once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience it!

We did the night tour. When we arrived the young dancers were dancing their hearts out. They were good. I got in the water with the dinoflagellates. Amazing experience seeing the light in the water! Our captain, Captain Dave, was very knowledgeable. The jerk chicken in the restaurant was decent but a little over priced. The sorrel was perfect!

Good afternoon. Write a review directly about the night excursion Glistening Waters Luminous Lagoon Tour Experience Super, it is worth seeing at least once in a lifetime, especially such places on the planet only 4, and in Jamaica, this plankton is the brightest. Cost of excursion per person $25. Just want to warn: 1) If you want to make good photos, bring a good professional camera with a good flash (video similarly), as the photos taken by the photographer will stand another $25, try to make it on the smartphone The latest model is useless (checked).
2) swimsuit or shorts are better to take a dark color or something that is not pathetic, since after swimming swimsuit (shorts) will be dirty 3) the first boats sail in when completely dark (we were at the end of November sunset was about 17:30, boats sail in 18:15), to arrive better Advance.

Very cool but kinda expensive. To experience the feeling of the bottom of the Lagoon is like nothing I've ever felt The bottom is so slky. Then it happens, you start sinking up to you calfs I thought "The Creature fom the Black Lagoon is gonna grab me lol So weird but cool!. The water turning the beautiful blue is unbelievable. Mother Nature is her best!

Glistening Waters is a Hotel where I would definitely stay again. I enjoyed my short time there and the breakfast was Hmmmm… lovely. The room was fresh and clean. The water pressure for showering was splendid. The staff … warm and courteous.

Nice place. I only came here to catch the boat to see the glistening water. While waiting the was live entertainment which was great.

Night tour was great, amazing to see the water light up when stirred up. I enjoyed it even if I 4out of 5 of us got stung by jelly fish. You never know what the tide will bring in. Picture is underwater shoot of the microorganisms when lit up.

I did the Illumination Bay night tour. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life. The water is full of microorganisms that glow whenever disturbed, so when you swim, you're surrounded by a glowing blue aura. It's a once in a lifetime experience.

It was an amazing experience the ambiance was great, the customer service at the front desk was excellent (all thanks Jenna). They also have night boat tours. The food was great as well both breakfast and dinner, dinning on the deck over looking the water. They have live entertainment. It's a warm feeling here. They also have a jerk centre. But overall I would recommend it to any and everyone.

Great place. The food is great and reasonable. Oh I did tjmhe lumious tour. Ive never seen water glow before. Its just simply amazing.

This was our second time to Glistening Waters over the years. While the water didn't glow as much as it had years ago, we believe because of the full moon this time, it is still a neat experience to splash around in watch the water light up. The dinner is in a nice setting. Food around average. Overall, a good evening. Staff on boat took pictures which ended up being the only family picture we had over our whole trip, so we appreciated that. If it's not far from where you're staying, I'd give it a try. Staff and fellow passengers help to make it fun.

The live shows in the evenings can be hilarious or just plain amazing. There are some really talented people here.

That place, does not deserve a (-☆), the worst in Jamaica, the hotel, was dirty, mold, on the pillows, stain sheets, (Gross). The rooms smells damp, we were a group, with multiple rooms. Most of us, requested a room change, within an hour of checking in. They need staffs, and clean linens. Horrible Experience, there are too many nice hotels, and resorts, in Jamaica, after a long flight, Than this mold infested dump.

Very cool place to check out. We arrived before sunset as they provide refreshments before boarding the boats. As the name implies, the waters glisten and glow after the sun goes down. The algae in the water contains phosphorus which light up when the water is disturbed. No it's not dangerous, and yes they allow you to swim in the river. They provide you with life jackets for those that down swim so well. Our guide was great and even took time to show us little things here and there and explained the phenomena of the glowing waters. We even had a fish jump into our boat! Although my wife and I didn't go swimming, we both still had an amazing time.

The Lagoon tour was so amazing! It was such a serene experience to swim in the cool waters, and the silt at the bottom feels like it could be some pharmaceutical quality mud, and made mine and family skin feel amazing. The tour guide, who was called captain, was kind and funny. Great experience, will recommend!

How about reviewing the family ethics.   This family and their son have taken the son of someone extremely close to me.   Not only did their son take him without the mother's permission or consent but took him out of the country when it specifically says in the custody papers that he must have consent and permission from the boy's mother to do so.   This family and their son now refuse to let the boy's mother know where they are and what they are doing and when he will be returning and have continuously blocked her number so that she cannot speak to her son.   Dishonesty in family can only mean dishonesty in business.

Took the tour here and swam in the luminous lagoon which was amazing. Had some dancing entertainment while waiting for the boat. The boat captain was great at telling us awesome facts about the microorganisms that cause the surreal glowing effect of the water when disturbed. Would've liked to have a little more time in the water though during boat tour.

Went here on an excursion to see the water glow at night. Guide did a great job explaining how it all works and even took pictures. Take a water bottle and fill it with water. It will glow for up to 48 hours when you shake it.

The boat trip is a bit overrated and not the best value. Although there is a nice dance show before the trip. The food in the restaurant was OK, but nothing special. The waiting staff could be better. It takes a long time to get food on your table…

Food was mediocre, service during meal was worse. They took so long we didn't have time to finish dessert before the boat left (but that's ok, dessert was almost inedible anyways). On the boat, we had "Captain Dave", who immediately started to insult one of our group with his non-funny jokes. Then there was an in-your-face photographer kid who tried to sell us his photos after. There were two other guys whose job seemed to be laughing at and making comments about the girls in our group. As for the bioluminescent water, it was disappointing as well. You could see a faint glow when the waters were really disturbed, but that was it. We had come here in 2010 and the waters were phenomenal. This time, the whole experience was a big disappointment.

Went here on an ezcursion. It has a nice little sitting area before your boat leaves to take you into the lagoon. When you reach your destination you can get out and swim. Swim really slow so it glows brighter and better. Just dont put your feet on the bottom because it is all kid. The water only seems to be at least 4 ft deep. But overall worth it.

Restaurant with good views and good customer service, clean and good presence. However slow, in the service of the main dishes. Rations very short for the prices that are being handled.

Went to order food to be ready before we went on the boat and were told a number of the lower ticket items on the menu were unavailable. Advised them we were just going to pass and pick up some jerk chicken on the way back to our villa instead and miraculously they said they found some orders of her chicken. Not a fan of being lied to or exploited when traveling. I would recommend signing up for the bioluminescent water however if only because it's so rare.

Make sure you see Q. Face excursion and if it's not summer it's a bit of a scam.

Well we over night at Glistening Waters on September 28, 2016 an I didn't regret staying there. The rooms were spacious especially the bathroom; the beds were clean an tidy; everything worked including the hot water in the tub and face bath. My room was private there was no noice or distraction outside. I felt safe with the marine police station on the property of the hotel. The food at the restaurant was delicious and staff were courteous. The boat ride was a relaxing experience although I was afraid to go out in the water even though I was assured that there were life jacket on board. Anyway the tour guide was awesome he gave us a lot of historical information. In the morning the view of the pier an the ships out on the deck was breath taking. I enjoyed my experience at Glistening Waters although I was just staying one night. I can recommend this place to anyone. One Love Jamaica. :)

The place is amazing and it is recommended to go with a clear sky because the stars give a special feeling.
The photos you take on the site are not special, they use a Nikon of some 200USD which is not the best of all and also the darkness does not allow to take them very well but if your camera allows rear flash is better to use it instead of spending money on a photo that you can take yourself.
The effect on the water is unique, when you shake your arms, feet or boat with the engine you activate the luminescence system and believe me what is magical. If you raise your arms over the water, some particles will remain in your arm and you cannot be missed.
I don't give him 5 stars because the price of photographs is not the same as the photo they take.
