Hotel Fontebella

Our stay at Fontebella Palace Hotel was absolutely wonderful. The customer service here is exceptional — everyone is incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. The buffet breakfast had a great variety of options each morning including eggs, coffee, croissants, meats, and a wide selection of drinks and other items to choose from.
A special thank you to Stefano at the front desk, who was always paying attention to detail and consistently went above and beyond for us during our stay. His kindness and professionalism truly made the experience even more special.
We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Assisi, Italy!

Fontabella isn't a four star hotel. Three, at best.
Cons:
* Small double bedroom with tiny cupboard.
* Exceptionally small bathroom.
* No controllable aircon or heating.
* No irons or ironing boards available for any guests. (Bizarre. )
* Rooms over the main street are very noisy.
* We were overcharged for our room, and had push for a refund.
Pros:
* Great location.
* Lovely valley views from some rooms.
* Open to a late checkout at no cost.

Don't be deceived by the website photos and Michelin-starred restaurant. The hotel is in serious need of a renovation and the restaurant was not opened when we were there. When we checked in, the room was dirty. Bathroom had mould growing and the toilet was not flushed! When we requested to change rooms, we were told that no rooms were available. We were only there for 1 night, so we decided to rough it out. Might have been a better decision to check out cos we spotted insects crawling out of the woodwork late in the night! We checked out immediately when the sun rose!
That said, the hotel is in a great location. Being in the middle of the historic centre means that all the sites are within walking distance. The view from the hotel is also amazing, although you don't have to stay in the hotel to enjoy the view. If you're driving, do note that there is limited parking in front of the hotel but there is paid parking within walking distance.
Definitely not 4-star as advertised. Closer to 2-star. Would give it 1-star if not for its location.

Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were always extremely helpful and courteous. The view of the valley was amazing and the location was central to churches and close to the town square. The buffet breakfast had a good selection.

I stayed for two nights, and it was a wonderful stay. The hotel is situated in the heart of Assisi. All the main attractions are in walking distance. I reserved via booking. Com and I had the option of making my payment at the property. The room was clean and comfortable, with a picturesque view from the window. The staff was very friendly and helpful at the check-in and also at the checkout time. The manager was very kind enough to call a taxi for me. The breakfast was great and pleasant. Highly recommended for everyone who is visiting Assisi.

I cannot tell you how brilliant this hotel is. Fantastic welcoming staff. Nothing is roo much trouble. Lovely room and a great garden menu. They accommodate also a, vegan menu. It's quiet with amazing views of the valley below assisi and an easy walk to shops and anywhere you want to go to ob assisi.

Lovely building and views. We ate at the restaurant outside with vines and flowering shrubs climbing up the rock walls. Service was exceptionally slow and even though this is a Michelin rated restaurant, the food was no more than mediocre.

Stayed overnight on May 29, 2024. The hotel room had a great view and the room condition was good. It's clean and the amenities are great. In particular, the breakfast was really hearty and delicious.
Assisi is truly a very pure and honest city. I Will come again.

Super attentive and kind staff. Excellent cuisine. Excellent service.
