Let me start this review that it is completely beyond my comprehension how this hotel has a 2 star rating or even a star. Make sure you work out before you come because you need to lift your own luggage up steep and narrow flights possibly up to 3 levels. If you’re tall, start ducking because you’re going to hit your head on your way up. Want to take a nap? Enjoy your slim pancake of a pillow and a mattress made for Fred Flintstone. Want to watch some TV? Good luck finding the remote and when you ask for it, they will give you the remote to a different room number that won’t work. If you are lucky enough to find a remote enjoy your graham cracker size of a TV that is one inch away from the ceiling. Want to go the bathroom? Go out your room and share it with 3 other rooms. Want to take a shower? Go out your room and open the magical door to a 3x3 foot square to take a shower that is shared with everybody else. Hot in your room? Don’t worry they got extra blankets in the closet to stay warmer but have an oscillating fan as your AC system. Decor? Enjoy the worn out furniture and messed up lamps. This place is a dump hole. Literally there is a 4 in. Diameter hole in the wall to the outside. Enjoy your stay folks.

What a fantastic stay. My husband and I have just spent 3 nights here in the canal view room 16/5/2018 It has been our best holiday for years. Our room was great, clean and the room serviced daily. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic but good with lovely fresh croissants. The location is fantastic and the area felt safe with great places to eat. If you want a 5 star hotel then pay for one, but, as a two star hotel, I think the Iris is great value. We shall definitely be booking at this hotel for a return visit. Dave and Kris.

Hotel in a very good location with friendly and welcoming staff! Decent rooms, shared facilities always spotless, good breakfast buffet.

Good price, Nice staff, great location. Close to a vaporetto station, 10 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge, right next to a street with a good atmosphere to get out.
On the comfort side, do not expect this 2 star hotel more than it can offer: the beds are hard, the blankets not always clean, the bathroom patched from everywhere… The breakfast is not very good but has the merit of existing.
But it's a great deal for a weekend, especially when you spend your days and evenings outside.

I wouldn't trust this hotel with your reservations. When I booked the hotel I did it from their website. After I made the reservation I noticed I needed an extra day but the website had no way to modify existing reservations so I had to make a second reservation for our last day. When I got to the hotel I mentioned to this to them numerous times and showed them the confirmation e-mail they had sent me for the reservation; I had the conversation with two different people on two different days. They said I couldn't pay for my second reservation till the day of that reservation because it wouldn't show up in their computer system till then. They said everything was good and they understood. When we got back from kayaking on that last day they had removed all our bags from the room and given it to someone else. Instead of honoring the reservation they had already confirmed with us, and moving those people, they moved us to another hotel and paid the difference, which was like 5 euros. The new hotel had a shared bathroom / shower and only had internet on the ground floor. With that type of service I would recommend finding a different hotel.

This is a really bad hotel. The rooms are poorly furnished and in disrepair (shower didn't work, strange burn marks on the table in my room, toilet seat was broken, door to the room didn't close properly). The building itself is noisy and smells unpleasant. Breakfast is a choice between soggy croissants and cheap cornflakes. If you can't afford a better hotel, go to an air B&B or consider looking further afield for accommodation. Had I been in the city for a vacation rather than business, this hotel would have ruined the trip for me.

All perfect, arrive before the check-in time and gave me the welcome breakfast, the employees are very friendly and I have help in everything you need. They go out of their way to make the fun… Highly recommended.

A relatively inexpensive hotel in the centre of Venice. Nice, modest, reasonable — such ladies characteristics. In the morning, breakfast with rolls, toast and coffee.

Good room… only the bathroom a little small but according to the place is normal!

Good location at 200 m from the San Toma vaporetto stop. Nice managers. But it would need to be refurbished.

I do not recommend to anyone this "hotel" which is unsanitary, dirty, the owners are unkind and not efficient. The rooms are not soundproof, you hear everything that happens outside even when the neighbor takes a shower. In the best case if he has one. My room (108) had an absolutely shameful shower, dirty walls, broken tiles, without any water pressure changing temperatures = cold shower. We were 4 to sleep in the room, once seated our respective beds, a friend fell because of a broken bed foot and repaired with Scotch. After reporting, it was impossible for us to have another room or just another bed (a place), the bed was then raised with books. So we preferred to sleep in a double bed (2 beds one place glued) to 3. The table made available was wobbly, so they took my diary then in my suitcase to wedge this one. In another room (131) and even throughout the hallway, there was no shower, just a sink. Common shower (just 1 in a closet). Even our professors were outraged at the state of the rooms, so we decided not to pay the bail (€10 per person). There were rooms without heating and no electricity! The sheets were stained with blood. Ants in our beds, centipedes of 10cm in the bathroom and other animals of all kinds… mildew on the walls, chandelier and flaps broken. The Breakfast (self) was mediocre, a bag of cereals, biscuits and brioches for 67 people (I was on a school trip). Plastic cutlery and no tablecloth.

For the price the hotel is OK.

When we arrived there was not even a hotel at the given address.
So I can't assign a star correction I need to click one otherwise you can't post it. In thought did not get any.

Nice budget hotel. The staff was nice. The rooms were clean. The hotel and the room just had a weird smell like some cleaning agent was used in excess, but it wasn't that much of an issue.

Comfortable, close to the train, nice and quiet. Super Recommended!

The location is excellent. The cleanliness is half hair and the breakfast also, when we went there was no milk to make a latte for example. The bathroom did not work well and in the room it was cold. But if you go for two nights and without many pretentions this well!

When I went with my partner, everything in general was very left in comparison to the photos, both in the common spaces as in the room and the bathroom. Proper maintenance and a little more care for the details would give one or two more stars to my opinion. The second star is for the location which is nice.

Old Middle place with few details, air-conditioned room, bathroom, small tele, hairdryer and towel dryer, shower. Recommended for travelers with not much money. Breakfast at the free place fairly well, with self service.

Old and dated (not antique). Odd smell. Furnished with second or third hand mismatched elements (not vintage). Shared bathrooms like of cheap hostel. Unbeareably hot in summer with no air conditioned nor even fans. We understand that the center of Venice is expensive and that this hotel is cheaper than others, but there are limits to what is decent to offer for the price!

Perfect if you're looking to do Venice "on the cheap". Perfect location for walking around Venice and very close to the grand canal if you'd prefer to travel by boat. Very helpful and friendly staff. Was clean, but could do with some general maintenance here and there. It's not the best, but you could do worse. I'd stay again if the price was right.

Indecent rooms, disgusting rooms, zero cleaning, stayed at the years 80 '. Shared bathroom, no air conditioning system for the modest sum of €120 a double! To call it hostel would make more beautiful figure! Breakfast unworthy of this name! I was shocked by this place! Shame!

I liked the Staff but the cleanliness of the house, the location I would say good because out of the chaos of the center.

It was close to the Grand Canal. They had good service recovery but I had to push my point that the air-conditioning was really broken before they changed my room and gave me an upgrade.

The bathroom in the room was terrible. Barely any furnishings. We only got one towel per person. Nothing to put on the floor when coming put of the shower. The towels weren't clean and the man at reception was reluctant to give us another. The TV is tiny and seems from the 70's. Almost no toiletries given. Way, way too expensive for what you get.

Bad hotel, terrible bathrooms, bad breakfast. A hotel to avoid.

Reasonably priced Hotel (which is rare in Venice) but with average comfort.
The cleaning is made with alcohol to burn, which embalms the hotel in an unpleasant odor.
In the alley, there is a bar whose guests feast in the street, under the windows of the rooms, until late at night.

Air conditioning doesn't work. Dilapidated premises. Home very average…

Broken shutters, window impossible to close, cable TV cut, bad facilities (Clim), breakfast really average: many points that justify my bad note despite an attractive price and a fairly good location.

Our shower was missing a door, but other than that everything was great! Nice staff, nice breakfast, and not too bad of a price.

Room and bathroom indecent. Dirty. Insufficient service. Poor breakfast Good location, but more than 2 stars seem to me 2 stables.

Very very bad customer service, very rude receptionist was yelling at customers and not accommodating at all. He got up from chair and yelled and almost ready to fight. Rooms are low quality, dirty, did not smell good. Do not recommend at all, price is not worth it at all! Avoid by all means possible.

Central location, very convenient for travel in all directions. Mooring of Line 1 and 2 of Vaporettos less than one minute away.

True chaos. They missed our Booking reservation and we had to sleep one night in another hotel and then came back the next night and then change to another room on the 3rd night. 3 night, 3 different rooms and 2 different hotels. We paid for a double bed for 3 nights and only had it one night. We had to sleep in separate beds. No refund! For 86 euros a night we deserved much better. Very expensive considering the poor service and the old furniture.

Not hot water. No heating enough. All is dirty. The last night I changed hotels.

This place is in a complete state of disrepair, and does not meet even the most basic standards of hospitality. What used to be a kitchen and courtyard are now both filled with junk. There were people sleeping in the lobby at night. Bedding was old and full of holes. The air conditioning did not work. I woke up covered in bites from something. The toilet leaked. The phone was disconnected. THERE WAS NO HOT WATER! The shower door was broken. There was water coming down the walls from something upstairs. Mold in the corners. Terrible Wi-Fi. Staff didn't seem to care at all that literally everything is falling apart. I'm not kidding, I only had one slightly warm shower in 5 days. The rest were ICE COLD. Seriously… I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews. I travel a lot and this was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. Ever. Go somewhere else. Sleep in the street if you have to. You'd be better off.

The room we stayed in don't have shower so if you live on the 1st floor you have to go to the 2nd floor to use the shower. Wifi worked quite fine in our room. But if you live on the 2nd floor, the Wi-Fi can only be accessed in the front desk.

Great location for sightseeing.

All I have to say is "ROOM 28", was sent — — not shown, to see if it was acceptable IT DOESNT EXIST bad joke by a bad man in presumably a bad hotel, when returning the key and asking for an explanation, he confirmed there is no ROOM 28 then we where directly told to leave!?

The staff was friendly, but we had a number of issues with the stay. After coming back to the hotel to find that all of our stuff had been moved to a different room without our consent or any warning at all, we experienced a variety of unfortunate things (expanded below). The air conditioning in the new room didn't cool at all (and, later, the nearly — useless fan gave out). It was approaching 90 degrees and the 24/7 noise outside the windows made opening them for a breeze unpleasant when trying to sleep. We only had hot water one of the two days we stayed in the new room. The bathroom was quite smelly, and the vent didn't function. That said, the room did seem to be clean. I've been given the impression that the issues such as AC and smell are somewhat pervasive to the area, so maybe we shouldn't have been surprised given the relatively low price.

That's not a hotel. Every hostel I've been to was actually better. our room was covered with water spots, caused by the broken shared-shower upstairs. Since this shared-shower was broken, they provided a second one, shared as well of course, which they installed in a storage cabinet on the second floor. I can't think of any way to use this shower, since there is no place to put your clothes or whatsoever in a dry spot, which means that you would have to walk around the 'hotel' covered only by your towel. Also, it really doesn't look clean. Not what I expected, and I'm really not a demanding person when it comes to hotels. bed was fine. if you look for a cheap place to stay, go for it. If you look for grumpy receptionists, go for it. If you like a wet room, that's the place to stay! if you're one of those people that do not like to take a shower, hotel Iris is definitely your address. I'd recommend booking a hotel in mestre, just outside of venice. There it's much cheaper, and busses or trains go to venice every 10minutes, and it takes only 10 minutes.

Quiet hotel, friendly, Central, great for walking to visit every part of the city. Friendly and helpful staff.

Value for money location excellent and staff were perfect for bon has too many demands and wants to stay in the Centre of Venice at a low price.
