Hotel Borgo Casanova

We stayed for one night and found this to be ideal for the purposes of a brief visit such as that. Less than 10min walk from the train station (which also has metro & airport bus), and a similar distance to the bustling historic centre.
It is in a slightly rough area, but this is not uncommon in cities. Areas near to train stations usually are a little rough. Nor the hotels fault or in their control.
We found it fine, local restaurants and shops (including a great mini mart — all you need and very cheap) nearby so there was always passer-by’s. So did not feel unsafe.
Check-in could lead to confusion. It is via a hotel nearer the train station which we only know by chance as we asked about luggage storage in advance and they said to go there. If we haven’t asked I am not sure if they would have contacted us to tell us to make our way to the other hotel 1st.
The service was excellent upon check-in. Received early check-in from very friendly staff. The cleaner was just finished on arrival and warmly received us. And the breakfast on the terrace was a nice setting, we had to leave sharp and the staff were very accommodating by providing takeaway boxes to carry breakfast with us and takeaway espressos.
Room itself was although small was very clean and comfortable. Great shower! Toilet seat was loose, an easy fix for the hotel.
For €65 it was excellent value for money.

The rooms are, as said in other reviews, a 5 minute walk from reception.
Breakfast on the roof is great, not great scenery though. But nice food, good coffee, continental breakfast, people in the UK would recognise.
The biggest issue for us, is the dividing room door. There were an Italian family of 6-7 in the room next door (ages from young upwards), and they just shouted and screamed at each other until 11pm for both the nights we stayed there. If there was a wall instead of a locked door, it would have been bearable for my son who goes to sleep on holiday at 9pm. We put towels on the floor by the door, and the chairs, trying to dampen out the sound.
If it wasn’t for this, the room was absolutely great.
The location is near where you want to be, transport links are great to the airport and train station, and the tours go from the train station at a 10 minute walk.
The reviews say they don’t like the surrounding area, but it looks like most of the rest of Napoli to me, just very different to the other main cities in Italy you’ll have visited.
If I was coming here again, I would consider staying in this hotel again, but I would request a room without a divining door!

I am sorry to say we didn’t have a good experience in this hotel. The room is in a residential building with no reception, this is situated in a different hotel 5 minutes away. It wouldn’t be a problem if we knew what to do and where to go to check in and get our keys, but on our arrival at the address we had no idea what to do and we stood outside the door for about 20 minutes not knowing where to go.
A man who works at the nearby shop told us where to go and thank god, I honestly thought we had been scammed and I was ready to go look for a hotel for the. Ight. There is no sign outside the door to tell people about the other hotel, there is a sign with a phone number but when you have a foreign mobile phone it’s very expensive to call and when I did the call was disconnected anyway.
We managed to get our keys, a bunch of 4 keys most of which work really bad. The key to the room just spins and spins around, it took us 5 minutes to open the door.
Our room wasn’t in the main building so we didn’t realise that the other door was the entrance for other rooms and where the breakfast was in the morning. Again, a simple sign would have saved us 10 minutes of confusion and frustration.
Inside the room there was a really bad smell of dump, the tap in the bathroom was loose and the toilet lid was broken.
In general, it wasn’t a nice experience, the best thing was the staff, I give them a lot of credit because they were all really nice, polite and just absolutely stars.
