Brilliant staff so helpful and friendly and the place is spotless.

A group of us had a great meal in Shines last Sunday for a celebration. We had our own private corner with loads of space which was ideal. The food, service & atmosphere was perfect. I had the steak sandwich which was very tasty We will definitely be back xx — с Donna Costello.

One of the most amazing places to eat! The staff are so friendly and kind! The food is absolutely amazing and the bar is so much fun! The best way to end a meal!

The top barman stephan is so friendly he makes you feel at home the craic is good and the food is top class.

We had dinner here yesterday and the food was terrible. I had bacon and cabbage which I didn’t eat (bacon was so dry, cabbage was inedible and the mash was lumpy). My daughter had roast beef which was cut an inch thick and was so dry! She needed a drink to help her swallow it and that’s no exaggeration. Needless to say we won’t be back.

Booked a birthday there, after talking to them by phone 3 times, dropped a cake in and photos they still weren’t ready when we arrived
Staff are lovely polite and helpful. but the supervisor is a JOKE and RUDE, spent most of her time smoking outside and on her phone, when she did appear she got orders wrong, forgot orders, spent most of her time rolling her eyes, I feel sorry for the other staff.

Nice 2 night stay in Shines. Very friendly people. Anna you are a diamond.

Had our daughters 16th party here. Start to finish the experience was amazing! Sorcha and Martina were so friendly & put up all the decorations, set up cake & tables. They made sure we didn’t want for anything! The food was tasty & on time & everything ran like clockwork. It’s an ideal venue for a party — big or small. Very impressed.

We celebrated a hen party last weekend at Shines.
It is a fantastic venue for a group of friends. They have great bedrooms, large dining area, lovely food & a very relaxed atmosphere, we all loved it.
Hazel, Stephen & staff were all excellent to deal with & no request was too much.
Thank you for helping us make the hen weekend so special, we will definitely be back again!

Yes I would. It's an easy walk to town and a very good staff.

Went to eatch the match nice place only downside was only 1 non-alcohol drink to choose from.

Nice and clean spacious room with access to laundry, Wi-Fi, and located just above the pub and restaurant. Lots of parking space also available. Hospitable staff and lovely people.

Nice spacious room and ample parking space. The patrons in the restaurant are friendly and the latte tasted well.

Random decision to go out had the most amazing steak highly recommend it, fantastic food and good value… compliments to the chief and friendly waitress. :) will be coming back.

Shines have gone from homemade fries to cheap skinny fries & this for me & My husband — has brought the ratings down. We use ta love the steak sandwich — but not d same with diff fries.

This is a excellent restaurant located ever so slightly out of town. The staff are consistently friendly and are always welcoming to new customers. The food always meets expectations and I can safely say I have never left disappointed.

I go here quite frequently with my rather large brood for lunch, evening meals and have held christenings etc here also. Impeccable service, the food is always top notch and the staff are always more than accommodating. I have two sons with autism, as well as 2 small boys and triplet babies and the manager himself always makes sure we have room to relax while enjoying our meal. Would definitely recomend to others. Keep up the good work guys. Xx.

It not that I disliked it. The menu. Had 5 main course to choose from and when we finished eating we were so thirsty. The food was that salty. Just. Very poor selection.

The rooms are very spacious, more like hotel rooms than a guesthouse. Excellent value. Central location to Athlone Town. A lovely restaraunt downstairs and an old school bar also where the fire is always lit and the Guinness flowing.

Great friendly bar staff especially Francis is a sound man.

Very good and lively pub. Always a crowd around. If ur after a good pint. This is the place.

Didn't stay here, but have been to your bar/ restaurant a few times. The food has always been good, very friendly staff and good value.

A cosy little bar. A seperate dining area with its own bar. And rooms above. Attentive staff and reasonably priced. And Wi-Fi.

Very good place. Large rooms, good beds. Some street noise on front rooms but OK.

We ate here yday on the way back from dublin! Well my god we were not disappointed! My bf got the steak burger & I just had the spring rolls as I wasnt that hungry! The food was unbelieveable, so so tasty & fresh! The burger was huge homemade with onion rings (2 lares) tomatoes, cheese salad on the side & homemade chips & the icing on the cake was the peppercorn sauce, unreal Cannot fault it! Spring rolls 2 decent size rolls aswell, were made fresh & side salad the same with the sauce, all this for €17 so reasonable! we will most definetly be back soon! Thanks again! Also to the blonde lady who served us, very friendly & helpful!

Very nice rooms/beds nice big shower. Not too far from the town centre. 6 or 7 euro in a taxi. Nice quiet area. Nice food. Friendly staff. And very reasonable prices.

Shines bed and breakfast in Athlone is family run. The B&B accommodation is located within walking distance of the town. Very east to find.

Shines B&B Athlone Shines Bed and Breakfast in Athlone is a wonderful family run B&B withing walking distance of the centre of Athlone Town. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. This is the former home of the singer Brendan Shine. There is a bar and restaurant attached to the premises, making for top entertainment. We really enjoyed our stay at Shines in Athlone.
