I’ve been really impressed with this hotel chain. And especially the recently rebranded and refurbished ‘The Green’ — I like it because it is one of the leading privately-owned hotel groups in Ireland. The breakfast is sooo good. It’s part buffet, part order. Not over the top, not under done… just right. Check Out my photos and video. It’s on the quiet side of St Stephens green which allows you 3 minute access to the hub and buzz of Grafton Street but far enough away to be in the quiet zone of the city centre. The group was established in 1990 with the opening of the first hotel; The Mont Clare Hotel in Dublin. Since then, the Group has opened three additional hotels in Dublin – The Davenport Hotel in 1993, The Alexander Hotel in 1997 which was refurbished and rebranded to The Alex in 2017, and The Stephen’s Green Hotel in 2000 which was refurbished and rebranded to The Green in 2018. Each one of their hotels is unique in its style and offering. The Dublin hotels are perfectly located at the heart of the city and offer beautiful state of the art design as well as top class service to ensure a truly memorable experience. While developing its portfolio in Dublin, O’Callaghan Collection continued its expansion internationally by opening two international properties – the Eliott (Gibraltar) in 1996 and Tamburlaine (Cambridge) in 2017.

Stayed here for 3 nights recently, while it was very hot in Dublin. Air conditioning was not working, I asked repeatedly on different days to have it looked at, the lobby staff looked at it but they didn't bring anyone in to fix it. Instead of fixing the AC, they gave me a fan which made a terrible rattling sound. Would not recommend.

The hotel was lovely and very clean. Our room wasn't ready for us to check in on time but we were very pleased to recieve a complimentary upgrade for our inconvenience. Twice we went to the hotel bar to get a drink and both times we waited 25 minutes to be served. The first time was because there was a bar man on and it was his first time working in the bar even though I was the only one to be served. The second time the bar was a little busier with maybe 6 people to be served. On the second occasion it took 25 minutes for the customer in front of me to be served 2 gin and tonic. A third customer walked away leaving his room number as he had been waiting 45 mins to pay for 1 beer. Lovely hotel but would advise more training for staff or get more experienced staff.

Beautiful upgrade since our last visit three years ago. The rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable. The staff, as always, are true professionals.

Incredibly disappointed does not come close. Stayed with them 1 year ago and was appalled, one of our worst hotel experiences — from dirty sheets on the bed (which consisted of two single beds pushed together instead of the double room we paid for), to broken glass in the picture frame and strong smell of vomit in the room (among several other things…).
I did not review at the time as I was promised a complimentary stay by the Duty Manager when next I needed it and that every effort would be made to make up for the complete disaster of our last visit.
Today, I went to book a return visit against my better judgement (sure, anyone can make mistakes, and they seemed at the time to want to rectify the situation) and have now been told that the best they could do for me is a 'special' rate of €219 for 1 night's stay. Disgraceful, especially given the appalling conditions they left us in on our last stay — avoid, avoid, avoid.

We stayed in the O Callaghan Stephen's Green For one night, and we ya a fantastic stay. The hotel is beautifully refurbished, and the staff are so helpful and friendly. It’s so central, just off Stephen's Green, and you can easily park in one of the nearby car parks. We slept late accidentally and thought we had missed breakfast, so we phoned reception to see if we could get some coffee and scones and they said no problem at all, come down and we’ll get you breakfast, even though we were 30 mins late. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Check in was very short, no help with baggage, no description of amenities or surrounding area. Room was clean. Very disappointed. Will not recommend.

Very nice hotel (despite renovation works going on), brilliant location, friendly staff and superb vegetarian breakfast!

Very nice hotel, good location, breakfast is delicious. And the view from the room is really nice. Only downside: The room is poorly soundproof, you hear everything going on in the hallway, and the curtains are not really obscuring if you are used to sleeping in total darkness.

Room was pretty cold, even with keycard & space heater. Location was great. Water went from warm to 2nd degree burn in 2 seconds.

Spur of the moment dinner on a recent business trip. Really top notch food and service. Steak, red wine, pudding, way too much to finish… memorable!

Oppressive Management on the staff feeling on the customer. No heating in the bathroom (hotel freshly redone…)

It's not what the pictures show, it's in renovations. The rooms are outdated even though they are clean.

The hotel was unprepared at check in they only had 5 rooms and we booked 6 rooms had to wait an hour for the desk to find a room. Bar was inadequate and disappointing. We came to Dublin looking for Guinness which is not as good in the US and then there is no Guinness at the bar If you plan to refurbish close the hotel until you are ready give client the best possible service not acceptable.

Good evening, the location is great, staff was very nice, seemed inexperienced as I couldn't find the my assigned room as it was in the 'new part' for which the routing was not explained. The manager is clearly a nice guy, driven, but the rest of the check in staff was 'flat'. The breakfast was fine, it would be handy to have the discussion at check in as I never like to have to discuss and pay in the morning and prefer it on the room. Point of comment is the Wi-Fi, besides not too strong its unsecured, seems nice, but is extremely unhandy for a business traveler, I need strong secured free Wi-Fi to be able to work. Couldn't hang my towel anywhere in the bathroom and the light on the room 'do not disturb' I always forget resulting in a not made up room when returning from a long day, sh. This would also be handy to discuss at check in or so.

Part of the hotel is in works so bad value for money. Breakfast just at the level. On the other hand excellent situation.

The current entrance to the hotel and reception area is so unappealing that I almost cancelled my reservation. The Art Deco style of the breakfast bar counter is attractive but it is marred by the sickly eau de nil colour of the woodwork and the "thrown together" plywood reception desk. I am aware that renovations are taking place, but a few euros would be well spent improving the reception area which is the first impression of the hotel. It is disconcerting to be eating breakfast beside people checking out. A lick of paint to the woodwork in the corridors upstairs would also brighten the dark dreary atmosphere. The breakfast food was tasty and the room was fine but I wouldn't recommend a stay here. The location is the most appealing feature.

The fact the restaurant was closed proved to be a blessing. Found an incredible Indian restaurant (Pickle) as a result. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. Ideal location for my meetings next day. Would stay again.

The hotel has to be renovated and it's time as the decoration really dates… The rooms on the street side are noisy.

Traffic noise, grotty bathroom, no in room dining, duvet cover was torn, duvet felt old and bobbly, air conditioning didn't not work so room was freezing. They did not move me to another room. Awful! Hope I never stay here again.

The hotel is under renovations which I was not aware of. The rooms could use a soft renovation with furniture updates as well as the bathrooms. The property was clean and the staff very courteous when approached. They have a lovely glassed in dining area to watch Dublin life go by as you enjoy your Irish breakfast. I'm sure once renovations are complete the strategically placed hotel will shine!

Very overpriced. Was room only for 1 person €185 per night mid week! Was advertised as having a gym & restaurant on site but when I arrived I was told the hotel is under construction & that these facilities wouldn't be available during my stay. Staff did offer to order in food from another establishment. I was very disappointed about the gym. The location was city centre. I asked for a quiet room that wouldn't be facing a busy street & in fairness that was provided.

We enjoyed our stay at your hotel. The staff were very helpful in particular Greg on reception. It is in a great location. We had our breakfast at 7-45ish. However, our son had breakfast later and ordered a cooked breakfast. He was waiting so long, he had to go without it.

We loved the hotel! The location is great — on Stephen's Green, and within walking distance of Grafton Street, Gaiety Theatre, National Library, National Art Gallery, National Museum… The room was lovely. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and polite.

Good hotel, well placed. Their breakfasts are worth a visit.

I am very disappointed in my stay at this hotel. 1. No washcloths provided; only hand towels and bath towels. I have never stayed at a hotel where washcloths were not provided. 2. I could not control the temperature in the room. The first night was very warm in the room. The second night I tried to lower the thermostat but nothing happened when I pressed the buttons. The word "central" was on the display and I called the front desk. The manager said that is was controlled centrally and he went to the basement and reset the temperature for me. All other hotels I stay at allow guests to adjust the temperature of the room. 3. Bed was very hard and the pillows were hard and flat. 4. The day before checkout, there was a bag left in our room to order a "Grab and Go" breakfast. I thought this was a great idea because we had an early flight and had no time to stay for breakfast. I asked for 2 breakfasts to go. The instructions indicated that I leave the bag on the outside door knob before bed. I left it out at 5 pm before we left for the evening. The bag was still there when we opened the door at 7 pm the next morning. Oh well. No breakfast.

Excellent central location with the added bonus of being straight across the street from Stephens Green for a nice "green" 10 minute walk into the centre. Staff were very courteous and helpful — particularly when we had a problem with a cancelled return flight! We never had to walk more than 15 to 20 mins to get to any of our target sites — whether cathedral, art gallery, museum or traditional Irish Pub. We would certainly choose Callaghan Stephens Green again should we decide to return to Dublin in the future.

Generally good. Rooms clean and good size bed etc. Corridors dark. Breakfast quite good but not a wide range of food on offer. For the price I would have expected better quality service and general facilities. Front desk were quite professional but not particularly friendly. Room service was slow and needed more than one call to reception.

First impressions are important, our first impression on entering the hotel on Monday afternoon was pretty disappointing. The mat at the door was filthy, the floor not particularly clean and the tables in the foyer stained and untidy. Our room was smart enough and pretty clean although the view from the room was abysmal. We were only staying for one night, we did enjoy our stay with the bar probably being the hotels best feature. The staff were friendly and efficient, I understand some upgrading of facilities is planned, hopefully starting at the entrance.

Good location and kitchen. There are no slippers, bottled water and coolers in the rooms. Very small gym, nowhere to turn. In part rooms (we had corners) — very poor Wi-Fi, slow and off cliffs. The hotel couldn't solve the problem in 2 days.

A very cozy hotel in the heart of Dublin. Large and very quiet rooms and friendly staff.

Manager not good with customer service. Beds could use updating and bring your own pillow theirs are flattest I have ever seen. Location is only thing that is appealing.

Hotel looks good. Warm welcome. Room large and clean. Bed big and comfy. Bathroom good size. Sink cracked right across. Shower screen thick with mould at the bottom. Slept well. Good sound insulation. Breakfast good but scrambled eggs cold and black pudding dry. Sausage bacon tomatoes all good. Would have been 5 stars but the bathroom let them down. I can forgive the breakfast as it still tasted good.

The location was amazing. The hotel itself sucked. We had a mini suite that had the most amazing view of a dumpster (who places the suites next to the dumpster? ) and smelled like 1984. I don't really know what that means but I'm going with it just smelled old. And looked old everything was out dated in the room and one of the tvs didn't work. That being said, the location was amazing so this place might pass as some place to passout but don't spend the extra money on a "nicer" room. Completely not worth. Next time I'll just spend less money and stay somewhere actually nice.

Rooms were ok nothing special. Food was absolutely pathetic. My wife asked for steak for tea and to have the steak well cooked as she was pregnant, which came out raw as raw can be. It was a new chef but if a chef can't cook steak there isn't much hope for him. I asked the manager would he happily eat it and his reply was I would indeed sir. Also 1 of the staff karen was very ignorant towards us!

We had booked on priceline, and then followed up with a phone call to let them know we had two toddlers and would need a roll-away bed for them. When we arrived, there was no note of our request. They responded with " No problem! Head to your room and we will sort it out right away. We got into our room, and noticed that it was quite small, and wouldn't fit another bed. Before I could even call, the duty manager called the room, said he already knew a bed wouldn't fit in that room, and said they were adding another bed to the Junior suite next door and we could move there as soon as it was ready (approx 10 min). No extra charge, no snarky attitude. Great service all around. Rooms were both super clean and recently refurbished. TVs were a bit out of date, but that is pretty much everywhere in downtown Dublin.

A stunning hotel. The room was spacious, the bed huge. Lovely bathroom. The bar and food were lovely and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Room service was over priced. Tea and food was cold and also had to pay extra 5 euro for the tray it came on! Room cold. Milk in room was out of date. Wouldn't stay again.

Quite close to most of the sights except Kilmainham Jail and Guinness Storehouse. Breakfast was excellent and kept us going all day and the service was excellent. Our room, 1422, was clean and tidy but the wc would not flush properly. We reported this twice but whatever they did didn't fix it, indeed on our last night it failed to flush at all! I resorted to the time old fix of filling the waste bin with water and using that to do the flushing.

I love this hotel I was in there in Thursday and Friday and Saturday and Sunday and I was go home the night in sunday I love this hotel and this hotel can be my favorite and this is first time I have go to Ireland I have never going to Ireland so this was first time and I love Dublin and this hotel and I can maybe coming again in this Hotel and thank you for my for this great Hotel I am happy :)

We stayed from 8th to 10th July 2014. What fantastic service. The Duty manger Juan and his staff delivered 5 Star service, nothing was too big or too small. I will be staying again when I am in Dublin and I would highly recommend staying here. Food = The food was superb, the chef delivered excellence and was a very pleasant chap indead. Beds = Surprisingly comfortable, slept like a baby. Rooms = Very clean (with the exception of the awful smell in the bathroom. Poss a plumbing issue. ) However, I will say once we reported it, we were moved immediately to another room and The Duty Mgr Juan was fantastic in dealing with the matter. Overall, we had a great stay and will definitely stay here again.
