I recommend the staff, they are superb! Great feel about the place with Excellent menu! Bedroom’s are average but no way 4 Star! Breakfast was well presented and served in a expedient manner! Prices need revisiting. Having said that I enjoyed my visit!

I would recommend the Shirley arms hotel as they are very friendly and helpful, we just had my mams 88th birthday 🎂 here today. I can’t wait to come back again. Thanks for everything. Claire, Ciara and staff thank you all so much for making our stay so enjoyable.

Absolutely amazing food, so so good and staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, highly recommend.

We had our wedding in the Shirley Arms in December and honestly could not recommend it highly enough. Everything from the setting to the staff to the food was top quality.
The newly renovated function room downstairs was a perfect size for us and would recommend it for any occasion.
There was a great atmosphere the whole day right through to breakfast the next morning.
I can honestly say not one person was disappointed and had nothing but good things to say.
We'd like to again thank Micheal, Ciara, Fainse and all the staff for helping us have a wonderful day.
We're looking forward to getting back inside the doors again, hopefully it won't be too long!

We got a takeaway tonight and it was fabulous. Please keep the duck pancakes on the menu. They were so delicious.

Had a wonderful meal today on the home from our staycation, the food is unbelievable, the staff are so friendly and the place is spotless. Well done to the management and staff and ps. The seafood chowder was devine. Thank you.

The food was perfection, mash and gravy in particular, outstanding, will definitely be back, fabulous, nicest Neal IV had out in a long time.

Recently held a christening lunch in The Shirley Arm's. The food as always was top class, only bettered by the service. A number of guests stayed in the hotel on the night, and said the accomodation and the breakfast were of the same high standard. I couldn't recommend the place more, top notch. My first visit today to the Shirley Arms Hotel. Excellent food, very cozy. Friendly staff. Would definitely eat here again.

Fabulous hotel, just back from a meal in the restaurant… could not fault it, from the moment we walked in until we left. Food is gorgeous and not overly expensive, staff were amazing especially Gemma who looked after us VERY well. Not usually a person who leaves a review but I had too because of our brilliant experience. Will definitely be back and recommending to many people.

We normally enjoy our food here on our visits when over from Scotland but today the cod had numerous bones which was disappointing but still recommend it for food and drinks in a nice setting.

We passed this hotel for many years when traveling to dublin. We took the plunge and went in to check out the place. I have to say it is a wonderful hotel with good food, pleasent staff and a wonderful ambience in the place.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch here today! Staff was friendly and attentive.

This is a very well appointed small hotel situated at the northern end of Carrickmacross main street — remodelled to a very high standard in last numbers of years, it is the prefect place for a meal, a drink and is excellent as a wedding venue — the staff are extremely pleasant — I would strongly recommend.

Very clean reasonably sized business suite. Staff mostly attentive, hence 4 not 5 stars. Great food selection especially for allergy sufferers. I would stay at The Shirley Arms Hotel again and recommend it for others.

We had our wedding here in the Shirley arms last weekend. To all the staff who done an amazing job from start to finish everthing was top class. Very good hotel. Nice food and good beer. Only problem is when it's hot there is no air con in the rooms.

We had our family reunion here last month, there were about 80 people. The service was outstanding and the food absolutely delicious. It is a beautiful building and inside is also very attractive. We had some family members who stayed in the hotel and they commented on how good their stay was too. We would highly recommend The Shirley Arms for special occasions and for casual dinner/drinks.

I ate lunch here with my wife and two children and we were met by very friendly and efficient staff who were helpful to our needs. The lunch menu was excellent and the food served was of a very high standard. The hotel and restaurant are beautifully decorated and well maintained; so my experience was positive. I would most definitely return here for sure and highly recommend this to friends and family.

We had our christening here in February and between the top class staff and beautiful food we where beyond pleased! A special mention to Claire who was just amazing! She really goes above & beyond with her role and how warm & welcoming she is!

I eat in the restaurant with my husband and our little one year old. The service was quick, the food was lovely (could have been a little hotter) and the staff were great. We were served by two different members of staff, unfortunatly we didn't get the name of the first girl, she was very friendly and answered all our questions on the menu. We were also served by Michael, knew all about the menu and was generally just a happy guy. Lovely experience will def be back.

The Shirley arms is just so amazing we had our wedding there yesterday and all we can say is thank you so much Michael and staff folks in Ireland you will not find a nicer place to hold your wedding for the minute we walked in you were meet with smiles and a warm warm welcome their was nothing they couldn't do for us the room for our ceremony and the bedrooms whoew not five star treatment but ten and beyond. Then you have ciera whom looks after you at your meal and speechs just top class. Micheal ciera and all staff from the bottom of our hearts thanks so much jimmy and Anna Zoey and sinead x folks give them a call for your big day you will not regret it. Xxxxx.

Great experience. Used 2 work locally here. Over 20 years ago. Last minute pit stop from inistioge co Kilkenny on way to giants causeway. Rooms v soundproof. Such a good sleep. I normally would hear a pin drop. Thank you … will recommend…

A little bit of an industrial feel. Poor decor in rooms.

Popped in for a quick bite on a long journey. We got soup in here, but didn't fancy anything else.

Pub and hotel. Various options available in dining/beverage service. All seemed excellent. Good value. Right in the middle of town, adjacent to all manner of amenities, shops and bars/nightclubs.

Welcoming busy hotel/bar/cafe/restaurant. Good selection on the menu, quality food well prepared. Rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. Nice clean bathroom. Tea & Coffee making facilities in room. Staff are friendly and helpful and location ideal at the end of the main street. Stayed many times and will again. Highly recommended.

Lovely accommodation with delicious breakfast, centrally located for travelers with cars or taking transit.

Really bad quality hotel, dirty pool in the leisure centre, definitely not a 4 star hotel. Don't stay there if you don't have to. And stay away from the pool, I've got infection in both eyes (still do, after 4 weeks of treatment) after swimming there. Water in the jacuzzi was YELLOW.

Had food here only… Place was very busy so took a while to olace the order and a little while longer to get food. However the food was amazing. Highly recommend…

Food and staff are first class but the behind the scenes are a big let down toilets fealty When you have to go to your room to go toilet says it all.

WHEELCHAIR USERS BEWARE Today I took my brother, a wheelchair user, to lunch at the Shirley arms hotel Carrickmacross. To unload the wheel chair I had to drop him in the middle of the car park at the front of the hotel as the only other disabled person in the whole of Monaghan was parked in the only disabled parking space in front of the hotel! Once this was done and my sister took charge of him (thankfully she was there as otherwise I would have had to leave him on his own) I proceeded to drive around the back of the hotel to their ample car park to find NO I MEAN NO disabled parking available at all. After lunch I had a chat with their manager Michael a very friendly gentleman who informed me that the parking provided at the front of the hotel was NOT PROVIDED BY THE HOTEL but the council and should I have any queries about extra parking then they (the local council) were the people to lobby! When I asked where I might park my car for easy access to the hotel I was shown a double yellow line and told that I could park there which would give me access through a fire exit door (locked from the outside) and that all I would have to do was leave my car (with my brother inside) go around and into the hotel and get a member of staff to open it. This type of treatment of the disabled is unacceptable. As a modern hotel (recently refurbished) it provides no disabled parking. Shame on you sherley arms. Oh if you want a complaints form don’t bother they don’t have one PS.
