Villa Monyet Java

We stayed for two nights in three rooms at Villa Monyet. We booked the Ocean View rooms, while our mom stayed in the Green Room and my sister in the Garden Room.
Overall, I love how cosy, homey, and lush the villa area is. The site isn’t big, but it’s convenient and just across the road from the sea—you can even hear the waves from your room. The Indonesian food was just okay, but the Nasi Goreng Sunda was tasty and unique. I think they’re better at Western food. Try the banana muffin and the burger 🙌
Oh, they are also right next door to the Pizza Kebun guy. Must try their sourdough pizza! Be there before 6 PM to avoid the queue. Only open on Friday, Sat, and Sunday.
Since the villa is surrounded by plants, expect to see some insects. Our mom even had a bat fly into her room through the bathroom 🤣
But the villa team responded quickly and helped handle it.
Some parts of the bathroom could be better designed—for example, the shower area has no partition from the toilet, so the floor gets wet when you take a shower.
The staff are super friendly! You can even drop off your laundry the night before and get it back by the afternoon.
Would love to come back and soak in the good vibes ☀️

We loved it here! We extended our booking. The location is amazing and the people are very nice and very friendly :) they helped us out with everything and gave great info about culture and things to do besides surfing. Def recommend!

A small cabin style hotel close to a beach popular with surfers. The bathrooms are partially outdoors but felt relatively clean. A mosquito net was provided in the room for which we were very grateful. Breakfast was very basic. There is a road between the resort and the beach which did cause for noise from passing motorcycles.

Villa monyet team and place are amazing, they have a positive and humble personality. They also held BBQ night every saturday night. I was staying there with my family, the breakfast are really good, almost all homemade, comfortable place to stay, really affordable and I love how they designed that place. Bravo.

Villa Monyet has been my home whenever I visit Batukaras. The place locates very close to the reef point (about 5 mins walk) where I love to surf. The main point is further away but not more than 5 mins motorbike ride.
I used to stay in the Bungalow and the family room and found both very comfortable and clean. The room comes with yummy breakfast. In some weekend they have BBQ party. On my lazy days, I always order from their kitchen and I’d to recommend the chicken lemongrass. Fried banana is also good.
The staffs are very nice, friendly, and helpful. One time I stepped on sea urchins while surfing and they helped taking me to the hospital.

The best address to go to in Batukaras! Surf pro spot is exactly at front, beginner surf spot is 1 km south. Breakfast is top, villas are clean and no issue at all. They can also help arrange your trip here and there. Shout out to the best team at Villa Monyet!

We really recommend staying here when in Batu Karas! The staff is super nice and helpful and helped us plan the continuation of our trip when we said we wanted to go to Karimunjawa. The rooms were nice and clean and the location is perfect. We rented a scooter, took of for the beach and surfed all day. When we got back we could enjoy a nice shower and have good food in the restaurant. We pushed our budget a little to stay here (backpackers), but it was really worth it. Thank you!

We stayed in the Family Surf Room with three queen beds, perfect for a larger family group. Property is right across the beach, which was perfect for swimming and playing with children, the beach for surfing is a bit further out. Staff are friendly and helpful, food selection at the restaurant is not that many but enough and delicious. We recommend ordering Crispy Tempe and Chicken Satay! BBQ night with a traditional Sundanese banana leaf dinner was also incredible.
Downside: Beds are a bit hard.

Great stay!
The location is good, although there aren't many people around, so it kind of feels like a ghost town (except for the inhabitants).
There's a good surf spot down the road, don't try it in front of Monyet, there's a lot of dead reefs.
The food is great, although it does seem like they aren't always "willing" to prepare meals. Breakfast is good, lunch is non-existent and during supper there doesn't seem to be anyone around to make you something.

Spent 2 nights here and it was great! Expected to cruise around the beach with their free rental bikes but, unfortunately, they were all broken. But their food and service were beyond our expectation!
Would love to stay here again the next time I visit Batu Karas!
