I checked in on November 11th in deluxe king bed room for 2 nights and extended my stay until the 15th.
I had no issue about the hotel EXCEPT for parking… it's VERY limited. Most of the time we had to park on the side of the hotel in front of KFC (imagine Surabaya during rainy days, really annoying when we had to use umbrella from the car to the hotel lobby).
On November 14th, the night before we checked out, the parking area was full, even on the side of the hotel where we used to park. At the hotel entrance we met 1 security staff who lost his voice and he mentioned we had to park on the side of the hotel as usual. When we went there, there's no space at all and we returned back to hotel entrance and we saw him again with another security staff and to the 2nd security we told him it was not possible to park on the side of hotel. He was upset when we said so. He raised his voice and acted like we were stupid and stubborn as we didn't follow the instructions of his colleague to park on the side of the hotel. He mentioned there would be someone assisted us to park near KFC while his colleague didn't mention it the first time we came to see him earlier at the hotel entrance. When we were talking to the 2nd security, the one who lost his voice shook his head, thought we disobeyed his instructions. When we came out from hotel area to look for a place to park, suddenly 1 guy (not hotel staff) showed up and told us to park on the parking spot near KFC but it's not the hotel area. How on earth we would know we were able to park there if no-one from hotel staff informed us? How the hotel will be able to guarantee the safety of guest vehicle when we have to park on other premises not covered by hotel CCTV?
The security supervisor need to give more training to these 2 security staffs how to behave and respond appropriately when there's an issue around their working area.
It's a pity really. The hotel has so many positive points. It's located in a strategic area, near some restaurants, near some convenience stores. On level 8 where we stayed we can refill drinking water in front of elevator. In the room a bolster is provided (I have stayed in many hotels but Great Diponegoro is the only hotel which provide a bolster in the room) The bedroom and bathroom are quite spacious. Front Office and Housekeeping gave their good service during my stay but the issue about the parking will make me think twice before coming back in the future unfortunately.
