Review of Wyndham Surabaya City Centre 4*

6/10
If there are 2.5 stars, it would fit this review better.
We booked two rooms for 2 and 3 nights.
ROOM A & C:
The first room (room A), despite us asking for a non-smoking one, had a smoky scent — the kind that was left over by cigarette. This was not a pleasant experience, especially when we were asked to sign a statement that if we ended up smoking in a non-smoking room, we would be fined.
Fortunately when we reported this matter, they came ready to resolve the issue and moved us to another room (room B).
However, other issues were present in this room, with the most annoying one being a leftover stain of the previous guest (s) ' poop on the toilet seat.
And this was where it was disappointing: Upon reporting, a housekeeping staff came and inspected the toilet seat. However, he touched it bare handedly, and then he used the same hand to touch and open our bedroom door. This was disgusting and I had to clean my bedroom door's handle with alcohol tissue as a result.
The same staff did clean the whole toilet enthusiastically, which was worthy of a praise.
Then again, after inspecting the stained spot and touching it, and after a whole round of full-toilet cleaning, he asked me, "What do you think — is it done? "
This was another "OMG" moment for me, for AT THE VERY SAME SPOT where the poop stain was first found out, there existed still the very same poop stain — which means it wasn't cleaned properly, which made me wonder of the guy's seriousness and understanding of the issue despite being energetic when he cleaned the toilet.
ROOM B.
We booked room B for our parents. Generally this was ok (despite some stains here and there), however, the toilet bidet wass faulty. At one point it couldn't be turned off.
When they called the hotel staff, he suggested that we should use the bidet carefully and not to turn it on (open its water flow) "too much".
While this was something that we can compromise with, it was of course a bit hard to grasp: a healthy, non-faulty bidet would be able to be turned on to the max without any issue — moreover, it was hard to estimate where is the "open limit" was for our aging parents who were both 70+ years old. This showed that better maintenance would be required.
