Happy House Bromo backpacker

The room was really nice and the hostel itself had a very cozy kitchen – after a long time traveling we finally cooked again and felt very comfortable. We also booked the Bromo tour with them since they accept card payments. Some guides offered the same tour for a cheaper price in cash, but we preferred the convenience of paying by card even if it was a bit more expensive.
The only downside of the tour was the “breakfast. ” After the excursion they take you to a warung where they only serve 5–6 typical Indonesian lunch dishes, so it didn’t really feel like breakfast. It would have been great to have a proper breakfast option, especially since it was still before noon.
As for the hostel itself, everything was good except for the Wi-Fi, which was unstable and often didn’t work at all. On one rainy day the power was also out for several hours.
That said, I’d still come back because of the affordable price and the beauty of the place.

I dont recommend this hostel. The room is not like show in some pictures, looks like they did not take off the old pictures. My friend also requested transportation to the train station for the next day because she had been told in a text message that transportation was available and they told her to order a taxi herlself. There is a lack of communication between employees and a lack of organization and proper work at the reception desk. Very little attention and concern for the customer. Disastrous service. The hotel owner is arrogant and doesn't care about customer service. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we told the receptionist that we would rent two motorcycles for 24 hours, but if we didn't rent them that night, we would want them the next morning. The next morning, we ordered the two motorcycles, and the receptionist told us we would have to wait an hour for the motorcycle to be brought to us because the receptionist from the day before hadn't informed him of our request. So we looked for another place until we resolved everything. It took about an hour and a half to leave, so we arrived late to Bromo and couldn't do everything we had planned for the day, apart from the fact that I only had that day to visit. I asked to speak to the boss when we returned and I spoke to the hotel owner, who arrived with a bad face, as if he were angry, as if we had done something wrong.

Very loud prayers from the mosque next door. It woke us up st 4am! The rooms are ok, but toilet flushing was not working. The staff wasn’t so friendly. Location is all right if you have a vehicle.

Good location — not far from train station or Bromo. Friendly staff.
Unfortunately it is a noisy place, with the mosques going for most of the day/ night and people coming and going all the time. Rooms definitely have no soundproofing.
Great amenities but no hot water in our shower (not too much of an issue for us).
Pick-up from train station was good. Local warungs in the area sell cheap and delicious Indonesian food.

I only stayed in the dorm room here, and honestly, it wasn’t a comfortable experience.
The bed was quite shaky and not very sturdy, and the bathroom was really dirty — it felt like the stains had been there forever without proper cleaning.
Also, the place is very close to a mosque, so you’ll definitely be woken up around 4AM by the prayer call — it’s something to be aware of if you’re a light sleeper.
That said, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and I really appreciated their warm attitude.

Amenities are clean and the design is pretty good!
We booked the tour to Bromo/ Transfer to airport and everything was great.
About the mosque… even with earplugs was impossible not to wake up at 4 am.
And yes the water is not very hot but that wasn’t a problem (for us)

It’s a cozy place with rather small rooms. ⚠️⚠️However, please note that it’s surrounded by several mosques, so the calls to prayer can be extra loud compering to other hostel/hotels! It’s like the speaker are in your room! 🔈🔈🔈

The host was quite sarcastic. To put it in a good way, it means being free, and in a bad way, it means letting go.
There is no guidance on accommodation, so you have to do it yourself. But kind.

Amazing place! Very cheap, and the hostel has a lot of detail in it. Quite modern, the owners really put a lot of effort in this! Though the place itself is outside the city center, they rent scooters to get around with.

Place is amazing, location also good.
Now the mosques sound like their soundsystems are in your room, very annoying. Apart from that amazing spot with some awesome shared areas.

Clean rooms. Not a bad location. Very kind service. The mosques are so close that you think they are praying in your toilet. Very annoying especially at 4am in the morning.

I stayed here for 2 nights; first night at the hostel then upgraded to private room with my own bathroom & a balcony. I have to stay I like both rooms; they are nicely designed, quite equipped, and quite clean. The location is great as it is very near to bus station, the service was okay depending on who is on shift, they mind their business unless you ask them questions. The minus point; which is not the hotel’s fault; is the nonstop loud noise from mosques nearby. If I may; It would be great if they are more friendly & potentially provide the guests with earplugs to improve the quality. Also expect to bring your own soap/shampoo as I didn’t get any in the private room.

This is hands down the worst hostels i’ve ever stayed at (coming from someone who’s travelled to 50 different countries).
The bed sheets weren’t cleaned and were full of hair from previous guests.
The bathrooms are disgustingly dirty. The water from the toilet leaks into the floor. The water pressure of the shower is so poor and the shower head is full of mold. Needless to say the whole bathroom smells like pee and there was never toilet paper.
When we arrived our private room with a bathroom had a dirt problem they didn’t let us know about it until we arrived in the hostel late at night. They had the whole day to get ahold of us and let us know but they didn’t. Instead, they moved us into another private room without a bathroom and refused to give us a refund for it.
The street leading up to the hostel is also gross and full of dead rats. I'm very disappointed.

One of the best Hostel I ever been. The staff is friendly and the Dormitory Room was clean. The Shower was hot!
The Laundery Service is also top!
It felt like Home!
