Shelter Hostel Malang

I didn’t get enough sleep here because it was too humid for me, and there was no air conditioning as mentioned on the website.
I arrived early in the morning and the staff kindly allowed me to store my luggage, which I really appreciated.
The location is great, very close to a viral spot and easily reachable by walking.

Cute little hostel walking distance to the train station and not too far from the central square. Friendly service and clean amenities.

The Shelter Hostel in Malang is a very cozy hostel with super sweet stuff (they even cooked our noodles, when we wanted to eat our own noodles & pesto) and great + cheap food. The showers are very clean and the waterpressure is just amazingly comfortable.
We loved our 2 nights stay here and definitely recommend this place to others.

My partner and I spent a wonderful four nights here recently. The private loft rooms, with both fan and air-con, are spacious and comfortable. The shared bathrooms are close to the room and super clean. The location is central, the shared space is open and fun and the staff are amazing. We would definitely stay there again. In general, the place was super clean. Thanks to you all at Shelter Hostel. :)

Didn’t stay at this hostel but I did their 2 day/1 night Mount Bromo/Ijen and it was amazing. So well organised, with a fun and interesting guide who was very respectful. We got to go to a locals’ hot spring as well. Great group of people on the tour. Was only £70 for the tour including overnight accommodation, which was a lot cheaper than others online.

I am a fan! The whole hostel interior is so pretty, the dorm rooms are amazing and everything is clean! The staff is very lovely and helpful, location is central and the price is very affordable. Not a single bad thing to say about this place at all! I would come back any time!

I 100% recommend this hostel. The beds are comfy, hot water in the showers and all of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is also very good and very reasonably priced. They helped me book my Mount Bromo tour which was incredible and I was also able to book my train ticket through the hostel which was very helpful. If I ever find myself back in Malang, I would definitely stay here again.

Interesting and comfortable double rooms with a loft. Quite spacious area underneath the loft for f. I. Backpacks. Rooms are on 2rd and 3rd floors (no elevator), so hoisting large suitcases up may be a problem, but we managed just fine with our backpacks.
Breakfast and food options in their restaurant are great. They were easily able to cater to some food insensitivities. Unfortunately, no options to make your own food / boil water. But, one coffee free of charge per person per day.
Friendly staff, including night guard. Hostel offers a free Kampung tour done by a local intern/student.

Our favourite accomodation that we have stayed in Indonesia. Stayed in a private room with a double bed in a loft design. This was really fun and had a view from the loft over the city. Very convenient location for the train and local restaurants.

The hostel is clean and all the staff are really welcoming and friendly. The showers are clean and hot, beds are also really comfy, definitely one of the best hostel we stayed at while travelling Asia. Would definitely recommend!

We organised a becak tour of Malang through the hostel though we weren't staying there. What a great way of seeing the city. Our guide Pian took us to a local market, the rainbow village, alun-alun, and Ijen Boulevard. He tailored the tour to suit our 6 year old and 9 year old. The whole family had an excellent time! After the tour finished Pian recommended a local restaurant for soto ayam. I highly recommend the tour and Pian.

Good hostel. 500k for the sunrise bromo tour, and they had discount bundles if you also did tempak sewu or ijen. Comfy beds. There’s was a cafe attached to the hostel with a good range of dishes and drinks. The aircon in the rooms wasn’t the best, but ok if you slept with the curtains round your bed open. Also be warned that almost every night someone is waking up at midnight for bromo — bring ear plugs.

Amazing hostel! It’s near the train station and lots of restaurants. The staff were so kind — Fyan helped me change my bus ticket and even dropped me at the bus terminal. I booked the bromo tour with them and it was great. They also do a running club which was so fun to see new places! Thank you so much :)

Amazing value for money. Clean, hot water, Wi-Fi, really good food. We ate here a few times and I regret that I don't have many photos. Perfect location, walking distance to the train.

We arrived very late but they were still waiting for us for the check-in. So the staff was very friendly and the hostel facilities were also very nice! The bathroom and the beds were clean as well. We only stayed there for one night so I don’t really know how social it is. Thank you!
