Semeru Hostel Malang - Adults Only SEMERU HOSTEL MALANG

The hostel is in a great, strategic location — just a 5–10 minute drive to the train station. A huge thank you to Eko for his kindness and helpfulness; thanks to him, we discovered the restaurant right next door, which serves delicious local food — definitely worth trying!
We also booked the Bromo tour through the hostel and couldn’t be happier. Our driver, Djoni, was absolutely amazing — such a friendly, social guy who made the whole trip even more enjoyable with his great conversation and positive energy.
The rooms are very clean, and there’s a spacious common area plus a kitchen. There isn’t a large locker for big bags, but there’s a small one perfect for passports, money, and other valuables.

Staying here was such a wonderful experience. It honestly felt like stepping into a cozy Ghibli movie set. The place is warm, pretty, and comfortable, with all the essentials for a good night’s rest.
But what really made my trip unforgettable was the East Java waterfalls and volcanoes tour that I booked through the hostel. The entire 3D2N package was beyond amazing, super well-organized, very reasonable in price, and the stays arranged along the way were much better than expected.
The tour guides at each stop were incredible, respectful, kind, and full of good energy, making every moment memorable.
A special shoutout to our driver, Benny, truly the heart of our trip. He wasn’t just a driver, but a guide, friend, and all-around amazing person. Always patient, helpful, and looking out for us. He shared stories, cracked jokes, and made the long drives so much fun. His genuine kindness and upbeat personality added so much warmth to the whole experience. Honestly, the trip wouldn’t have been the same without him.
If you’re heading to East Java, I can’t recommend Semeru Hostel and their tours enough. It’s an experience you’ll never forget. 🌋✨

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at! Everything was super clean and the chilling area was nice and open, surrounded by plants so very relaxing. Eko was great, so funny and friendly, he made our stay!

The hostel was lovely! Echo was so helpful with any questions we asked. We did Mount Bromo tour through the hostel and we got a lovely guide — Patrick. He was amazing so friendly and helpful, he was also very good at taking photos! Really good tour!

The place is really comfy ‘cause its clean & classic.
Although many windows & outdoor but the weather isn’t hot ‘cause there are many trees.
Complete facilities ranging from beds,
Separate toilets & bathrooms (toilet near communal space, bathroom near the living room),
Lockers to store personal items (expensive things should be brought to the bed ‘cause the lockers are keyless),
Also kitchen that provides free tea & coffee, brew it yourself, wash it yourself (self service).
Aaand last but not least, the location is very strategic, but not noisy from the hustle and bustle of Malang city center.
My 1st solo trip to Malang was only one day, if I go to Malang again, I’ll definitely stay here again!

So I did the jeep tour up Mount Bromo through these and it was incredible. Unfortunately we had a wet and foggy morning however it was still a proper adventure and well worth doing. Great communication from booking to pickup location and times. Breakfast was a great addition and the driver and guide were exceptional. Lots of information great driving and some great pictures taken. All round great experience and would highly recommend anyone thinking about this to book it!

If I could give them 10 stars, I would give them 11. I stayed here for 2 nights and ended up having one of the most memorable moments of my life. The staff were truly amazing and hospitable, making me feel like home right in the beginning. On top of that, their tour organization is top-notch with dedicated drivers and guides with reasonable prices.

I can’t say anything about the hostel itself as we didn’t stay there but we decided to go for a 3 days trip organised by semeru hostel which was best decision ever! Friendly and helpful staff, fantastic places to rest and good food. And the views — everything was perfect!

Amazing homestay, I had a great time here and can absolutely reccommend it. The family are so kind and helpful, which really went a long way helping me plan my trip to make the most of my time. The decor is very warm, cozy and homely — very comfortable and aesthetic. The rooms are very comfortable, good curtains and beds, and the bathrooms were nice and clean. Location is perfect; not far from the train station and many great food spots. I didn't take their Bromo tour (instead drove myself up, can reccommend too! ) but I heard great things and they let me store my bag here overnight which was really kind. Thanks for making my time in Malang amazing!

A lovely hostel and very friendly staff. We were able to relax at the hostel and watch a movie, water refill was available and great facilities. We also booked a 3 day 2 night tour through the hostel which was well organised.

Thank you Semeru Hostel Malang for the best 3 days and 2 nights experience exploring East Java. Very much recommended for people who are lazy to plan like me because they have everything planned for you already. All you need to do is just pack your bag and move haha. So glad that all the hostels provided throughout the trip were very comfortable too, car was comfortable enough for all of us, food were also good and all the tour guides provided were so helpful and kind. Thank you so much Semeru Hostel Malang! Will definitely miss everyone who has been involved ♥️

Very friendly staff but we are a little bit disappointed.
We booked the room for 2 people, no lock on the door, no AC (was mentioned) but the fan was doing nothing, the room was so hot.
Had to rent the towel and paid to leave our bags a night before to go to Bromo, in a secure room. But when we came back they where is the lobby.
Good point: the place is really clean, well decorated and the kitchen is a good plus!
And again, really friendly staff.

Lovely staff that help you with your questions. They give you contact for the tours.
It was very clean and you can see that the property went through maintenance. Free drinking water, soap and use of kitchen is possible. Lovely garden hang out area to socialise.

This hostel is very cute and the staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. You instantly feel at home here! The location is also great, with Jodipan rainbow village a 40 minute walk or a short car/scooter ride away and lots of places to buy snacks or eat out.
Most travelers go out hiking during the day but different tour groups take people out at different times so we had the 8 bed dorm to ourselves most of the time.
They offer a variety of tours to see Mount Ijen, Mount Bromo, Tempak Sewu and a few other nearby waterfalls at a great price! I recommend using their tours even if you don’t end up staying there.

Stayed here for 2 nights before doing the 3 day 2 nights tour.
The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and will go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay/experience.
The hostel is located in a good location, next to some grocery and stores and plenty of food + coffee shops.
The hostel is nice and clean with cooking facilities available for those whom wish to make own food.

The hostel was a super sweet place and the staff is so friendly. The rooms and beds are clean, and you also have a locker for your valuables. There is free teh and coffee and the showers are very clean too. I booked a 3 day tour with them and I had the best time. I will always go back to this hostel, when I go back to Malang. The price is also very good and I already miss the staff. :) Nadya is such a friendly hostel owner! Thank you so much for everything.
