Hostel Wees een Kind

We spend two wonderful nights in Hostel Wees een Kind. The place is something very special. It is directly connected to the orphanage, and you can opt to have dinner with the whole family and all children. They all have a special talent and are supported in exploring it further. We talked about martial arts, and dance and they were thrilled to show us two traditional dances, and about us dancing some partner dance for them. The facilities are clean and you'll soon feel like home.

I stayed at Wees a Kind for a whopping 18 days while recovering from a broken toe, and I couldn't have chosen a better place. I love how the organisation uses the hostel to fund its non-profit project for local kids. I even had the chance to chat with the kids and meet the founder during their visit to the hostel while I was there.
The entire stay was awesome. The beds were comfortable, and the hosts (the family who look after the kids) were incredibly kind and helpful. Breakfast is included (the banana pancake rules them all! ), and the vibe is super chill and quiet. The hostel is tucked away in a gated residential area, yet still really close to the buzz of Malang—Kotask and Warung Subuh are within walking distance.

We spent two amazing nights at this hostel and it truly left a lasting impression 🧡
We booked the double bed in the dorm (which also has 4 single beds), and the mattress was absolutely huge and incredibly comfortable — honestly the best we’ve had in 3 months of travel. The beds are also very well designed: thick walls and proper curtains make it feel really private.
The bathroom was in excellent condition, with two showers and two toilets, always clean.
And the breakfast is just fantastic — we had the best banana pancakes of our entire trip 😍
But what really makes this place special is the people behind it. The hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming, and you instantly feel at home. They even invited us to share the Eid al-Adha meal with them and the children — such a beautiful and heartwarming experience ❤️
In fact, the second part of the building is an orphanage, home to about 15/20 children.
Their are lovely and will be happy to practice their English with you! ☺️
All the money from the hostel goes directly to support them and their daily life. It’s a beautiful, meaningful project, and being part of it, even briefly, was truly touching 🥰
To top it all off, the hostel is located in a quiet and charming neighborhood, with security guards at the entrance of the street, which adds an extra layer of peace of mind.
In short, it’s a place that’s authentic, full of heart, and absolutely unforgettable. We’d recommend it 200%!
