Jiwa Jawa Resort Bromo

We arrived in the afternoon after a very long driving from Bali and we were said that due the low season there were only a few customers. The room was very large and clean. We had an excellent dinner at the hotel at a very reasonable price. We left the room at 0230 in the night for the tour to the volcano and we returned to the room around 0900 am for a shower before to had an excellent breakfast included in the room price. We really appreciate to stay here even if we could not sleep other then a few hours due to the time of the volcano tour. An excellent accommodation if you go to Bromo. Recommended.

Unfortunately, my stay at this Bromo hotel was affected by serious housekeeping and maintenance issues.
It appears that rooms are not properly inspected after housekeeping. When I arrived, the drain was clogged with hair and debris, and when I turned on the faucet, the bathroom partially flooded. I tried calling the reception several times but no one answered, so I had to walk to the reception building myself to report the issue. Eventually, the engineering team came to fix the drain.
There was also persistent knocking noise starting around 7:30 PM until midnight, which made it very difficult to sleep.
Housekeeping consistency was another major problem:
Toilet paper was not replenished, and I completely ran out for about six hours.
I called reception but no one picked up, so I had to walk there again around 5:30–6:00 AM just to request toilet paper.
Housekeeping removed towels and bath mats without replacing them, requiring additional requests.
The replacement bath mat provided was ripped along the edges and clearly worn out. Not something I expect from an expensive four star hotel.
These issues suggest a lack of basic housekeeping checks, supply control, and responsiveness, which significantly impacted comfort and rest.
This hotel could improve greatly with:
Proper room inspection after cleaning,
Reliable front desk response, and.
Consistent replenishment of bathroom essentials.
I do have to add that the restaurant serves great foods.

For its room rate, I think, everything is pretty standard. If I were to give some inputs, I would say, the breakfast need some major improvements. They are doing great in terms of keeping the ambience of the hotel very lush green and somewhat "woody", it is quite " luxurious " in a natural way, but the breakfast is rather horrible in my opinion. The only good points from the breakfast are the drinks, they give wedang jahe (hot ginger), some wedang2an, fairly fresh and sweet fruits, some jamu2an (herbal drinks), but other food choices are " meh "
With 2mill idr ++ per night (I paid 3 mill idr for family suite), you could get a far better breakfast options in another hotel.
Service wise is good, standard (again, for its rate)

It doesn’t live up to its four star claims. The room isn’t bad but not luxury either, definitely not worth the rate charged. Only two plug points provided, and even then those are not easily accessible. Some areas of the hotel even looked abandoned. The only plus point is the location it is close to mount bromo so the drive up in the morning would only take half hour.
Despite the location I would not recommend the resort at all.

Gorgeous plants and estate perfect for soothing stay and near Bromo. Unfortunately for wedding function hall across the road.

Good hotel. Well laid out and well manicured gardens. Nice check in area, decent library of books (lots of ones on photography). And an impressive display of photographs in the lobby.
The room we had was ok sized, at a lower level, needing stairs to navigate.
To our surprise, we also got afternoon tea coupons. There are at least three food outlets (restaurant, cafe, something else), and they didn’t quite tell us where the tea nor breakfast was, resulting in a bit of wandering around.
We had both lunch and dinner at the hotel (lunch at the restaurant, dinner at the cafe) ; rather basic, but sufficient choices for a nights stay. Breakfast was basic too, no egg station that we could see, cereal but no cornflakes; but lots of juices, and local food.
Great place for the early morning visit to Mt Bromo.
This would be a lot better if they provided more info on hotel facilities, food outlets, timings, etc upon check-in.

We were able to get two rooms at short notice and were very grateful for that.
This is a beautiful peace of property. Peaceful and the restaurant is convenient. Members of staff are quite conversant in English and are polite, patient and professional.
Hope to stay here again some day.

Enjoyed staying here. Slept like a baby. The weather was a great relief. It’s thoughtfully done. There was some loud singing till later than I would have liked at night.

If you have any dietary restrictions or are vegetarian, please consider bringing your own food or cooking. I think traveling in Indonesia and being vegetarian is difficult at baseline, but there were NUMEROUS times the staff at the restaurant reassured us something was vegetarian but in fact there was shrimp or chicken in it often after we’ve taken a bite of it and tasted it. My friend has severe allergies to shrimp and had to spit her food out after tasting fish in her dish after they told us there was no fish. I feel like this had to have been a product of miscommunication, but for something as serious as allergies I feel the staff should be attentive. Otherwise, it was fine! I think the price is high and the tours were probably upcharged, but the resort is beautiful and the front desk staff were helpful.

For being the most expensive hotel in Bromo, I was a bit disappointed. The room was pretty dirty, and there was loud music playing until late in the night. The management needs to allocate more money to cleanliness, such as using bleach or buying new sheets when they are stained with body fluids.

This is a pricey hotel that simply did not deliver the expected value. At check in we were told that we could not eat at the hotel restaurant as it was booked out. Instead we were sent 50 m down the street to a huge empty cavern of a restaurant at which we were the only dinners. It had no atmosphere and the food was bland.
In the morning at 4 when we needed to go up to Bromo the main gate was locked! We had to search for an exit.
No patio chairs on balcony. I could go on.
The breakfast in the hotel's actual restaurant was sublime. Great atmosphere with excellent staff especially Tomy who was superb.

A lovely hotel in a great location and within easy reach of Mount Bromo, nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast after our trip to watch sunrise. We enjoyed the evening meal. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Only there for one night, but two would have been better, so we could chill out after the early morning trip.

Jiwa Jawa bromo is the perfect place to stay for a sunrise tour to mount Bromo. The hotel itself and the service is outstanding. The hotel organised our pick up from Surabaya airport and our transport for the early morning sunrise tour.

Our guide was great! From picking us up from the airport to dropping us off to the hotel. It was a fun journey and He was well organized and friendly the entire way. His English was easy to understand. He took care of everything. If we needed to make a stop to eat (we are vegetarians), he knew the best places to go to. He took care of our luggage and had everything ready to go when we were arriving and leaving the hotel, it was five star treatment all the way.

I was given a very old room with a bathroom that was in terrible condition. The entire resort was very nice looking, but everything changed upon going into the room. Called the staff to request for a change of room but were turned down as they said that all rooms were booked. The resort high rating probably came from guests that stayed in the newer rooms. I highly suggest to the resort to renovate their rooms that have been around for many years. We did not enjoy the 2 night stay in the resort because of the toilet that was in bad shape, dirty and water pressure lacking.
The resort staff were very good, the restaurant served good breakfast and we enjoyed our breakfast very much.

We are all still trying to figure out why this hotel has such great reviews?
What struck us was how minuscule the rooms were. Not a single cupboard, drawers or place to place your luggage. Only a bed with barely enough place to walk around it. The bathroom is clean but very basic,
The hotel has a lovely lobby, lovely dining room and other areas but the rooms are more than basic and bare. The staff ae a bit arrogant and seem like they are too busy to help.
We were very disappointed.

Highly recommend. The exterior architecture is beautiful.
Service is very good, staff is trained well and are very genuinely friendly. Shout out to the cafe team!
Only gripe is that breakfast food is so-so, pillows not the best and toilets smell like the pipes a bit! But well worth being outdoors in nature at the hotel.

Enjoyable stay but we needed to request a heater as cold in the room. Service was good, food was fine (but no breakfast tea at breakfast only mint tea, although there was some in the rooms?! ) some stunning pictures and batiks on display and very helpful staff, but it is all about the volcano here, with little else around, so one night is enough.
