The hotel is beautiful. However, because we are on top of a mountain there is no heating or A/C. TV all Indonesian. No Wi-Fi in rooms.

Over all Jiwa Jawa tries to be a world class hotel, but ends up being pretentious and poor value.
The hotel and surroundings look magnificent, but the effect wears off rather quickly. Long hot showers and comfortable mattresses are let down by a curtain that only covered half the window and a thin blanket that didn't keep us warm.
The restaurant claims a varied menu, but half the dishes are steaks or meat on skewers and there was only one vegetarian option which was quite bland. On request they cooked other dishes for us without the meat, nasi goreng or vegetables in oyster sauce, which where both very nice. All three desert options are various ways to cook a banana. Mie goreng wasn't as good as the nasi.
The Wi-Fi passwords are different for each section of the hotel (why? ), no Wi-Fi in rooms. No room safe and no bar fridge left me questioning the number of stars.
The staff are very polite and mostly try to be helpful, but we're forced to explain bizarre hotel policies to us.
Various people recommended alternative hotels, one with Mt Bromo views from the hotel might be worth a try.

I love the comfortable bed to recover my lost sleep from the adventure at Bromo. However, my room included buffet breakfast that is served only until 9:30am. Well everyone here would be away at Bromo after watching the sunrise. Although breakfast till 9:30am is a std practise at most hotel, applying this prastice here is nonsensical!

Hotelnya sangat bagus secara arsitektur, dilengkapi dengan fasilitas yang memadai. Sebelum sampai ditempat ini akan disuguhkan pemandangan yang cukup indah karena hotel ini sendiri berada di area pegunungan. Untuk akses jalannya cukup bagus meskipun ada beberapa daerah yang berlubang. Suhunya sangat sejuk sehingga tidak memerlukan air conditioner ketika berada di hotel ini. Ada juga galeri didalam hotel yang menambah kesan seni. Untuk setiap tahunnya diadakan jazz gunung yang bertempat di amfiteater terbuka dan diadakan selama 3 hari. Dimana amfiteater terbuka ini masih satu kawasan dengan jiwa jawa bromo sehingga untuk para turis dapat tinggal di jiwa jawa bromo ini.

Hotel with nice View and silent. Good place for Relaxing.

We didn't stay here. We wanted to have coffee at the rest area next door but they couldn't serve due to power failure. But we enjoyed the beautiful surrounding; and the modern and clean restroom. The amphitheatre where Mountain Jazz was held was right across the road. Beautiful setting.

It was very cold outside and the hotel doesn't have heather. Anyway, the bed was comfortable. Bathroom a bit small and there's no baht! Cause it is very cold there! And we need to relax in the hot baht. Breakfast was good and beautiful view at restaurant.

Единственный приличный отель в деревне у вулкана Бромо. Посмотрев цены на букинге и слегка офигев от них, решили приехать и поторговаться на месте в расчете на то, что отель большой, номеров свободных много, наверно к вечеру в них никто не поселится и нам отдадут семейный номер со скидкой. Цена на букинге 4200000 за номер, это примерно $340 на тот момент. Но на стойке нам предложили этот же номер еще дороже! Еле договорились на цену букинга, но это все равно было чрезвычайно дорого. В итоге нам предложили отдельный домик за $100, который не выставляют на продажу на сайтах, а держат для каких-то непонятных целей. Вроде как для таких вот случайно зашедших нищих и прочих бэкпэкеров :) Честно говоря мы так и не поняли, что с ним не так и чем он отличается от в 3 раза более дорогого семейного номера. В доме 2 спальни, гостиная, туалет, душ. Никакой живности не заметили, свет есть, горячая вода тоже. Wi-fi нет, но его и в других номерах нет, судя по отзывам. В доме довольно холодно, отопление не предусмотрено. Опять же в других номерах точно так же, судя по отзывам. Спалось нам отлично, тишина полная, вид красивый, территория ухоженная. Нам понравилось.

Great location and great restaurant. An ideal basis for climbing Bromo. The only downside is limited TV (all Indonesian channels) which is understandable given the location, but take a good book!

The only 4 star hotel at Bromo area was Jiwa Jawa Hotel. This hotel named by java banana hotel many years ago. Today it is Jiwa Jawa Hotel. Cozy and elegant. Thumb up for this hotel.

The view from this hotel is fantastic! I had a good time here, though the room rate was overpriced (in my opinion). Nevertheless, it offers short time trip to Penanjakan (around 30min). No need to wake up super early in the morning to witness the most beautiful and breathtaking sunrise of Bromo.

I always love the way they built the business on the top of mountains, and how they contribute to the environment. Consider the area, this is the best hotels around and I truly appreciate the way they deliver the business. Rooms are clean and luxurious, for Bromo area. Staffs are nice and helpful. Café with limited menu are there, and galleries for the art lovers. Great garden and park, and most rooms are facing to extraordinary greeneries. Now that they open a budget accommodation also, I wish I can visit them more frequent.

Old hotel. No Wi-Fi in the room and no TV cable. The price is way too much. I wont stay here again.

Lovable place for family and couple. Feel the warm in cold weather while you re away from home.

Great view, great place, good atmosphere, okay food, Meh service from staffs. They're all smiley, but do not respond very fast. I also got lost trying to find my way here because the hotel staffs didn't reply to any of my messages that I sent to all of the contacts number and e-mail that they posted on their official websites. Tip for future guests, come thru Surabaya then Probolinggo instead of through Malang. Better yet, just contact jeep owners or Bromo tour providers to get here and back from Malang or Surabaya.

Not very good but just enough to leave at 4 am. Breakfast ok. Wifi rather weak. The philosophy is founded on three pillars: Jiwa (soul), Kekeluargaan (family) and Lingkungan (environment). As such, Jiwa Jawa Resort Ijen aims to reflect a unique combination of East Javanese culture, extended hospitality and environmentally friendly practice. Located between Bondowoso and Banyuwangi regencies, this location is rather discreet but inviting. Explorers who travel far would be able to witness magnificent view of the blue fire caldera at dusk and of the turquoise lake surrounded with reef-like sulphur walls at noon, with a tranquil place to rest at night.

Price quite high, but the quality of service is above standard in Bromo area. It's recommended.

It has amazing views! their room is just nice, and the bathroom is tiny. Since it's located in Bromo, the temperature's freakin cold! We don't even need AC. Their backyard garden is perfect for bbq party.

Very nice location for those going to the bromo tour Clean rooms (though a little bit cold by night), very warm staff, nice breakfast on the terrace after the tour The garden is awesome.

Probably the best hotel experience I've ever had. Highly recommended! This hotel provides a peaceful sanctuary while the site offers great all-rounded adventures. You can go wild and hike the mountain track to the beautiful scenes of mount Bromo or you can just rent a jeep complete with a guide to have casual adventures with family. You can also stroll around the hotel area to engage and experience the daily life of Tengger People which by the way they have a unique culture and very friendly. Get your camera ready for there will be lots of beautiful moments to capture wherever you look. My room is situated on a 3rd floor with 1 queen size bed and 2 singles with the mountain view. It's surprisingly quite warm even without a heater, probably because they use lots of wood materials inside the room. There's also an art gallery and jazz concert area facilites where you can sip a cup of hot chocolate while enjoying the arts and performances. The price is a bit higher than other hotels nearby, but considering the luxury quality of the facilities plus the unique experience, it's totally worth every penny.

Overpriced and no privacy. I just checked in to my room this afternoon. They host a private party which use loudspeaker to disturb other guests. I am the unlucky guests put in the room just opposite of that party. I called the customer service to be moved to another room and was denied and was told they are fully booked. Paying more than $200 per night I expect to have a quiet room so I can rest before getting up at 2 am to up to mount Bromo. Second problem, the bed and the pillow has definitely dust mites since my nose is stuffy right now and I have allergy to dustmite. Third, there is no heater in the room. Fourth, the bed is almost as hard as a hardwood floor. Fifth, the hot water can suddenly change to very hot almost burning my skin to ice cold water. Horrible. I wouldn't recommend this hotel and would never stay in this hotel ever again.

Great Hotel. Great Food… Great View.

No safes in the room and no AC or heating. It is quite cold up the mountain and dinner in the restaurant is not good. Bathroom is tiny and smelled very bad since the time we entered the room. The virgin mojito was delicious and the breakfast was great. Staff were friendly too.

The location is pretty nice, the personal is sympathetic, the hotel look really good but the price is a bit expensive. The room are quite small and the bed are two small mattress on the floor so it wasn't the best night ever. The bathroom was share for our room and there weren't very clean. The restaurant is good but a bit expensive too.

The most lovely place to meditate as well as listen to jazz at Bromo. Adorable "jazz gunung" that features famous jazz musician (such as Djaduk Ferianto, Glenn, dll). The price comes worth at its excellent services. Beautiful view from resto balcony. Old camera galery. Just experience it!

Jiwa Jawa successfully combines the grace and soul of Javanese hospitality with modern hotel service. The room is cosy, the landscape is exotic and the top class Java Banana Gallery featuring Sigit Pramono's photography left a memorable impression. Highly recommendable place to stay when you visit Mount Bromo.

The hotel is nice in general and is probably the best in the Mt. Bromo area. However, the location is not as convenient as some other hotels, which means having to get up much earlier at the middle of the night to see the sunrise over Bromo. It also means that you do not have views of Mt. Bromo in the neighborhood. The landscaping of the hotel is thoughtful and makes good use of the surroundings. The food is also of international standard even if they don't always have everything they list on their menu. It is also possible that is because we are here during rainy season. It seems that the management is also taking the opportunity to refurbish many rooms. Oh, there is no heating in the rooms, so it can get chilly at night being at higher elevation.

The best place to stay when you are going to Bromo. Mind you this is not a cheap one. You'll need to set some budget on that especially when you are not rolling in cash.
