Very good Hotel with a lot of history excellent staff loved the room very clean and a good bed, Breakfast was excellent.
Overall a lovely stay will recommend.

Very special heritage hotel, staffs are super nice always smiling and helpful. The restaurant is also authentic with plenty of selections includes breakfast and afternoon tea snacks. We've visited Blitar and Tugu many times and often stay in one of their rooms. This time we were staying nearby with family but visited the restaurant on numerous occasions for dinner. It's our favourite place to eat in town as the food is always fresh, tasty and reasonably priced with a great menu, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The traditional buildings and decor really add to the experience and are worth visiting alone — if staying in Blitar or just passing by. What I particularly value is that when eating out in Indonesia I usually need to be careful what I eat and drink, particularly things that aren't cooked, like fruit, salad and ice, however at Tugu I know I can relax and eat/drink what I like. I can also get a cold Bintang!

Most definitely the best hotel in Blitar, and probably one of the best in the island of Java.
The main core was built in the late XIXe century and houses the suites. The east wing, with the deluxe and executive rooms, is more recent (but still a bit vintage). The restaurant is at the entrance.
The staff is competent and dedicated. Prices are rather low for a hotel of that standing… Not everything is perfect, but almost.

This hotel is one of the best accommodations I’ve been to. The vintage design is amazing and unique, and the historical value of this place is incredible.
Staying in this place you will have an excellent hotel service combined with warm hospitality as if you’re at family’s house because the kindness of the staff.
If you’re into coffee and history, this place also offers a visit to the beautiful Kawisari Plantation around one hour journey from the hotel. You will find one of a kind experience in there. Very recommended! 👍🏻

Definitely a go-to place if you're looking for a well-rounded, classical, and authentic stay. The atmosphere feels like a charming step back in time, but with all the modern comforts. Their biggest selling point is the perfect blend of timeless elegance and convenience.

One of a kind boutique hotel. It collected memories from Raden Saleh to the First President of Indonesia, Soekarno. It is a living museum.
The colonial building was well preserved. Warmth with the traditional Peranakan Javanese-Chinese decoration, and used for the superiors and suites room.
The buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner was great. Tugu Rijstafel is a must to try.

Some experiences defy explanation given their overwhelmingly positive nature. Such was the astonishing experience of our family's stay at Tugu Blitar Hotel. The hotel building is Dutch colonial architecture blending with the city like surroundings. The room we stayed in was not a typical hotel type room; it was graced with cultural memorabilia related to Blitar’s favorite son, Bung Soekarno. The size of the room was large, more appropriate for a well to do house with a fully beautiful carved antique wooden furnished living/sitting room and separate bedroom with full bathroom and an added powder room.
As is the case with any experience, the difference that made our stay so special was the men & women who staff the Hotel Tugu Blitar. Not only for the expected niceties but more significantly for the experiences offered beyond any other imaginable. Simply showing a family photo of the "Private Sunset Dinner at Candi (Temple) Penataran" can add a thousand hosannas to a summation of our stay:
If you have an opportunity to stay at the Tugu Blitar, for your sake don't pass it up!

On the table there is a very nice welcoming card, but there is beer on the shelf which I can't drink because I'm islam, everything has a vintage feeling, and while the room is small, it's enough for me and 2 other family members. Very convenient.

Our third stop of our Java Journey was in Blitar, and here we were at Hotel Tugu Blitar.
Firstly drove up to the hotel entrance, I just wanted to say, "WOW". I was speechless to see jungle in the middle of the city area. Stopped at the parking spot, there was a front desk on the right hand of the entrance gate. I was amazed with the hotel decoration. Classic, thick of Javanese culture with statues around the property. The hotel area is an open space with a lot of big big trees with big trunks. I do appreciate for the owner who take a good care with the nature around the property.
Guess it was our lucky day, as the staff upgraded our room to Tugu Suite. Thank you for that.
The property has several buildings. The main building itself was built in 1850. The rest of the buildings were new, but the design and concept were very traditional too. Our room was located behind the main building.
Tugu Suite is very spacious room with separate living room area. This colony concept design type of room has a very unique bathtub that comes together with the shower. It has a small chair and we need to descend the bathtub. Such a lovely experience!
What I love for the amenities here? The soap bar. Yes! The soap bar has very nicely fragrant smell. Water heater, water pressure, AC are okay. The Wi-Fi was kind of slow.
The high-tea snack was delicious, but what most attracted me was the outfit of the server.

Our stay at Tugu Blitar was wonderfull. The colonial architecture and photos and relics of the past are interesting.
The staff are most friendly and helpfull and we enjoyed our afternoon Tiffin and Gin and Tonic on the verandah.
The restaurant offers a wide selection in pleasent surroundings with attentitive service.

In our opinion, the absolute difference is always made by the people of the hotel. That is why we prefer smaller boutique hotels. The Tugu Hotel in Blitar (East Java) is among the absolute top in that respect! You feel very welcome here and receive a personal and warm welcome. It just makes you very happy. There is nothing wrong with the hotel, although there is no swimming pool. For us, that was not an issue. Fantastic food and drinks and a lot of attention is paid to local food. The rooms are spacious, the beds large with good linen and the bathroom is very nice, which is half outdoors. Again, the people are very nice!

The hotel is a charming old house in colony style. It is not luxurious, but the atmosphere is priceless.
We had a great time there.
The staff is very friendly and helpfull.
We did a cycle tour with mr. Dodik, very nice. The massage can also be recommended. In the afternoon there is tea with Java sweets. There is a great choice for breakfast and diner.
While the house is like a museum, on our last day we became a private tour through the house. Very interesting.
We will come again.

Loved my experience at Hotel Tugu, Blitar!
From the day I stepped in, my family and I were greeted with such wonderful kindness and hospitality. If you love colonial heritage hotels, this is a must-go and it has a very relaxed and peaceful ambience. A big plus is the food — hands-down, the best traditional Indonesian spread I have had in a long time and the food is always fresh and well-presented. A clean hotel that is located in the heart of town, you can find eateries nearby easily.
I will recommend Hotel Tugu Blitar for you during your stay here.

Charming, small-scale, colonial hotel in the hart of Blitar. We changed our deluxe room to a Tugu suite (no. 1) in the main building (like a mansion) on arrival. We really enjoyed the spacious room with open-air bathroom as well as the seating area outside at the entrance of the building. We did a interesting half day tour, arranged by the hotel, and enjoyed a complementary tea with local delights in the afternoon in the hotel. The Asian food and especially the local Blitar food in the restaurant is just delicious! As well as the breakfast buffet! Such a delight to start your day like this. Thanks for the wonderful stay! Amazing Place.
This hotel is like a hidden gem where in the middle of the city there is a Dutch building which according to one of the staff was built in the 1850s, where this building and its ancient furniture are still very well maintained.
When entering this hotel. I was really surprised because the building was really different from the others.
One thing I always remember is that my room in the main building was very clean with an open bathroom.
In the morning breakfast was served in an exotic restaurant with several types of Javanese dishes, very Javanese flavors.
I tried the typical Blitar food nasi pecel with peanut crackers, very delicious.
Highly recommended and I will definitely be back.

Beautiful hotel in a relatively small town at the island Java. We felt home immediately, the hotel is quite and has a most friendly staff. Excellent food, served with care and attention. We recommend to book a massage and the Biking tour. Biking in Blitar is exciting and visiting Soekarno’s grave is impressive.
