Review of Hotel Tugu Blitar 4*

10/10
Our third stop of our Java Journey was in Blitar, and here we were at Hotel Tugu Blitar.
Firstly drove up to the hotel entrance, I just wanted to say, "WOW". I was speechless to see jungle in the middle of the city area. Stopped at the parking spot, there was a front desk on the right hand of the entrance gate. I was amazed with the hotel decoration. Classic, thick of Javanese culture with statues around the property. The hotel area is an open space with a lot of big big trees with big trunks. I do appreciate for the owner who take a good care with the nature around the property.
Guess it was our lucky day, as the staff upgraded our room to Tugu Suite. Thank you for that.
The property has several buildings. The main building itself was built in 1850. The rest of the buildings were new, but the design and concept were very traditional too. Our room was located behind the main building.
Tugu Suite is very spacious room with separate living room area. This colony concept design type of room has a very unique bathtub that comes together with the shower. It has a small chair and we need to descend the bathtub. Such a lovely experience!
What I love for the amenities here? The soap bar. Yes! The soap bar has very nicely fragrant smell. Water heater, water pressure, AC are okay. The Wi-Fi was kind of slow.
The high-tea snack was delicious, but what most attracted me was the outfit of the server. He wears classic Javanese outfit for male with Sarong and Blankon (please correct me if I am wrong). Next to the restaurant, it has a small stage of the traditional gamelan. Too bad there was no performance when we were staying there. It would have been very lovey if the hotel can consider the traditional gamelan performance during dinner time or breakfast time.
Breakfast was served buffet and ala-carte. Some food such as soups is served ala carte. Restaurant is an open space area with lots of vintage decorations and pictures. Amazing place.
At last, before our check out, we were guided to the President Suite room that is dedicated to late Indonesian's first president, Mr. Soekarno. We were told that the family of Mr. Soekarno stayed in that particular room when visiting Blitar. This suite is located in the main building area that is decorated in vintage paintings, chandelier, tables and chairs.
In short, I can see the owner of the hotel as a vintage collector with thick of Javanese culture and trying to preserve the nature. I do appreciate for this.
Thank you for the great assistance of the staffs from the front office, server, and housekeeper. Thank you for giving us memorable stay in your hotel, not only for the service, but also with the collections and decorations in the property.
