Melva Balemong

The resort’s grounds themselves are beautiful, with nice gardens, a view to the rice fields, and a lot of Javanese art and collectibles. In fact, in many parts it resembles more a museum than an actual hotel.
The staff was friendly and welcoming. Our main point of criticism would be the room (s). The first room we were assigned was on the ground floor, next to the breakfast area, very dark and very outdated. We asked for another room and were given one in a building at the other end of the resort. Despite having asked for a quiet room with a view, we ended up in another very rustic room without any views. While the other side of the building was calm and facing the rice fields, ours faced a busy main street which required us to use ear plugs at night. In combination with the dark and not very cozy room this did not match the serene atmosphere found otherwise in the resort.
In addition, the overall level of comfort was not very high, unfortunately. The breakfast offerings were rather mediocre, and the pool area offered loungers without any toppers — guests had to lay down on the hard wooden furniture. When we settled down poolside, we thought staff would take notice of the uncomfortable conditions and bring us some toppers, but in fact they were busy with themselves and did not care about guests. Throughout our 3D/2N stay, we never noticed any toppers being available, so it’s obviously not even part of their concept.

This time is my 2nd stay and I would love to come to stay here again in the next coming visit.

I would say this hotel is one of the best hotel I have ever visit in Central Java.
The atmosphere is full of ancient javanese and chinese as I can recognize some old devices that create a nostalgic vibes.
The room is spacious and clean, although it's too dark during the night on the Joglo (the room is located in a Joglo)
The breakfast is good although some food are repetitive, but the taste is nice.
The surrounding scene is amazing as we can explore the whole resort and there is a jogging track too.
I would like to say thank you for the staffs and Mr Susilo for accomodate us during the stay.
Definitely will come back in the future to enjoy the good vibes of Melva Balemong.

Organised, clean, tidy. One of the very few places that could fit my perfectionist and cleanliness standard, perfect place for anyone who seek tranquillity in order. Love the antique stuffs, add to the vintage and cultural atmosphere of this place.

Stayed here as part of a family trip and therefore booked four Deluxe rooms. The hotel decided that it would be better if everybody was in one four room Joglo and as this had two Deluxe rooms and two Standard rooms the price charged was reduced accordingly. This was a good move as it turned out that in Joglo Pinayungan the Standard rooms were double beds and the deluxe rooms where twins.
No issues with either the A/C or the plumbing though the bathroom in the standard rooms was a touch cramped.
The buffet breakfast array was extensive and included everything you might expect plus a few more.
As the ‘resort’ part of the name implies there where plenty of activities available, from archery, bike riding both mountain and electric and a good-sized swimming pool.
Be aware that the location is outside Semarang and it is a 40 minute drive into the centre. However it is well positioned for access to the toll road and also towns like Ambarawa, Bandungan and Salatiga.

Am interesting spring fed pool massive, full of koi carp.
Water condition was cool and clean, out I'd the water the facility is in need of a lot of care and attention, quite run down, but that should not put anyone off from making a trip here and swimming in the "spring " water.

This is a hidden gem outskirt of Semarang — Ungaran. The antiques are abundance but very smart in arranging them. I am very impressed.

The hotel was great. We can rent bicycles at this hotel. But the choice of eating breakfast is very small, only two choices. But those two choices are a lot of food.

Beautiful hotel with loads of Javan antiques. The rooms are a little bit tired, but clean. Very good breakfast and restaurant, friendly staff. Good spot to explore the surroundings like 9 temples and the waterfalls.

We very much enjoyed our stay. We came to get fresh air and it is surely fresh here. We rented the standard room so there was no desk. But everything was great! The food is delicious. I ordered the tex-mex burrito 3 times! A classic place run by very professional staff.

Best place in town for business trip and vacation 🙂
