This old hotel has a strong sense of history the moment you step inside. The architecture, long corridors, and classic details make it feel like you’re staying in another era. It’s not modern or flashy, but that’s exactly where its charm lies.
There’s a quiet, slightly eerie atmosphere — especially at night — and locals will tell you stories about the hotel being haunted. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, you can’t deny there’s something mysterious about the place. Subtle sounds, old creaking floors, and dimly lit hallways add to the experience.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, though clearly old-fashioned. Staff are polite and professional, and they treat the hotel’s history with respect rather than trying to sensationalize it.
If you enjoy historic places with character — and don’t mind a bit of mystery — this hotel offers a unique stay you won’t forget.
Well it was a 4 star hotel, when I was checking in I literally had to wait 30 minutes just for my card, when I was waiting the receptionist (there are 4) one of them who was working on my room card, didn't even work on it. Instead worked on other things, that's why it took 30 minutes the room I got was the most standardvbasic, there wasn't much but the TV and mini fridge is old. The bathroom was nice. The bed was comfortable along with the pillow.

This was my first time staying at Oak Tree and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a room upgrade from a standard room to one with a beautiful view.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made my stay even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a great first experience, and I would happily stay here again on my next trip to Semarang.
