Ayu Hotel Karimunjawa

Ayu Hotel was a wonderful place to stay — spacious and clean room, delicious breakfast (loved the toast, omelette, and scrambled eggs), and very friendly people. The owner and guests always greeted me warmly. Only downside was the weak shower water pressure, but overall a great experience!

A wonderful retreat! The owner and staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of both Indonesian and Western options. The hotel also kindly arranged a boat tour, scooter rental, and a relaxing massage for us. Thank you for making our stay so memorable!

Our stay was absolutely perfect! Hospitality in Indonesia is already exceptional, but here it truly goes above and beyond. Marco is an outstanding host — he genuinely goes out of his way to make your dreams come true. We had several unusual requests, and every single one was handled effortlessly and with a smile.
He made our life on the island incredibly easy, helping us get everything we needed. We rented scooters for our entire stay, enjoyed a private tour with Adam (one of his contacts, who is both amazing and very flexible), and always felt well taken care of. This activity is highly recommended. The private tour is great for flexibility.
The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of everything. True, there’s no pool or direct beach access, but honestly, you won’t miss it for a second: you’ll be spending every day at the stunning beaches around the island anyway.

Lovely peaceful little hotel, short distance from ferry. It is centrally located but wasn't noisy from surrounding area. The best part are the hosts, who were incredibly kind, helpful, warm and welcoming. There are standard rooms or little bungalows. The bungalows have outdoor bathrooms which were a unique touch and the rooms, although fairly basic, were clean and comfortable (with mosquito nets on the beds). Breakfast is included and they will rent mopeds or book tours for you. Overall it's a very highly recommended option.

We stayed at Ayu Hotel for over 10 days and we liked it a lot. The room is clean and comfortable, the bathroom is open air (javanese style) and always clean. It is located a few minutes from restaurants and shops, it is a relaxed and quiet place and we felt like being at home! Marco and Eryl are always ready to help with a big smile. They helped us to organize 2 amazing trips in the islands and in the jungle. Breakfast is great too! I recommend you to stay here if you want comfort, quietness in a friendly environment!

Once again we stayed at this wonderful little hotel, situated close to the harbour in the main town of Karimunjawa. Like before we loved our stay 😍 Marco and Eryl did everything they could for us to have a wonderful stay: helped with the ferry tickets, arranged a driver to/ from Semarang, rented us scooters, made us wonderful breakfast with pancakes etc. We stayed in a family bungalow which was spacious and clean and with nice outdoor bathroom. The hotel has a beautiful garden. You don’t want to miss out on this little piece of paradise 🥰

Good experiences in here, good place and good services, Marco always help us if we need something even he gave us place to go for recommendations. And we like the room with hot shower in there. Is not far from the port so is easy to anyplace from Ayu Hotel. Thanks Marco!

Unconventional luxury: quiet and smooth, plants and flowers, wooden furniture, open-air private shower, 5-10 minutes walk to all the restaurants in town (including our two favourites: the night fish market and the Saung Odang). You won’t find a TV in your room and don’t look for French fries, enjoy the garden and delicious local fruit instead. Marco is available at any time and makes every request become true so easily: we enjoyed a snorkeling trip, scuba diving, motorbike rental, and even a one-hour full body massage in our own room (for <10€! ).
We just left today and already wish to be back. Thank you Marco and see you soon!

I had a wonderful stay here. Unfortunately, I just stayed for a night here. Super service with a very friendly smile from our hosts, Marco. The room were clean and comfy, but the water pressure in the shower was low.
Lovely food, tasted very fresh and delicious. So glad we found this place. Thank you Ayu Hotel. Everything was perfect, it is a lovely place with lovely hosts. I highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful place, close to the port but far enough to be peaceful. The rooms are very traditional and comfy, with hot water shower. Marco will look after you extremely well and seems to speak very language so can help guide you. A wonderful 2 night stay.
