Review of Shanthitheeram Lakeside Heritage Resort 3*

Ignore all the other positive reviews. I had booked a lake view room after contacting the resort directly and also paid them the amount on trusting them. On reaching the resort with my pregnant wife, I was initially shown a room which was lakeside (small but clean). While we were settling down, the owner and caretaker who were dressed shabbily (and looking intoxicated) came and told us that there was a mistake and that we were to have another room. They claimed that the new room would be better bigger with better views. This was their trick in getting us out of the first room. As soon as we stepped out, another family (who had just come in adhoc) was made to occupy our room. The moment we came out, we were taken to the back most room which was unclean and very ordinary. When my wife hesitated to get in, she was told that the rooms and bathrooms were huge with an awesome view (it was already evident that this was true when standing outside). Anyway, we went in and realised that they were just taking us for a ride. We decided to move on and look for another place abandoning Shanthitheeram even though we had paid for the room. While we were in he car, the owner came up to us (shabbily dressed and intoxicated), and completely unprofessional, spoke rudely and asked us to clear out if we didn't like the room. This is something that anyone who runs a resort would not do. Take it or leave it was what the caretaker also told us. All this with us (pregnant wife and me) being very calm throughout. you can definitely find other places who serve their customers right for this price.
