Mochilero Ostello

I absolutely loved this hostel! I initially planned to stay here for just a couple of days, but ended up staying for many more that itself says a lot. Met some truly amazing people, had a lot of fun, and created memories I’ll carry with me.
Special mention to the hosts Deepesh bhai and Nimish bhai along with Nema, Shwethank bhai and the rest of the crew, who made the place feel more like home than a hostel. From great vibes to unforgettable parties, everything just clicked.
And of course, the view of Kanchenjunga… absolutely surreal. Waking up to that view is something else altogether.
This place has heart, soul, and energy. Would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for good people, good times, and a stay they won’t forget.

Mocherello Ostello truly felt like home away from home. I booked last December for 2 days and stayed there for two weeks cancelling all my other plans. The warmth of the people, the hospitality the delicious food and overall vibe left a lasting impression. It’s perfect whether you’re a solo traveler or coming in groups; the parties and conversations make’s it easy to connect with the place. The staff and fellow travellers make you feel like family from day one. A place full of heart, comfort and unforgettable memories. Must visit place if you’re visiting Sikkim.

So I stayed at the Mochilero Ostello Nomads, which is the extension of Mochilero Ostello. It's better to say it's a homestay, not a hostel.
— The rooms were clean and spacious, with an incredible view of Kanchenjunga.
— Both the hosts (Gake Didi & Lakpa Bhaiya) and their families were the best hosts I have met so far. They were very kind and generous and served the best home-cooked meals.
— The place is quiet, lies in the lap of nature and is perfect for long stays.
— clean and spacious dorms with all the amenities like lockers. Ample charging points and a big window for ample sunlight.
— If you are going to Mochilero Ostello and want a homestay vibe, I suggest staying at Mochilero Ostello Nomads.

Honestly, one of the best hostel experiences I've had. The vibe is just pure community. I met so many people from different cities here, and everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. The host Nimesh and Deepesh were very kind and friendly throughout the stay. The homestay owner Lakpa Bhutia and his family really made me feel at home. Their hospitality is unreal 10/10. If you are a solo traveler looking for good conversations, great views, and a place that feels like home, this is it. 10/10 would come back. I feel family trips would be an equally amazing experience at this place.

What an unforgettable stay!
I absolutely loved my time at this hostel. The vibes are incredible calm, relaxing, and full of positive energy. The views from the property are stunning, with beautiful, clear sights of Kanchenjunga that made every morning feel special.
The place is spotless, the atmosphere is perfect, and the hosts are truly amazing warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. The food here is incredibly tasty, and trying the local alcohol was such a fun and unique experience it really added to the charm of the stay.
I had one of the best experiences here, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.

Mochilero Ostello has the perfect vibe—clean rooms, great common areas, and super friendly staff. The location is peaceful yet close to everything. Would definitely come back!

Good food! no lunch tho but the view is insane they gave us homemade wines and the room with bunkbeds the top bunk is hard to climb but I don't mind the toilets are bad that's why I deduct a star like so bad the water leaks when flush.

A place that is nestled in the lap of nature, which offers a great view of the mighty Kanchenjunga. The accommodation offers clean and cozy rooms. Delicious food was served prepared using locally grown produce. All the people we met there treated us with genuine kindness and warmth. We were also welcomed into their homes with open hearts which made it an even more memorable experience. Scooty was available on rent, which made it easier to explore the places around.

Had an amazing stay at this hostel (Home Stay)! The hospitality was top-notch, the food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly warm and helpful. The place truly felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend!

The team at Mochilero will take great care of you, go out of their way to help you out, and ensure that you have the best time ever. The hostel's rooms are clean, and there are lots of places to hangout and vibe with other travelers over food, drinks, music, or even a bonfire!
This hostel/home stay is the perfect place to halt whenever in West Sikkim and I can't wait to visit again!

My best hostel experience in India, and surely one of the best in the world. At first the place seems remote, but then you realize that the shortcuts make it accessible while being s4cl7ded at the same time. In the middle of the nature, excellent view, good food, plenty of drinks and the best people, as staff and as guests!

There is zero hospitality and flexibility at this place. The breakfast they serve has only one option, very rigid anf not avcommodating at all. Hostel is also very small, no community vibe, cars cant go to the top — quite long trek to the hostel. They try to just keep getting money out of you.
Definitely do not recommend.

An alternative and off the beaten track place to stay in lower Pelling. It’s social, cozy and relaxed. Also it’s clean and the beds in the 5 bed dorm are soft. Home cooked breakfast and dinner can be provided if you’d like. It’s a decent 25 minute track up or down relative to Pelling, in return you get a great if the weather is clear. There’s a fire place outside in front of the dorm which can be heard clearly at night. Staff are friendly, chatty and happy to help.

Mochilero Ostello is THE place to be in Pelling. Property is beautiful with amazing views. The host and staff is friendly and helpful. We had the most amazing home cooked meals here and will forever cherish the conversations and experiences there. Will visit Nimesh and friends again soon. 🫂
