Jamindars Palace

We stayed for 3 days in an ocean-view room on the 3rd floor with a balcony, and the view alone made our trip absolutely refreshing and memorable. If you’re booking here, definitely pick the upper floors, they offer the best panoramic sea view.
Although the hotel is Beachfront, there’s no direct beach access from the property. To reach the beach, we had to go through Pantha Niwas and pay ₹20 per person at their reception for entry. It’s a bit inconvenient, especially for a beachfront hotel.
Food is one area that can be improved. The breakfast spread was quite average, and the in-room dining options were also just okay. Toiletries could also be better. However, the service was polite, prompt and helpful, which added to our overall comfort.

The Jamindar Hotel offers luxurious rooms with spacious balconies featuring cozy swings, perfect for taking in the breathtaking views of the swimming pool and entrance front yard. Beach is a true gem.

Extremely Disappointing Stay — Definitely Not Worth the Price.
I stayed here recently and was shocked by the poor maintenance and lack of basic hospitality.
Pool Area:
The pool area was dirty and unhygienic throughout my stay. It took them three days just to clean the entrance to the pool area — something any staff member should have noticed immediately (photo attached). People were washing their garments from the beach in the pool area, turning it into a pond. There’s no lifeguard or staff to monitor such behavior. The pool infrastructure itself is outdated and unsafe — not at all kid — or senior-friendly.
Beach Access:
While the location is good, the so-called complimentary beach access is allowed only once a day. If you want to visit the beach again, you have to buy tickets. On the checkout day, they don’t even provide a complimentary pass! That’s ridiculous and completely ruins the experience.
Dining Experience:
Breakfast was another disaster. There’s poor management, not enough tables or cutlery, and everything feels chaotic. They even use broken, rusted cutlery and paper cups (photo attached). Service is slow, unorganized, and far below even a 3-star standard.
Rooms & Facilities:
Rooms are spacious but very poorly lit. Furniture is extremely old and depressing, completely killing any vacation vibe. Bathrooms are in terrible condition — honestly too unhygienic to describe.
Overall:
They charge like a 4-star hotel but deliver zero-star service.

Beautiful location by the golden sandy beach with no obstruction to the sea facing balconies (which we had). Rooms were glamorous and comfortable. Walk in shower, hot and cold shower and tea making facilities completes the first round.
While the hotel has a small pool towards the feont, there was no one in it at all. I reckon if it was in the backside then the uptake would have been better.
The elevator was really small, claustrophobic, and the stair cases though nice and wide had shiny tiles/ marbles on them with potential slip risk. You can access the beach easily from the hotel and the beach has lifeguards.
Overall, comfortable stay and recommended.

Jamindars Palace Puri describes an "absolute disgrace" and a "complete nightmare. "
The main issues are:
1. ​Terrible Room Condition: The room was cramped, dark, and claustrophobic, much smaller than advertised (booked for three, but felt smaller than a typical living room). Half the furniture was broken, the telephone line wasn't working, and the lights did not work even after complaining.
2. ​Non-existent Cleanliness: Floors were dirty, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in ages, and the bedsheets seemed used and unchanged. The common restaurant washroom was also extremely dirty (worse than public washrooms).
3. ​Noisy AC and Lack of Amenities: The AC made loud, irritating noises preventing sleep. Basic amenities like towels, tissue rolls, and toiletries were not provided even after multiple requests.
​Horrible Food and High Prices: The food was absolutely horrible in taste and quality, yet they charged an excessive amount for tiny portions.
4. ​Inconvenient Policies: The 8 AM check-out time is inconvenient, and there is no proper waiting area for later travel. Guests are forced to sit in the tiny, non-AC reception, which is extremely uncomfortable in the Puri heat.
​Overall, I calls the stay a "traumatic experience" and advise others to "AVOID at all costs. "

It was probably a Jamindar Palace once upon a time. Now it has lost its glory. It's skeleton exists. I had a lots of expectations when I booked it. They charged 6000rs for Sea view room. As soon I entered the hotel. The reception area is just like ordinary cheap hotel. Ac not working. Floor is dusty.
Rooms were poorly maintained.
Ac sensor has issue.
Breakfast is very average.
Pool is good.
Spa is pathetic.
They did swedish massage with amul coconut oil. After that I had itching whole body.
Location & view from balcony is good. Breakfast Staff were good.
Overall I was not at all happy with the money I paid. If the cost was 3000 — 3500 rs. It makes sense.

As much we would have loved to stay at the hotel our valid booking was arbitrarily cancelled even after we had paid an advance. I had paid Rs. 10000 in advance on March 2025 to book the Jamindar suite, a room we always book whenever we go to Puri. Our booking was from 1st May to 3rd May 2025. On 22nd April I received a call trying to persuade me to take another suite as the Jamindar suite had been twice booked by mistake! It was a day or two later the management cancelled our booking and said would return our advance.
I am yet to get a refund though every now and then people from the hotel apologizes and says they would soon return the advance, but that date has not come as yet.
Who this elusive management is I don't know but what I realise is the management is unlike anything I have seen who cannot identify where money is credited from to their hotel's account inspite of having send them the copy of the receipt.
Please check twice before booking this hotel, you never know the what would happen to you.

The property itself is beautiful and has a lot of potential. However, the front desk experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a noticeably cold and unwelcoming attitude—no smile, and a tone that suggested irritation or fatigue, which unfortunately set a negative tone for our stay.
That said, the service overall was good. The rooms were average—not bad, but nothing exceptional. We were disappointed to find the pool was not well-maintained and the spa was closed during our visit.
With such a stunning location, we believe that hiring more professional and welcoming front desk staff could significantly enhance the guest experience.

Excellent location, but the place has very bad service. It took long time to check in because the receptionist was busy on her mobile more than attending to guests. The water bottles provided were refilled Bisleri bottles. Hand towels were not provided, even after asking. Hotel is good for location and the food in the restaurant is okay.
Their checkout time is 8am, but they don't start serving breakfast till well after 7:45.
Not recommended for the price.

Jamindar’s Palace is a place that believes in charging a high price, minimising the cost and maximising the profit. Without a bell desk to help incoming guests, the hotel employs untrained and demotivated staff in the front desk that only knows how to cook-up an excuse. While checking-in I asked for a room on the higher floor but my request was flatly denied. But after moving in we complained when we found that the entire floor, where we had the room, was stinking terribly because of a dirty drain. Unable to do anything about the smell for a long time, they magically found a room for us on the top floor.
Not just the smelly corridors, the rest of the hotel too is extremely dirty. Air freshners sit idly. Swimming pool is just a muddy pond without any filtering process or pre-shower facility (see pic). We didn't venture into the pool though we saw some brave-hearts enjoying food and drinks while splashing around. A manager in a suit shared his view that putting chlorine into the pool occasionally is good enough maintenance!
Buffet breakfast is unsatisfactory. Given the hotel’s high price, one would expect a live counter but would only get cold omelets and dosas. Clueless restaurant staff don't feel the need to keep the time at which they have announced to start the breakfast or lunch service. So, a long wait is inevitable.
On the brighter side, the location of the hotel is awesome for beach-lovers. Mr. Prashant Mohanty in the restaurant is the sole guest-friendly face there.

Visited Puri with my family and booked this hotel primarily due to the family suite they have, which could accommodate all the 5 members. The room (Jamindar Suite) is very spacious, comprising a large bedroom with two beds, a small bedroom, a hall, two bathrooms and two balconies with ocean view. The view from the main balcony was great, with the sea right in front. However, a lot of things left to be desired, the biggest downer being that the hotel does not have a private beach access — one needs to go via the adjacent OTDC property (Panthaniwas) to reach the blue flag golden beach.
Coming to the facilities, this is a small hotel and the food although good, takes a lot of time to be prepared and served. We had dinner in their restaurant once, and it took them an hour to serve it (this prompted us to have dinner in the restaurant of the adjacent OTDC hotel the next day). Even the in-room dining was very slow.
Overall, I feel the hotel has a lot of potential, specially due to its location, however, the management needs to work on a few things, particularly on providing a private access to the beach, as this is the main reason tourists visit any seaside location for.

Doesn't worth the cost. Food is not good. Rooms stinks. Except complimentary water rest are filtered water without option. Not walkable to temple. No direct link to beach.

The hotel has an amazing location and seating view. It's next to the golden beach which is a blue tag beach. Very clean. The rooms are nice and decently maintained. The hotel is also not too far from Jagannath Temple. The staff is courteous and friendly.

Had an amazing stay at this beachside hotel! The location is unbeatable—just steps from the ocean, offering stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were clean and cozy, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Perfect for a peaceful getaway or a fun-filled vacation by the beach.

We enjoyed a lot. Access to the Golden Beach, swimming pool, quality food, courteous staff, were the positives for me. Best space in nice restaurant in best place.

Ambiance: The atmosphere here is serene and laid-back, with open-air seating that allows diners to enjoy the sea breeze. The beachside location adds to its appeal, making it a fantastic spot for both day and evening meals. At night, the ambiance becomes even more enchanting with soft lighting, the sound of the ocean, and the cool breeze. The restaurant has a mix of wooden tables, beach loungers, and cozy indoor seating options.
Food: The menu offers a wide variety of coastal cuisine, alongside other Indian and continental options. I tried their Grilled Seafood Platter, which was fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The prawns were especially succulent. Their Fish Curry is another standout dish, cooked with rich spices and served with steamed rice. For vegetarians, the Paneer Tikka was flavorful and had a nice smoky char from the tandoor.
One of the highlights is their fresh coconut water, served directly from the coconut, which adds a refreshing touch to the meal. For dessert, I had the Tender Coconut Payasam, a local delicacy that was creamy and mildly sweet, the perfect way to wrap up a meal by the beach.
Service: The staff at Jamindar’s Place is friendly and attentive.

We had booked the sea facing suite room. What can I say?! The best hotel stay in a very ling time. Didnt expect such luxurious stay in a budget. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and always ready to help. We ordered food through room service, it was tasty and was of good quality. The Golden beach is next door so if you have elderly people with you then they will not have to walk much. The beach true to its name is a golden beach, after all it has the blue flag credibility.
