Year after year I have come for the last 13 years and it is always an amazing place.
Great easy facilities right on the beach, great food to be ordered in the morning and made fresh from local products, great nice staff managed by the nicest Prakash.
Extremely calm and nice beach, with nice fishing villages at 30 min of bike away.

We booked at Kanan beach resort to have a few days of complete relaxation in the middle of our seven week trip to Indian — and to meet up with our adult children. We chose north Kerela for mutual convenience and for the beautiful landscape we had read much about. What a find this beautiful accommodation was.
We enjoyed fantastic service from Prakash and his team, both with contact prior to arriving and looking after us whilst we were there. The small number of cottages ensures that you feel part of the Kanan 'family' without that being intrusive. It also ensures that you enjoy the space and tranquility of the grounds and accommodation with compete privacy — and the beauty of those very carefully maintained grounds directly leading to the private beach (so clean) is a very special gift that this location provides. Laze on one of the sun loungers, under a palm umbrella, under a tall palm tree, near a carefully protected turtle nest, and watch the most wonderful sunsets directly in front of you. Bliss. Especially blissful when you realise that neighbouring resorts do not have such well-appointed beach side provision.
The pool is an excellent size for lap swimming, if you fancy a change from the waves and warmth of being in the ocean or a simple cool down after a long walk along the beautiful coastline. The food is delicious and very good value. The French owner, Martin, is 'charmant' and so very clearly proud of what he has built and achieved with his team.

A perfect end to our Kerala travels.
This was our final stay and it was just perfect. Right on the most amazing white sandy beach, a beautiful pool and spacious villas. There are only 10 bungalows which make the resort intimate and special.
We had a pool/sea view villa which was spacious with a large veranda to sit out on. It had a large sitting room with full size fridge, a large spacious bedroom with walk in closet and large wet room. Everything was spotlessly clean.
We had amazing and delicious food every meal, with a good selection to choose from. The restaurant looks out over the beach.
This is a must stay if you want a relaxing, peaceful and 5 star stay.
All the staff were friendly, so helpful and helped to make our stay just perfect.

Kanan beach resort is located alongside a serene beach in a remote village neat Neeleshwaram. The property has got 10 huts which are painstakingly designed to achieve the look of old kerala house structure and look, but with all modern amenities. The room is equipped with mini fridge, AC, Wi-Fi, kettle, locker, tea/coffee bags, toiletries, dental kits etc. There is NO TV fitted in the room, which I found as a good though which would bring back the 'talking' habit among family.
Restaurant serves all Indian and Chinese cuisine. The MUST TRY item is Caramel Pudding which comes in the dessert option. Its better to order early since the preparation time is much longer.
There is wheel chair access to almost all places, except to the rooms. The property is having a nice big pool also.
The entire property is owned by a Frech family, who come here to stay once or twice every year for one month together during which this property is NOT rented to outsiders.

Kanan beach resort is located adjacent to the sea beach and waves of Arabian sea are visible from each cottage through the coconut garden. It's beautifully maintained by very cordial and friendly staffs.
Cottage is equipped with modern amenities including free Wi-Fi. Furnitures are from natural woods or bamboo and canes, very much eco friendly.
Food is excellent though little costly but worth it.
Service by each employee is having very humble and friendly touch with big smile. They are simply great to make the guest feel homely.
I love to come back again and again in this resort.
I'll recommend my friends and relatives to experience this beautiful place.

I have been a regular at the resort, mostly with friends and it's my duty and privilege to pen down my feedback on the property. Rarely have I seen and experienced such a wholesome service that extends from excellent hospitality to very good value. The cottages are spacious, the food is of the best quality and the upkeep and maintenance of the property is truly of international standards. The USP of this property is it's enviable view of the beach from almost every single cottage. The evenings therefore give us sublime and pristine experience just as the mornings give us a complete refreshing one. You could spend the whole day in the resort and still not feeling bored one bit. And to top it all, their Spa is world class and a must try. Having travelled extensively, I am also of the firm belief that what makes good customer delight possible are two factors, one : staying true to purpose and not compromising on service standards and two : the people behind this. I therefore have to call out the services of Mr. Prakash, the property manager, who has been the person behind making this happen. He has always been the person for me to go back time and again, almost like that of a relationship manager being the reason for clients to stay loyal. And he is wonderfully assisted by Sanal, Sakesh and Manu who have been the ones responsible in delighting us with wonderful delicacies that truly blend taste, variety and culture.

Pros:
We visited Kanan beach resort during early March 23 and the stay was excellent. We stayed in Double room cottage (No 6) with a garden view and room was as advertised. The hall is wide and opens to beach view (very far) on one side and garden view on the other. The sliding wooden doors provide a good view and they can opened so much the hall looks like front portigo. The room is on a raised platform to give. A better view of the ocean and there are couple of bamboo chairs where one can relax. The bedroom is quite spacious and also has a sliding glass door which provides sea view (bit far). The bedroom is attached to a spacious bathroom (dual door), which opens on other side to luggage room and then to hall. The place is well maintined and rooms were clean and comfortable. The walk to beach from our cottage was less than 100m and beach is very good. There are lot of beds with shade on the beach. Though its a public beach, its not used by locals on weekdays. So you almost have the beach to the hotel guest. The swimming pool and garden are quite nice.
Cons:
The restaurant food can be be improved. The Indian dishes are very below par. They could not cook things we eat on a daily basis quite right. This might not be apparent to foreigners but for Indians its quite disappointing. The resort staff is courteous and well behaved. The massage is also quite sub par especially the oils.

Second visit from the UK to Kanan Beach Resort and thoroughly enjoyed our longer stay as facilities, food and service were again outstanding! Chef's thoughtful and delicate touch with sauces and dips created a varied menu of fantastic, tasty, freshly prepared dishes. The restaurant nestling amongst the palms and the sound of the ocean waves was a perfect setting. We'll be back again soon!

Outstandingly good during our second stay and exceeded our high expectations! The lush Kanan Beach Resort has friendly helpful staff, wonderful cottages, a glistening pool and a varied menu of excellent freshly prepared dishes. The high quality of the ingredients and Chef's inspired pairing of sauces and dips was really top notch. We'll be back again from the UK!

Our 11th visit for 4 weeks Jan/Feb 2024. We obviously love this place! The reasons are many — lovely detached bungalows, beautiful grounds, great pool, superb breakfast, lunch & dinner. The staff make every visit a delight, they are ALL exceptional, from the charming and very skilled chef, the 3 absolutely super guys in the beachside restaurant, through the maintenance staff, gardeners and the daily cleaners, all are extremely friendly. What's not to love?

Beautiful place to rest and enjoy your vacation! The ocean waves are soothing, as are the views! The staff are so friendly and kind and will go out of their way to help with any need! Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away and relax. Also, check out the Ayurvedic treatments! My husband and I wish we could have enjoyed more!

What a wonderful place to stay! We ended up at KBR after am 8 day trip down from Bangalore and what a wonderful way to end our holiday!
Everything about the resort was perfect — the sort of 5 star boutique luxury you would pay $500 a night for in other places but for very significantly less.
Probably one of the nicest places we have ever stayed at — just 10 "cottages" spread out around a pool with direct access to the most perfect and deserted beach.
Special mention to all the wonderful staff!

Yet another wonderful stay! This was our second visit to this beautiful resort and its wonderful and kind staff. We love the serenity this resort has to offer. Clean and spacious rooms with a sea view and a very hospitable staff what more can one want. This has become our go to place for family holidays. Each time we visit, we wish we could stay longer. Would strongly recommend this resort to everyone who is looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate with family. I would like to particularly mention the over and above service attitude of the staff here. There were many instances of thoughtful gestures by the resort staff that made our stay here even more enjoyable.
We had the chance to meet the resort owner during our stay and it’s obvious he takes much pride in his resort and staff and why would he not, he has a happy and efficient management and service team. So thank you again Team Kanan for the memorable stay.

This property is an absolute must visit if you are looking for a laid back vacay. The resort is so beautifully designed, with all its interiors made of wood and so much open space covered with coconut trees in the front. Everything was top notch — cleanliness, hospitality, food etc. There were floor mats kept in the room, to sit it in the beach, which we have never seen in any other beach resorts. It was so useful, as we spent most of our time sitting under the shade of coconut trees playing board games. The food was extremely tasty with good portion size. Manu and Sakesh, who attended to us were extremely polite and friendly, went far and beyond to cater to all our needs — they even changed a day’s breakfast buffet menu since we wanted to have puttu kadala curry, and also, agreed to pack us lunch (whatever we asked for) in the morning itself, on the day of check out. The beach is calm, with no much crowd around. Best place to relax and enjoy 😊 We are surely going back again! :) ♥️

We have stayed at Kanan beach resort twice — a beach resort is an experience I look forward to when visiting my parents from the U. S once a year — and I really wanted to give them 5 stars.
However the hospitality can benefit from serious improvements. We were hassled from the night before departure (while trying to have a relaxed dinner) to the morning of departure with questions about what time we were going to check out. The front desk even called my father’s cellphone! (when we were trying to enjoy the serenity of nature), asking us when we were going to check out. These were rude and unprofessional interruptions to an otherwise peaceful experience. When presented with this feedback, the lady at the front desk tried to explain this by saying that she wanted to make sure the bill was going to be settled appropriately. What kind of reputable establishment doesn’t trust their guests to settle their bill during the regular checkout process and instead hassles them during their stay — did they think we were going to swim into the ocean to avoid the bill or climb the gate out? Pretty bizarre and annoying.
While checking out, the lady at the front desk tried my credit card and immediately said that it doesn’t have enough money on it or doesn’t work. A strange allegation, for it took me less than 5 seconds of looking at their credit card machine to notice that all that needed to be done was the pressing of a Continue button and a signature to get through the transaction.
