Golden Sun

We visited Tigaki Golden Sun few days ago as a family with small kid. Rooms are nice and clean, has air conditioner. Place is very quite to sleep but you only have 2-3 minutes walk to busy part of Tigaki bars and beach. Food in Golden Sun is amazing, burgers, pancakes, steaks, lovely greek coffee etc. They have big playground in shade for kids, kids pool with water slide, bar for adults and pool as well. Pools were very well maintened and clean. We loved the place as it is family bussiness and they seemed like nice people, all we asked they helped and they would do anything with no hussle. We are definately coming back, you are amazing people. Keep going!

Didn't stay here but visited friends. Used the pool and had drinks and snacks. Good quality and value and really friendly service.

Basic accommodation. Great pool area. Ideal location for bat's, restaurants and beach. Quiet environment.

Very friendly and helpful hosts. Nice pool with snack bar. We had a room with a view of the salt lake and the sea, and it was great! the hotel is located in a quiet place but very close to the center and the beach. The perfect place to relax :)

I have been visiting Kos since I was 15, and Tigaki has a special place in my heart.
I am a solo traveller in my mid twenties, who stayed at the Golden Sun for 4 nights in September. The owner of the hotel, George, is so lovely and could not have been more helpful. George kindly answered my many questions that I had before and during my stay.
The hotel is in a great location, and my room was huge. It had everything I needed including plenty of storage space, a kitchen area, hairdryer, aircon etc. The room was very clean, with fresh towels always being provided.
The grounds itself, are lovely and there is a lovely pool and snack bar which there was always people at.
As a returning solo traveller, I have always felt safe in Tigaki, but finding a hotel I feel safe in is just as important and I felt so safe within this hotel. The staff always say hello and have a smile on their face.
A special shoutout to the woman behind the desk (did not catch her name). My phone broke on my first day, which was a worry with just being by myself and having no contact to home. She kindly booked me a taxi into Kos town so I could go to Vodafone and this was fixed.
On departure, my flight was not until midnight, but George was kind enough to give me a late checkout of 2pm and there is showers available to get ready.
I would 100% return to this hotel. Thanks again! 😃

You get what you pay for with the Golden Sun. It was a good hotel overall and the pool area was excellent, however the rooms are a pretty outdated and falling apart a bit. It was clean enough despite a few spiders & had everything I needed. The bathroom was perfectly functional despite the shower being a bit small. The staff were lovely, I was able to check in the morning of my first day as I had arrived during the night & when my toilet stopped flushing it was fixed in a matter of minutes. Overall I would recommend the Golden Sun as the price is very reasonable & location is ideal :)

So as a family of 4 which included two young children 6 & 3, we needed some reasonably priced accommodation prior to going to our all inclusive hotel due to flights. So we found the Golden Sun on booking. Com with a fair/ reasonable price for 2x nights. What made us book was the reviews and we can now see why.
The service we received from the sibling management was exceptional. Check in was simple and easy, room size we booked a family room with 2x separate rooms and a kitchen/sofa and dining area if you wanted to self cater, with more than enough storage space for clothes. Was clean and we even had a small balcony or outside area for us as we were on the ground floor.
We opted to order breakfast from the pool bar and I would say the food was perfect, pancakes with Nutella for the kids and more than enough breakfast options for the adults. The frappe was made to order and was a perfect Greek frappe.
There was more than enough sunbeds and pool space, even a great deep end for taller swimmers like myself to under water stretch about swim. There is also a kids play area under shade! Great for the kids to have some sun breaks.
The sibling management and staff were so polite, friendly warm and just super hospitable you would think you were in a 5* for the service.
One fault which is nothing to do with the golden sun, but more for potential boomers, taxis these are extremely hard to get on the island of Kos and need to be prebooked.

Loved it! The pool is amazing — well kept, quite big, not busy (August only had half the sunbeds taken even though the hotel seemed fairly full) and with a nice setting.
The location is great — few minutes stroll to Tavernas, bars, supermarket in Tigaki. Theres a good bakery even closer.
We came for 1 week to have 2 different weeks — this one to switch-off, quiet, semi-rural; next week Kos Town.

We had a two bedroom apartment which was a great size, the two bedrooms came off the kitchen/living area.
The balcony was a good size with views over to the salt lake.
The room was basic old traditional Greek style but lovely and clean.
The pool and bar area were lovely, great pool which was never busy, food was good, again the area was lovely and clean.
The family who owned the apartments were friendly and helpful.
Golden Sun was in a lovely area, not far from the beach and restaurants and bars.
A word of warning to check your room at night for mosquitoes, even with the mosquito net and repellent myself and husband had quite a few bites.
Would not hesitate to stay here again.

The rooms were extremely clean. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast portions were sufficient. The location is in the Tigaki area, if you rent a car you can reach Kos city center in 10-15 minutes. However, there are bus stops just five minutes away. I would like to thank Chrisoula and her brother George for their wonderful hospitality and helpfulness.

I loved the family atmosphere and how small it was. George, Sophia, Soula and the family were always around and the pool area was never full with plenty of sunbeds for everyone.
Food was cooked fresh and I'm sure the veg came from their beautiful garden.
Our balcony overlooked the salt lakes and a field with chickens, cows and goats. The sun going down was like silver shimmer over the lake.
The rooms were spotless though some TLC in areas were needed. Towels, sheets etc… great. Our shower was excellent always hot and powerful, unfortunately my daughters would not hang up but she didn't mind.
I didn't use the kitchen facilities but it looked as if it had everything though a bit of a mish mash with plates, cups etc. Probably does need better glasses but I managed fine.
I have stayed in a lot of places in Tigaki and I would definitely return.
The only minor problem was the noise from other guests, (very loud a mixture of nationalities that didn't seen to have respect for other guests} Normally I wouldn't care but 2am onwards it was ridiculous.

Just returned from the golden sun, rooms are basic but you have everything you need there, the pool area was really lovely and the food was great and reasonably priced, the staff could not be more helpful and friendly we had such a lovely time there, just a little walk to the main strip, thank you for making our time there enjoyable.

We've just returned from a 10 day stay at the Golden Sun Apartments. There were 16 of us in total and we all had a wonderful time. The apartments are family run and you are made to feel so welcome from the minute you arrive. Special thanks to Soula who made our stay so great and was always on hand to assist us, even keeping the snack bar open late for us when we wanted to have dinner round the pool.
The apartments are situated in a great location. A short walk to the main strip with plenty of bars and restaurants. A short walk to the beautiful beach and a great bakery a few minutes away. You have wonderful views of the mountains, salt lake and farm land. The area is peaceful and quiet, yet close to all amenities.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which although dated was spotlessly clean and comfortable. It included all you need for a self catering holiday, fridge, kettle and cooking rings. It also had air con and mosquito nets on all window and doors which is a great addition.
The pool area is lovely and clean. A decent sized pool (very deep! ) and a nice children's pool with slide. A little enclosed play park which was a godsend for the children as well as a pool table. The snack bar was great and everything we had from there was fresh and delicious, especially the homemade chips. It had a great selection of food as well as crepes and ice creams. A massive hit with the children!
If we return to Kos which we hope we will, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

The Rooms are a bit dated but ok for the price AC worked fine for 7 Euros a day the Safe is free if you need fresh Towels you have to request them from the Cleaner. The Pool area is very good It looks like it has been updated with a nice pool Bar with good Food and drinks the Staff are very nice and friendly. The Hotel is not that far from the Beach about 10 Minutes walk away, 2 Minutes to the Salt Lake and 2 Minutes to the Main Bars and shops area of Tigaki. The Hotel is very quiet with no noise or loud Music coming from Bars or neighboring Hotels.

The lady at the front desk is friendly and welcomes guests with a smile.
The hotel is old and was never refurbished.
Upon arrival the fridge in the room was disconnected and took ages to reach the right temperature. The furniture of the room are from the 80s and should be changed asap.
The bathroom has a shower with a curtain that will not prevent the water from draining on the floor.
The amenities are totally basic. The kitchen had 1 pot, 1 tea pot, several plates of different colors and sizes and cutlery was partially rusty and some pieces were not cleaned well. There was nothing to wash them with and we had to ask the staff for a sponge and some dish soap to wash them up.
We never visited the swimming pool since it was crowded all the time.
A/C comes with extra charge and was really noisy.
There is a parking lot available in the premises so no need to worry about that.
The location is quiet and peaceful, not so close to the beach and away from the main street of Tigaki, which is almost always busy and full of noisy bars, cafeterias and taverns.

Love this place almost as much as I love the people who run it. Truly fantastic hosts. It’s our 3rd time here and definitely not our last. A lovely stunning place to truly rest, relax and recharge. Tingaki is a really chilled beautiful town with great places to eat and drink, or sample their fantastic burgers and delicious chips. The beaches (if you can pull yourself away from the pool) are stunning. Sunsets that are breathtaking every night. What more could you ask for. See you soon x.

Traditional rooms/very generous size/overlooking salt lake (excellant mosquito screens) lovely views/very clean/comfortable beds/lovely pool area/5 mins walk to beach/couple mins walk to main road/peacefull.

Owners-lovely people.
Excellant stay. Could not fault.
