This hotel is in a great location, — quiet yet the old town is just a couple of minutes away. Our experience was a bit mixed, and considering the price, we expected more. We had a lovely, spacious room overlooking the park. Interestingly, there was only a limited number of outlets, and not particularly convenient for charging devices. An irritant was that the hair dryer was a basic cheap version which overheated within a minute or two. Also, the room was fairly cold, that being said by people who don't want a room that's too warm. They have an amazing breakfast buffet!
I was lucky enough to stay at the Dorint Am Goethepark Weimar hotel when travelling recently with Leger and I really wish we'd stayed here for more than one night!
The hotel is very smart, the design is 'classic' aka it isn't modern but it looks very very good. There is a park opposite which I had opportunity to walk around for 45 minutes — it's a lot bigger than you'd expect! The hotel itself seems to be a little outside the centre of town so there was no road noise at all.
The staff were brilliant, I especially want to call out (and apologies if I have spelled your name wrong) Samichi. She was on reception when we arrived and was so friendly and polite, a bit later on I asked her a question in my (poor) German and as there were no other guests she took the time to help me with my accusative and dative cases. Ich danke Ihnen für Ihre hilfe!
Samichi wasn't the only friendly member of staff, those in the morning were just as nice (someone else at breakfast also helped with my German by talking to me very slowly which meant I understood it — so thanks to you as well! ).
Breakfast here was excellent, there was a huge selection both continental and more English fare — I especially liked the milchbrötchen, but the cold meat selection was impressive as well.
I was in room 106 which was opposite the lift and stairs, so very convenient!

The hotel reception staff are very friendly and welcoming. The sauna area is spacious and well designed, featuring a Turkish steam sauna, a nearby dry seating area, and two additional large dry saunas — one at 60°C and another at 90°C. A particularly nice touch is the variety of teas available in the sauna area, which is impressive for a 4-star hotel in Germany (many hotels don’t even provide free water). There is also dedicated staff in the sauna area, making everything feel well organized and professionally managed.
The breakfast was excellent — the food was tasty and high quality, and they even offered lactose-free milk for coffee, something I rarely see even after staying in hotels across Germany and more than 50 other countries.
Overall, this hotel clearly exceeds expectations and feels more like a 4-star-plus property. A great choice, especially if you value wellness facilities and a high-quality breakfast.
