Great quiet location, nice spa area, friendly and helpful service, great breakfast, nice ambience.

A really nice hotel and attractive destination.
The staff are all very polite and shine as good hosts. The surroundings great for hikers. And for wellness lovers, the spa with a large pool for swimming and a sauna area is available.
We had a lovely time here and would like to recommend this place. 😊

Very nice spa and good food.

It was just great! Beautiful location, delicious food, clean rooms, good value for money and extremely nice staff. Although a staff shortage caused problems with the booked spa treatments, everything was done to make our stay as pleasant and relaxed as possible. We say thank you and will be back! :)

Did a company outing and enjoyed it very much.
The hotel is very nice and located in the quiet forest.
The buffet was super tasty,
had a generous selection and friendly staff could not be missing.
The dishes were not left on the table for long which I found very good.
These were also not hectically pulled off the table, which is unfortunately sometimes the case in other hotels
Therefore also at the table, an absolute highlight to relax.
The bar is also very good.
Will definitely recommend it and visit again.

You can't single out individual things. It was an all-round package, everything was great! From the surroundings, the rooms (which have been newly renovated), the service to the food. And of course my daughter's wedding! It was overwhelming what the hotel did. The design of the location, the celebration, the service staff, the kindness (we sat until 4 a. M. ). And don't forget the service workers who had to clean up everything. We felt really comfortable here! Keep it that way and stay healthy!

Quietly located, friendly staff and a wonderful spa area. On us as a group of 20 people, special requests were made immediately feasible!

We liked it very much. Location, rooms and food correspond to 4 stars. Breakfast is better than in some more expensive hotels. For a weekend on site a good recommendation. Pets are also welcome, hiking trails right outside the door.
We had several celebrations on site at the same time and the staff didn't have it easy. However, there were no significant delays.

More appearance than being. Five star prizes, but only three stars eat and sole entertainer as a waiter. What is the use of the ambience? The food was far below expectations in terms of quality. The waiter just embarrassed.

Wur spent the weekend in one of the apartments. From the inside, the apartments are clean and well maintained, but the external impression of the two buildings shocks somewhat. Here, removing Moos/plants and attaching some paint would help a lot. The covered connecting path towards the main building also does not invite you to use it.

Hotel Gabelbach. Always the best service … Great environment. Secluded. My wife and I like to come here. Everything is perfect.

Middle magnificent. Dating at breakfast and dinner great. Rooms sensibly equipped. Spa top! Parking situation miserable, especially since hotel guests also collect a proper parking fee. That is not really possible. Staff overall somewhat uninspired, on the last evening in the restaurant totally overwhelmed: To have to wait forever for the food, dessert finally canceled. Unclear if we're going there again.

We were invited to a nice dinner. Unfortunately, this was a total disaster. The Wildburger was so dry that one could only eat a few bites with reluctance. Wilschweinsauerbraten: As the word says "sour" he should be, but he was not.
Portions sufficient, but that does not use anything.
All in all not recommended.

Nice hotel with exceptional spa area! For sauna lovers! The location is great and the food is good.

Nicely situated outside town in the forest, good restaurant, excellent spa and swimming pool.

The eastern counterpart to the Steigenberger Petersberg. Lived history, grandiose, truly grandiose food (especially the meat and venison dishes) and in winter an incredible snow oasis at the foot of the Thuringian forest.
The rooms are a bit frumpy, but the accommodation rates are very reasonable.

Great hotel, great service, very good gastronomy and above all a great bartender who does his job with heart and lots of wit and friendliness.
The spa area is great and really generous, massage and cosmetics are superb and equipped with savvy staff. The playroom offers something for every age and housekeeping does a great job.
The only criticism is the middle-aged lady at the front desk, who took our booking for the next year and over next years very unfriendly (in paper form) — after that, the confirmation was no longer consistent and one of the required suites was no longer Available. The lady had already lent to our private children's sled the day before and did not apologize to us. Luckily we were at the same time with the other family in front of the house and could clarify the matter ourselves.
Thanks to the very friendly and really great reception manager, nothing stands in the way of our renewed stay. He somehow makes everything possible and is like the rest of the staff gold right in his job.
We look forward to the next holiday full of relaxation!

Absolutely recommended for those who are looking for a place to relax and feel good and a starting point for great hikes! The rooms are very clean and well maintained, the staff courteous and friendly and the ambiance unique!

Had a wonderful Meal in the Restraunt. It is located in a very beautful location. My problem is the Bar was closed and they close the workout room at 10PM because you are not allowed to workout alone. This hotel is nice for a weekend away but I travel to Ilmenau 5 to 6 times a year and this hotel is not a good place to stay for business. I was looking forward to staying in this hotel for a few weeks. I will stay in town on my future visits.

Great hotel, absolutely quiet and ideally located as a starting point for hikes and winter sports. Great pool and spa. Only the food lacks something the spice.

We have spent a wonderful evening with our friends, the team of the hotel Gabelbach spoiled us from the beginning, the hotel manager greeted us with a good mulled wine, the house was beautifully lit and decorated, thick snowflakes rieselten from Heaven — In short, pure romance. The subsequent meal in the restaurant was a treat, the service absolutely excellent.
We slept very well and were very enthusiastic about the rich and very delicious breakfast.
Thanks to all the staff of the hotel Gabelbach, we enjoyed the time here very much.

Review for the restaurant The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and is stylishly furnished. The two out of five stars are there for the food and the waiters. I tried three dishes: hare liver (perfect), dumpling with spinach (unedible salt) and Rumpsteak (mieserable meat quality, waxing, full of cartilage and fat). The evaluation of the two (male) waiters lies somewhere between cheeky and outrageous, according to the viewer's taste. The terme and the hotel are great, but the restaurant doesn't go at all.

If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the place. A beautiful hotel in the middle of the Thuringian forest with a very good sauna area and swimming pool. Good food, nice rooms, very dog friendly hotel.

Very relaxed atmosphere paired with friendly staff. The cuisine is very flattering to the palate.
Conclusion:
Perfect for relaxing. Spacious spa area with various special offers. Finnish sauna in the Außenbeteich up to the low temp. Sauna and various massage programs. Very interesting for couples.
If the relaxation is too long, it will be a sporty start in the adjacent forest. Then there are wild hiking routes. Lots of fun is always guaranteed. We would love to come back.
Oh… And there's something for the kids. A big game room.
I couldn't do any photos. The Batschekästle was only in the room. Relaxation was announced. ;)
Nevertheless there was free Wi-Fi.

Excellent historic location to visit during your Thuringian Forest trip. We enjoyed the food (especially wild pork) and beer very much!

We celebrated our wedding on Gabelbach on 23.07.2016. After initial organizational difficulties, Ms. Onat was able to pull the cow off the ice again.
On 08.04.2017 a birthday party was planned. The celebration was great, the guests were in good spirits. The heating fan could not change this on the cold log cabin, which was rented for 2oo, — € expensively.
but:
Since February, parking fees have been charged for overnight guests, wellness ribbons associated with the room are only available on request, breakfast is only possible in stages for groups due to lack of space and ends at the latest at 9.3o o'clock. The waiters, not the kitchen, decide to fulfill the food requirements. Additional cleaning costs will be charged to the organizer and not to the guests. I wonder why I have to provide my data. Room rates agreed as a special price can also be obtained via various travel portals (? ).
On this day there were 4 celebrations at the same time, which unfortunately presented the hotel with big problems.
What a pity.
For the next upcoming celebration we probably have to look for a different location.

Breakfast 15 eur extremely overpriced.
But almost everything available, fairly Nutella also.
Wellness area with very nice, even bar to the food order.

Great Hotel, great location, price-performance is extremely good, chic new Spa area. Absolute recommendation, in a great location and landscape.
