Small but clean rooms (at least), they're old looking, just like the whole hotel itdelf and should be refreshed. I might have been unlucky but I found very unfriendly and unpolite réception personnel. 3 stars? Maybe 10 years ago…

Located near the station. Small room with carpeted floors. Furnishing not the most modern. Friendly service.

We were 3 nights in the old guard. Single rooms are very small, double rooms very generous. Staff always friendly and accommodating. Breakfast buffet always fresh and regularly replenished. In the vicinity of the train station, Parking is available for a fee. For us the perfect Hotel for a city trip.

Staff are very friendly, the restaurant is instagramable, excellent breakfast, great internet, but since it is located at downtown, I wouldn't recommend for those whose like a quiet place. Price wise a bit expensive for its minimalist room, but hey the wall is cemented bricks with wooden ornament makes it has a vintage look and cozy, compared with those 4 stars hotels which has hardboard wall that makes me hear 'strange' noises. Otherwise than small room, it is a nice place to stay overnight.

A hotel with light and shade. The rooms have the best year behind them. The single rooms are rather small chambers. The price-performance ratio is rather moderate. The food is superb. The location of the hotel is great.

I was in the old guard for the first time last October. I'm happy all around. The location is ideal for the central station. Reception is manned 24 hours. The single room was a little small but adequate and very clean. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. I have booked for May again here.

Pleasant distance to the nearby main railway station. Reception is open for 24h. Room and (in particular) bed quite small, but sufficient for a stay of two days.

Looking for a single weekend stay in Hamburg? Well, this hotel may suffice. It's not that big nor complex, but is near Hauptbanhof and you can reach almost everything by foot. Small and practical, this hotel is a little bit expensive, but is also clean and comfortable for just a couple of days.

The access to the hotel is problematic. You have to go to the Parkhof again a big lap.
The service staff is very friendly.
The reception and the farewell at the reception rather "monosyllabic". No help.
Breakfast and other food good and inexpensive.
The bar closes at midnight.
The night porter barely speaks if anything wants to ask.
You have to pay extra for a double slice of bread as travel provisions.
The environment of the hotel outside stands out considerably from the other good impression of the city.

Nice and clean. Close to shopping area.

Nice central hotel. Within walking distance of the main station. Friendly helpful staff and lovely breakfast. Fast Wi-Fi in the rooms as well as modern TV and bathrooms.

I noticed that the lock of my luggage was manipulated and the reception was so angry and told me that their staff won't do such things. Very nice hotel.

Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet, Nahe am Hauptbahnhof. Die Zimmer sehen i. O. Aus (nur etwas altmodisch eingerichtet), allerdings ist das kleine Bad und vor allem die Dusche eine Katastrophe. Mit dem Service hatte ich nicht viel zu tun.

I was with my wife on new year's Eve 2015/2016 there. It was a beautiful hotel with very friendly and occurring Personal. Das breakfast was very good and the room totally clean!

The proximity to the main station. Is very well suited to the city with U & S-Bahn to explore. The rooms are very clean and have (with air conditioning) all the necessary comfort. In the summer it may perhaps be a little uncomfortable. The Breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired (very good) the staff is very friendly and helpful. Would use this Hotel gladly book again!

Had a single room to the quiet courtyard. Room very clean, bed comfortable. The bathroom is new, so nothing to complain about. The staff is very friendly and helpful, as was e. G. A Fahrradunterstellplatz organized. Rich and varied buffet Breakfast with attentive staff. Due to the proximity to the main station, I could in the lobby of the hotel is still a very good Espresso to me. The price for the room was also reasonable, so overall, everything was very satisfactory and recommend. Will book there again when I'm in Hamburg.

It should be through the on side towards prasentierten premises (reception, restaurant, bar) do not be fooled, the rooms correspond to this first impression is not.

My friend and I have a 4-day city break and have made us for hotel alte wache was chosen because it is simple and super centrally located. The staff, and is totally friendly and the Breakfast you can also enjoy. There are of fresh fruit to hot scrambled eggs, really, everything. Our room is clean, the bathroom is updated and the beds are also very comfortable. The only thing really to be desired are the TV ('80s-tube tv) and the furniture (that could even before the world war, have been there). But all in all a great hotel, if you explore the city wants to ;).
