Reviews of MEININGER Hotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof
Centrality. In 20 minutes from the airport by direct train. It's a dream. Close to everything. With transportation everywhere. Very clean. Good beds. Good shower. Don't make a sound.
Super central location. Super… everything easy to reach … eat top, room ok… recommended again and again for a long weekend 👍🏻
Everything it okay for me, food, location, transportation, people so nice. Just have 2 think 🤔 I'm not ok with that.
1. In the room it so hot 🥵 and when I ask about a fan. Need to pay 10 Euro for the and will got that back when check out. But the day I check out seen like don't know will give 10 Euro to me or not.
2. The day will check out. Your hotel tell need to check out before 11 am. So I think around 10:30 am I will leave but around 10:10 am have some person open my room before I check out. WTF! you make me scared a bit. So after that I go to check out. Do like that like you need to kick me out of your hotel before.
Close very close train station and very nice staff.
Class City Hotel was wonderfully centrally located at the Meininger Hotel. Always happy.
So I was there with my daughter for 3 nights for a small city trip and I would go back to Meininger! We had room 437 it was just right for our purposes! The hotel has a top location and the staff there is super nice and accommodating. We were there two hours before check-in and were able to move into our room already! It was very clean there and although we first thought it was going to be loud because the station was right next to it we didn't hear anything from the train traffic! The breakfast was for the price top I already had hotels with 3* that did not offer such a breakfast! Of course, there are many people on the way especially at breakfast but quite honestly who wants to have peace at breakfast should not settle down in a city hotel We will definitely see each other again.
A nice and not expensive hotel. The central STATION DB is easily accessible by transport. Near the stop with tourist buses. Near the city centre, cycling is a quick ride to the Reichstag from the hotel, renting a bike for 12 euros.
Our overall experience was good! The room was small but perfect for the price and to stay in a city, very nice bathroom but it was about 35-40 degrees in the room during the night. Obviously Northern Europe is not very used to these crazy summers but I suggest an airconditioning system in the rooms!
Great location being 2 minutes walk or less from Berlin station. We were there after two weeks of plus 35 degrees weather so it was very warm in the room overnight. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean.
Happy place with youngsters always humming around. A good vibe. More of a hostel than hotel. Location very central. Close to Berlin central railway station. Rooms very small but cosy. Communal kitchen free to use for all. Overall an affordable place. Happy and Helpful staff. Cheers!
Terrible hotel. Spent the night one night, booked a three-bed room, for two adults and a child. Got a room 3 on 3 meters where there were two two-storey beds, I would call it a closet, not a room. There was no place to even open the suitcase. The demand to give us the room we booked the answer was that there were no others. Why we have to sleep in the closet. It sat in the basement, there was no air conditioning in the room, the outside temperature was 35 degrees, in the room on the 8th floor the temperature was at least 32. Open window did not help, and it went directly to the main station of Berlin, the feeling as if slept at the station, the child could not sleep in such a noise. And by the way the mattress was no better than a station bench, as if the springs were covered with a sheet. And all this for not a little money, having paid 80 euros we spent the night in inhuman conditions, did not sleep and the next day was spoiled. Bypass this barracks if you want to spend the night in a hotel, not in a hostel.
You'd better stay at a hotel located somewhat away from the main station rather than this Meininger hotel. Especially, this hotel neither has an air conditioning system, nor a good air circulation structure in the room. That means, it would be too hot so that you might hardly sleep during the summer season. Also, this hotel should be called as a hostel, since the level of the facilities there are similar with that of a normal hostel. This hotel should be rated 2 star, it is not worth to be 3 star. You can find at least a 4 star hotel with the same cost if you are willing to take about 20 minutes tram, bus or subways. Not recommended.
For its price a great hotel. Breakfast could have been better.
We have a wonderful 3 night stays at Meininger Hotel during the summer. The room was well-ventilated with the window open wide. The location is perfect. We saved a lot of traveling time. This Hotel is recommended and we shall come back again. The only unsatisfactory is that the lobby is always very crowded and noisy but it's okay. :)
Room was good, clean and comfortable. It has no air-conditioning tho and it got really really hot at night. The elevators are freaking stupid, they just don't stop at your door even if you pressed the button long ago. Plus often only one of the elevators is moving, making you wait for ages or just taking the stairs. You also don't have that lock that you can only open from inside, to lock out maid service.
This hotel has comfortable beds and a friendly staff. They could have used a couple more people to help what seemed like a very over worked staff but they were professional and courteous. It's also right next to the train station for ease of travel. Two major qualms. The fan unit in my 8th floor room was not enough to cool the room which made for hot and/or noisy nights with the window open. And two they advertised a roof top bar, but it was not open AND they would not let us take drinks from the bottom bar up or bring in outside drinks. Very young crowd (16 to 22) and families (all ages). Which can be a positive or negative depending on how you travel. Solid three stars.
The hotel is perfectly soundproofed and ideal for Berlin location for any purpose. The contingent is mixed, the alcohol in the rooms is forbidden, which is very good.
First time in this hotel, great impression, very close to Central station, very quiet, friendly staff…
Great reviews.
Great location. It was super busy while I was there (seemed to be some school trip or so) so my room got upgraded for free from a dormitory to a single room. Great location next to the City Central train station. And great views from the rooftop.
Cheap Hotel, central location absolutely great to move around easily. 100 metres from Central station.
We got stuck in Berlin when we missed a connecting flight, but found this hotel to a very reasonable price at 9pm. The location was great, and very easy to get to from the airport. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet, the staff friendly, and the breakfast nice. We didn't have the chance to use the common facilities, but the kitchen looked great! It's definitely a place we'll consider for our next (planned) trip to Berlin.
Being so close to the central station, it allows you to travel all over Berlin without any problems. Highly recommended to spend a day in Berlin.
Simple but good. Have complained about the volume of the neighbors, was fixed immediately. Class.
For a budget hotel it was excellent.
Varied breakfast.
One block from the train station, perfect for those of you who travel in Europe that way.
I like to go to a meininger again and again.
Nice solid hotels.
Good enough for a weekend.
Friendly check-in — overall good again.
Many noisy children and teenagers at breakfast… for peace seekers This is rather not recommended.
Our stay has been nice, it is true that the room was very small but we could be OK. The hotel is in an unbeatable location, Super Central, very well connected to the airport and with all the important places to visit. The proximity of Hauptbahnhof Central Station helps a lot in meals, shopping and transportation.
We would have needed a table a little bigger and another seat, because there were only 3 and there were 4 and a little cleaning of the floor but otherwise we liked it.
The staff of the hotel have been friendly.
The first day we had an evacuation notice, at 9am and the beeper, it was not said in Spanish, maybe it could be a suggestion. They never explained to us what happened and we got a big scare, we went down all from our last floor with all urgency, not knowing what had happened. The firefighters came. This happened on March 29, 2018 and we would have liked to know what happened, because the lack of information made us fear that it would happen again.
Yes Repetiríamos in this hotel and in another hotel of the same chain also.
Good day, very good dealing with all of the employees of the reception, always smiling and eager to solve the problems… except the manager, who has "visited" our room after 4 days without service, and said that everything was within the expected conditions, that the people who deal with the cleaning of the rooms does not have permission to upload to make the raised beds because they are dressed (? ) the toilette was not done ever, not even then gathered the papers thrown away or on the table, during the entire stay they did two times the low beds and by the middle… the room very nice and in good condition, except the mattress of one of the beds that we left the springs and we were able to change after 2 nights of sleep as well… a shame! the breakfast very good, varied and at a good price and the same with the bicycle service, very good. I'm sorry to say, but honestly we will not return to stay in this hotel.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Very good clean and very nice staff very central.
Minimalist Hotel. The only bad thing is that there was a lot of study trip for young people and the truth… they did not let rest.
Room not as advertised when viewed and booked online. Picture there was not of any room they had to offer at the Berlin location. Room too hot to sleep, they had no alternate facility for us, said they fixed the heat issue. As no alternate we cut our stay short by 3 days, no sleep, could not spend days touring. That night also too hot, very little sleep. Looking for refund as holidays are not cheap and this stay took two days plus another day of travel from us.
I was here again three days. And I was thrilled by everything. In the house it was quiet — even at night. The breakfast was delicious, the staff was great, and the room was clean.
Now I'm looking forward to September, because I'll be back to the marathon again for 3 days. See you!
Centrally located, well connected, practical and economical (looking in time). At the entrance there is a children's ball pool which helps a lot to entertain the kids when traveling with them. They also have common-use cooking.
I was with my class on a course trip in Berlin and for that the hotel Meininger is great. It is very convenient for Berlin and also offers a lot. The rooms are small but still good. For the price the hotel business is great and recommended. Most of all the good connection to the (near-/Fern-) traffic is very good.
This is the closest to a real hostel I've ever been in. Why not real? Well, there are rooms like a hotel with their own bathrooms, but with two bunk beds rather than double fulls or one queen. You have to put your key card into a slot on the wall to get the lights to come on (are squatters a problem? ) and the lobby tends to be full of 20-something backpackers. Oh, and the door knob fell off the bathroom door. Otherwise it's just your average hotel. It IS pretty inexpensive to be just a few short steps from the Berlin Central Station. Considering our first B&B in Prague (5 flights up with no elevator and a gas heater that stopped working the moment the landlady left) one could do much worse.
The hotel is a hundred meters from the central station.
It is a factory with groups of young people who are very noisy, even at night.
My room is very small and very expensive.
The breakfast is very large and the dining room is very crowded.
On the ground floor, around the reception there is a space for small children, a small billiards, a dab, a small bar, a room with lockers.
Wi-Fi can be used without a code.
We were in this hotel for 5 days and we definitely enjoyed it. Very low price in proportion to the area and convenient location to Central station. Accurate and punctual service. Reception with hours continued also during the night and very helpful to help.
Good hotel… at The side of the central station of Berlin, so that makes it easy to arrive… Besides, it is close to everything.
Clean, private bathroom with lots of hot water. Beds we're okay. Could hear a bit through the walls, not a lot just muffled noises. Breakfast was okay. Location was great right outside train station so not far to go with luggage and was a short walk from multiple Subway stations. For the price point I'd stay here again.
First, the hygiene of my room was unreasonable.
Second, one could certainly eat the food of the previous occupants of the room under the bed.
Finally, the pace of the lift is so slow that a paraplegic man would be twice faster on the 6 floor if he used the stairs as a normal one to use the elevator.
Delicious breakfast and good, though not very spacious room furnishings. There are 2 elevators that bring the visitors to the attic. From the attic you have a great view of Berlin, for example you can see the Reichstag and the central station, which is located next to the hotel. The noise nuisance is tolerable despite the nearby central station.
We already travelled at 06:00 pm although we could only get into the room at 15:00 pm, but pre check in and suitcase storage was no problem! Nice and friendly staff. When we were able to get into the room, we had a smell of freshly cleaned. The day after, we found a rich & fresh Früshtsücksbuffet, which was unbeatable for its price.
The location is more than excellent, next to the Berlin Central station and 10 minutes walk from the Reichstag and the Brandenburg gate. Rooms are correct and clean. The hotel has a terrace to the public with beautiful views of Berlin. As a negative aspect is that sometimes reception becomes saturated and you may have to wait a good while. And the breakfast was something just at the level of variety for the price it has. When without hesitation!
The single room is very small but modern furnished and clean. You have everything you need. Perfect for a short trip in Berlin, also with the location. It is cleaned daily and towels are changed if you like. The breakfast buffet has Jugendherbergenflair, but I perfectly fine for the price. There are mainly young guests there. It was my third stay, that says it all. ;)
The hotel is next to the main station, so perfect for all types of visit. The sight is great and all the rooms have big windows to look outside. Clean, hot water (always welcome in very cold days! ) and available staff. The only thing: think about having double bed in family rooms, not only bunkbeds! Thank you, it was great overall.
Amazing place : Budget friendly We booked a quadruple room. The room was small but was clean. In the price segment I can say that one of the best rooms you can get. They have common kitchen which you can use to prepare your meals. They serve nice breakfast too. The staff is very understanding and polite. Highly recommended on Budget place to live in Berlin.
It's amazing the good vibes that exists between the place to be! Great location, great price, and a family place, with space to wash your clothes, stewing. It has a bar, a pool table and board games. Located opposite the central station, where not only you need all the metros and trains, but also the super, places to eat or buy things. The rooms are small but comfortable, clean.
The best thing is the location, being next to the central station, makes it very easy to transfer. Very comfortable and well heated. The breakfast is very good, although it is paid separately (€6.90).
This place offers fantastic value for money! Perfect location too. Good service. Good quality. Sometimes, there are too many youngsters inside, but is it too bad?! Not at all if you hadn't had already enough of your life ;) A downside for someone: there are no fridges in the rooms. No safes either.
Hotel located near the central station of Berlin. I liked the kindness of the staff, the proximity to the station and the metro and the simplicity of the room comfortable for boys (there are two beds joined by Mo ' Matrimonial, a stick to attravercare jackets and the useless TV). The new bathroom is equipped with all the necessary also the soap for the hands and the phone. I did not like the pillows, almost non existent dishes and the little cleanliness of the room and the bathroom: the women only changed the towels and they gave a clean with the broom (I recommend to throw the dirty towels on the ground if they want them to be changed, as one day Not having done it the cleaning women left the dirty ones). All in all great room; Great prices — breakfast not included in 6. €90.
Excellent care, located a few steps from the underground station, very good location, the room very clean and in oerfectas conditions, the breakfast is buffet costs 6, 90 euros, maybe not so cheap but you eat to fill you and is pretty full.
The staff are very nice and very helpful. Breakfast is good for the price. Our room was… I say live. The ventilation was not working, an outlet was defective and in the bathroom there were small black spots on the silicone. To spend a night here it is absolutely sufficient if it should be a longer holiday I would recommend a different accommodation, especially if you are travelling with children.
Welcoming. Open 24h-24h. Comfortable and tactical. Very nice and friendly Staff. There are many services and leisures. Common halls. Young people and No. Really very useful also the info area for the city.
Small, claustrophobic and dirty rooms.
Staff in rude reception.
Rooms are not very well equipped There is not even the closet, but only a mensoletta where there are a couple of clothes to the maximum.
One day they did not do housekeeping but only changed the towels.
Little clarity about the services offered, while booking was marked the included breakfast, instead they asked €7 apiece.
We booked a double room and were given a room with 2 separate single beds.
Uncomfortable beds and worn pillows.
They pretend to be a Hotel but in truth it is a hostel with increased prices.
Unsatisfactory value for money.
It can be good for kids.
Not recommended for families and the elderly.
Only good thing is the great location, right in the center and close to the Hautbahnof station, where to find all the means of transport: trains, Metro and taxi.
We were very comfortable with two adults and two older teens in the quadruple room. It was small, but fit us and our luggage easily. The room was clean and looked to be newly renovated. Breakfast was good value. The washing machine was the only down side, as was the drier, which took ages to dry clothes. We made do with hanging the damp washing in our room.
This hostel is really great by it's location, just within 5 minutes walk from the central station, and walk to all the tourist spot, I went by walk and it's just like 20 to 30 minutes. The room is clean, environment is good, and service is nice as well. Strongly recommend this one.
Great Disappointment! The room is smaller than a dog kennel! We are in 3 and we can not even move! There is also a closet. Not even the towels have replaced us, I had to go to the front desk to give them clean… I will not get there but more foot.
If you are over 25 years old or not in cheap tourist mode to avoid. Only advantage close to the train station. I booked it at a peak of attendance in Berlin bad pick: (
This price range is no bigger. We had the getting there in the room. Unfortunately, the coffee machine was out of service for 2 days. Breakfast simple but adequate. Due to the many young guests, the breakfast room was quite noisy (is certainly in parenting).
Very good location on the side of the central station of Berlin. Just minutes from the district government and the Branderburger Tör. You can walk to virtually all the main sights of Berlin from here. Pieces comfortable and full breakfast. The only thing that is falling is in the common spaces, only has a pool table, which is poorly located, because you can not play comfortably.
The beds are uncomfortable, wooden boards just a mattress placed on it, totally full, loud. Rooms extremely small for 3 people. Sting up at breakfast to get a seat, also sporadically. So the money wasn't worth it. Really what kind of young people and young people.
For a short trip to Berlin by train absolutely okay. Inexpensive, sufficiently well equipped and fairly clean. Staff friendly. Breakfast is inexpensive and delicious. Young and young, young audiences will feel comfortable. And from the outside, the construction still looks nicer than the expensive hotels next door.
Booked this place because it was so close to the main train station (and it is! SO close) but ended up getting in at the bus station. Even then, wasn't too complicated getting there. Had a really late check in and reasonably late check out and staff were great at every encounter. They were quick to show me how to get places and what to see, I was able to leave my bag all day after checking out to get to the airport that night. Rooms were clean. Literally can't find anything negative about this place, it was really good.
Friendliness on arrival and departure at reception. Zimmer was beautifully designed.
Now to the unpleasant part of the assessment. There is a lack of German-speaking well-understood, so my question was not answered on the first evening.
The situation in the morning at normal breakfast time, I put it on the run. Such a mess. Maybe I'm too spoiled. And with the excuse Hotel was fully or almost fully occupied, no one needs to come, I have already experienced enough 4 and 5 star hotels in Germany and abroad and nowhere was such a mess. Hotel should be marked as a youth hotel, but not as a normal hotel. I will certainly not stay with you again.
Cleanliness in the bathroom, especially the toilet (deposits). Bed towel had by washing residues (dark spots). Dust lay. Mattress passed through, I had back pain so I couldn't sleep through a night or got up early.
For these reasons, the price — performance ratio is inappropriately significantly too high for 2 nights 238, €700 without breakfast!.
Parties with some fear for the reviews read. Instead we found a cozy hotel with spotless room and bathroom and equipped with towels. The only drawback is the lack at breakfast of hot milk and croissants.
We were unlucky, there is a group of teenager stay in the same level. You can imagine how is the noise. And without proper sound proof, we can hear everything. But I still feel that I get what I paid, even I think it's possible to get better bed with that price. Nice hotel for young people who travel in thight budget. But if you can afford more, it's better to go to better hotel. Not recommended for family with younger kids.
Good service, great location, good facilities, the only detail is the comfort of the extra bed, I would certainly return to stay at this hotel.
I was happy with the accommodation. From the main train station you can walk. My room and the kitchen were clean. I was able to use the internet. I only missed one coffee maker.
Staff was very welcome and helpful. Location is good — it's like 20 meters from main rail station, and you can get anywhere from there with public transport. Reichstag is in 5 minutes walking distance. Room was really small. No safe box, no mini-fridge. For some reason, you are not allowed to bring alcohol in hotel (even if you don't intend to drink it). We get it there anyway (in backpack), but still it is a really odd rule. Surroundings is really noisy (you won't be able to sleep with open windows and room didn't have AC, only fan).
We have stayed in Meininger hotels before and generally always been happy. Sadly this time it was not so good… we paid €150 for a double room for one night. The room was so small we could not even open our suitcases. For that much money I would at least expect a little more space to move, and perhaps a kettle and tea etc in the room. If it had been cheaper I wouldn't have cared, but I don't feel our room was worth the money we paid. General hotel and breakfast was good.
The location was excellent! right outside the train station and hop on hop off tour buses. staff was efficient, friendly and accommodating! prompt service too! rooms are clean if a bit on the small side but layout was great! breakfast was ok. overall experience was very satisfactory. Will definitely consider to stay in another one of your hotels in the future! thank you for making our trip memorable!
Extremely convenient location right next to the central train station and a short walk from many sights. Staff are friendly and efficient. Big, comfortable common area with bar and small play area for kids. Buffet breakfast available and it was excellent. Laundry facilities also available. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Hotel Central, well connected, clean, friendly staff, very close to Central station, but the area unlike other cities is safe, from our room there was also a nice view.
I stayed at the hotel with 3 others and we found the room very comfortable and practical. The location of the hotel is great as it is right outside the central station of Berlin and there are also tour buses parked right outside the hotel, so a trip into the city is easy too. If you are looking for somewhere that has a party atmosphere I would not recommend this hotel however in terms of practicality and comfort, it's great.
… the rooms are very small and the family option fails because couples must still sleep in bunks! At A&O Hostels this is not the case! One of the reading lights didn't work and it was never repaired, I asked 3 times and we stayed a whole six days. The guest kitchen was very good however not well equipped, sometimes we had to share glasses or wait. The kids bed were not made twice and I had to soak with the cleaner personally. Not the best place on earth but reasonably clean, cleaner than other places and the bathroom was good. The kids area was great!
Very expensive, probably because of the football game played in the weekend. The room was very small and the price was very good.
The location is perfect, a stone's throw from the main station of the city. Great view from the room, especially at night, with illuminated night Berlin. The hotel has the essentials, the kitchen could improve but all in all the service is good.
Basic and essential Hotel but very functional, clean, cheap, perfect location since it is exactly next to Central station and then into Centrissimo. It is frequented a lot by young people but this does not affect the service. I would definitely stay here again.
From a tourist city like Berlin, you expect a quality welcome. But not a smile. Receptionist rude And if by mistake you did not understand an info they repeat it by weighing the thing. We also slept in the facility near the airport, same thing! They don't look like the reception professionals. You have to do the beds! Luckily the rooms are clean! I that I deal with tourist reception are very disappointed!
Sher nettes personal aktzeptable preise an der bar und saubere zimmer.
Nothing fancy. Do NOT buy anything from the lobby fridge, especially the absurdly-priced booze. Generally used A LOT by high schools so if you're not down to see hordes of teens wearing the same sweaters/t-shirts, you might want to try another hotel. Highly convenient location though. So weigh your options.
The rooms are too small and it is not very negative, the rising of the window and a big Problem is worked in the upper floors, the air-conditioning (ventilation), as in my case, what I was confirmed by friends who also had a room.
Excellent location, near central station of the Metro, as well as keeping the clean rooms and with the indispensable minimum.
The internet signal is clean and fast.
The hotel I liked much, though not the always long queues in front of the reception. Lacking a third man at the front desk. TV in room did not work. Rental bicycle in front of the hotel was great, just the stand down was hanging and the man at the bar could give me no simple tool. Again long line at the front desk for easy exchange. Single room small but functional. Station durekt opposite, Government District next to it.
Location very good. Near central station. Stayed in twin room, which was very ok. Very popular with the youths. Can sometimes be a little noisy.
100 Euro for a Room in the First Floor looking on Taxis. I asked the staff to Change it but they werent able or rather willing to help me. I was really angry to Pay so much Money! I wont Come again with my colleagues.
Great hotel. Drinks and continental breakfast were great. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Rooms were pretty small and so was the TV. But not a problem for the short stay I had.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, even if it's just where we're living a second home. They reveal a consistently high standard, the hotel and rooms are very clean, the bed was very comfortable. A television, Wi-Fi, Breakfast, a variety of choices. The hotel location is very convenient, from Berlin Hauptbahnhof and that is, that the tourist bus station very close, staff very happy to help. All this let us live here feel very comfortable, very enjoy.
Room small as the prison cell of Ully HöNess in the correctional facility
Landsberg, is really only necessary…
POSITIVE: the good lage… sehr Central.
The staff are professional undkompetent.
Extremely unfriendly booking service. For clubs, the no credit cards and no Paypal, is a Fix-booking is not possible. Sofort banking is offered, then at the time of booking, but again not possible, instead, Giropay, that most banks will not accepted, including the DB. Also on the phone was the cheaper Fix-booking is not possible.
Positive, Very good location. Negative, 124€ for a double room the size of a closet (slightly exaggerated). And the quality of the furniture is also for 3* is not acceptable. Mattresses are spring mounted, I had not a long time. In addition, this house has in my opinion nothing to do with a Hotel to do, but is actually a Hostel. So price/performance 0* and if the price after the demand is directed, it is a pure rip-off. Room No. 837
Nice hotel. Near train station, bus stop. From Tegel airport, 30-40 minutes by public transport. Rooms fairly quiet, although near the station.
Cheap, close to the central station.
Friendly reception; open discussion and questions according to the Wishes of the guest; good Handling wg. Wi-Fi (Info directly at the counter in a basket to be seen) ; car Parking available; price/performance = good; 'm not sure whether there is a Safe there; but have also not sought after and in demand.
I had a weekend stay at Meininger Hotel am Hauptbahnhof in Berlin. The location is really good, as the public transport reaches the Central station (Hauptbahnhof) from both airports and obviously the train, also the station has many restaurants, farmacies, etc, which open early to late, so very convenient! The checking in and payment process was smooth and fast, the staff friendly and helpful. The room was very basic but modern, clean and practical, with a good mattress. It is small but perfect to sleep and shower. You may find that the guests at the hotel may be in their early twenties and therefore a bit noisy, but I think that the insolation of the rrooms was pretty good. They also have a shared kitchen area, washing and drying machines and a lounge, although these were so crowded at the time of my stay that I didn´t even bother staying there for a drink or breakfast, but this still is very positive as you have services that you wouldn´t find elsewhere, especially a standard hotel!
I was slightly hesitant following my booking of this hotel as I read through the reviews which weren't too complimentary. However I was pleasantly surprised as the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was clean, fresh sheets and towels and despite looking over the train station we heard no noise. HOWEVER, the hotel had renovation work ongoing, which apparently meant power drills constantly from 7am! So no need to set our alarm. We were on the 8th floor and the noise was so bad, our room was vibrating that we thought it was happening on the floor above however as we went down the lift it got louder and they seemed to be working on the 5th or 6th floor so goodness knows how loud it was for those residents! There were notices up in the hotel to note "improvement work" however nothing in relation to the noise disruption. Although I wouldn't stay again, I would recommend the hotel as somewhere cheap, accessible and in a great location however I would suggest contacting them ahead of your stay to check for any further renovation work!
Once and never again. Several times in the Morning (6 am) was started by extremely loud drilling. Not only could one with such a noise would not sleep more, but couldn't talk and got after some time of headache, because the noise over one hour continuously dragged on. As you look now with a variety of other guests complained, we got only one brazen staffer of the hotel to hear that the night's sleep only until 6 p. M. Would. The volume of construction work on a deafening level that took place seemed not to disturb you. So something goes in my eyes not just when you are actually in search of peace and relaxation.
I was here as a Renovierarbeiten were made. It's understandable, but as I to 6 o'clock in the morning was awakened by a Bohrgeräusch that is so loud, that you hardly talk to, I eventually lost my nerve. At the reception, I wanted to complain, but the assistant is very rude, you on my complaint snappishly replied, " If your house is being renovated they have early start and by 6 is, after all, not sleep more. " I was not the Only one to complain wanted, there were a lot of other guests in the Lobby, which is also from the noise were awakened around 6 am in the MORNING! In the rooms it was unbearable because it was so loud and that's why I also only have a star to give, I would prefer to have even none at all.
Since we knew that not everybody in Germany spoke English we prepared ourselves for a creative German conversation. Gladly the English of the personnel who helped us was nearly, this helped us understanding how everything worked in the hotel and smoothed it up. When we arrived at the room we were happily surprised, it was a nice room and we even had somewhere to sit. The only bad thing was that two times in a row only 2 beds were made sleep ready and we definitely had the room booked for 3 people. Gladly we are all adults and could fix this by ourselves. The room was hygienic and clean, the shower was good enough for the price we paid. Everything was quite normal and we could ask what we needed at the reception. They gave us a map of Berlin and that also helped out eventually, would maybe nice to have this map standard since not everybody asks for it. When we arrived in the middle of the night it was no problem and we could easily get in our room, at the Sunday we wanted to check out around 11 o'clock, this was no problem and when I asked for the locker place we got a card for a locker room. This was the reason that I think it was good instead of satisfactory. This was the pleasant surprise factor and something that really came in handy since we wanted to visit some places in Berlin after checking out. When we came back we could get our luggage and leave the hotel. Great visit and I'll mostly come back once again.
We, two students with correspondingly little income, wanted to Berlin together to make unsafe. It was important for us that the Hotel is centrally located and you feel comfortable. This was definitely the case. We especially liked the Lobby area and the kitchen, which we used daily. The Hotel was bright and inviting and we felt very comfortable there. The only drawback would be the cleanliness. We still have some dust bunnies seen. And also the room could have been a Tick bigger, because we have not had the opportunity, our bags completely unpacked. I recommend the Hotel but definitely next and I'm happy again.
The room was a disaster. The were rubish behind the matress. The bathroom wasn 't properly cleaned before our en trance (there were full of hairs a shit in the corners) Definetly our experience wasn't the best. The only positive point was the fantástico situation.
Very good Hotel right next to the main train station. Rooms are clean and pleasantly quiet. The Breakfast buffet is for a 3 star house is also alright. The only thing that bothered was the attendance of young people and children at Breakfast. The background noise was so loud, that the Breakfast is not really able to enjoy and was happy with the Breakfast to leave — Jugendherbergeniveau.
I was with friends three days in Berlin and we were looking for a centrally located Hotel for the city tour. The Hotel is located directly at the train station, so Bus and train easily in the whole city. For 6.90 euros you get a really good and complete Breakfast. Specifically had raised me, that there are very many different Brötchenarten gave. Also in the selection of the tea was to notice that the Hotel guests would like to do => Dallmeier tea in different varieties. Super! Check-in was quick and friendly, room very clean and in mint condition. Note to the Breakfast room: Approximately 75% (felt, not counted) children and adolescents in the School — accordingly, it is very loud and makes you feel more like in a hostel than in a Hotel. At night it was quiet and you could easily sleep.
Triple room reserved > quadruple room with two bunk beds! Our room in the 7 floor was cleaned but not clean! Tassenränder on the table and water stains in the bathroom on the Bodenfließen. The mattresses were sags!
+ Great location + Inerior looks good — I was given wrong room (and they knew it at reception desk they are giving me worse then oredered room), it was really annoying to go to 8th floor, back, get the right room and go to 7th floor when you arrive at midnight and want to go sleep… no matter that this approach is totaly unproffesional form the staff… trying guests what they accept… — It was very cold in the room and no heater there, just AC which didnt really heated — Bad was porly done, I wasnt sure if actually sheets aren the same from previous guests… = if you charge 120 EUR per night without breakfast… this is very poor service for the money…
Unfortunately were the rooms very small and still quite dirty. We have of the Hotel is not so much expected, because it's just not a 5 * Hotel, but cleanliness can probably be in the category of expected. The staff were partly friendly, but also partly rather unfriendly. On the concern that our TV is broken was not even responding, only in the other hook up they asked us a late Check out and promised to repair till the next day. Unfortunately, this is nothing and you gave us a new room (4-bed 3-bed), which, however, was very small. (we were 3. But had the extra one 4-bedded room booked, since the rooms are very small looking). The Breakfast buffet is worth more not able to you can also good elsewhere for the money have Breakfast. (Dry bread and a very small selection) The mattresses were unfortunately also quite sags. We have for the money already other, much better Hotels booked.
Had been a total of three days at the Washingtonplatz to do, meanwhile we are a part of our Produktionsfahrzeuge in Agnes Zahn-Harnack-Straße abparkten. All friendly staff/inside of the Hostels we came here very well, in addition to the Toilettenbenutzung for our film crew was there, even off-peak electricity for the fridge our catering, just like that, class.
First you let me pay 310 euro for a noise and really small room, maybe 6 meter. There was no service at the hotel and the ones who were wasn't nice at all. 3 am they start to clean the food court and wake me up, I felt it was on purpose because nobody can make so much noise. Until I herd that an other gust asked for some silence and they start clean it normally. It was around 5 am. I had blood on my sheets, not my blood. And they couldn't even give me the "do not disturb" thing to put on the door because they hadn't in stock so the cleaning lady just stepped inside and wak me up. I'm a good visiter and coming to Berlin 3 times a year. I'll never forgets the two wrong night I had with you. Sorry but it's the true.
+. Very friendly staff, good connection to public TRANSPORT, room was cleaned every day, the possibility of Kofferaufbewahrung after the check-out, well-functioning Wi-Fi (no bandwidth issues) — narrow, stuffy rooms without air-conditioning, ventilation function, thus we were forced, at night the window open, which in turn at the main station a noise problem with; too long waiting times at the Lift, upper beds were not obtained, this task should not be due to the lower height of the housekeeping staff to the guest are imposed on you (very unprofessional! ) To your question below regarding re-booking/recommendation: Meininger Hotels basically Yes, meininger Berlin Hauptbahnhof-no!
The hotel was very well located, but the room was too hot to sleep in! With an open window you still get no air but a lot of noise! So we couldn't get any sleep during the night. So please consider investing into air conditioning, or just close the hotel during the hot summer weeks. It is a pity, since the location, price and the general concept is very well thought.
1. ) The reception folks were friendly, communicable and very informative about Berlin! They even let me check-in earlier as the room was already ready. 2. ) The location! It was so convenient for me as I travelled by rail and also had to leave the city by rail very early in the morning. It saved me from having to worry about getting to the station as it's literally just next door. 3. ) The rooms are very nice. Hotel level I must say. Linens, towels, bodywash etc, all provided. Definitely worth the money, so long as you book early :) It was a nice break from the previous hostel in another city I stayed in. Glad to have gotten some long awaited rest here. Will definitely stay here again next time im in berlin!
Excelent hostel. Good localization, and a good value for money rate.
So, the location is very Central and the Whole thing is very stylish. Unfortunately hears the Positive here on, unfriendly ladies at the reception, a ventilation their Job qutitiert had (at 35 degrees) and slices of which I Next thought it was Milchglasscheiben, in fact, they were just very dirty, are only the beginning. I can unfortunately the Hotel recommend and as a tip, take your own hair dryer with the existing one does not work either. Lg.
Pros: close to the central station of berlin. Neg: Small rooms; Not family friendly, could not place a crib in the room. Very noisy. Room didn't feel clean. Had to make my own bed. No towels in the room when we arrived. There is room for service improvement. Btw, no AC! Room get hot during the summer days.
After traveling 20 days for Europe, we came to this hotel that could qualify as the WORST hotel!. The rooms are ridiculously small, you don't have air conditioning in summer (37), the floor of the rooms in old wood, scratched, dirty. The hotel is very poorly maintained and does not make arrangement of the rooms and change of towels. We found hairs in the beds and in the bathroom. The glass of the shower dirty and you could tell that there had washing. Nothing to see the photos you have on the internet with reality. To see all of this, we made the claim in the reception and the response was "no you can't run the wall of the room" and they would not even check the toilet. We requested a room change at reception, but the people who attend are quite unpleasant and complacent. I contacted the customer service via the internet and I responded that talked about there, that they could not do anything… The reception lives full of young people who arrive in very large groups and as there is no air conditioning, the heat is overwhelming. Conclusion, not staying in that hotel, there are others in the same area a lot better and the same price. No one responds to a time that has already been paid, the customer service is the worst!
People are friendly. Our room was small (sufficient and clean). Breakfast (extra booked) was good. View from the rooftop is great. We specially liked the location. Near the Hauptbahnhof (with parking). It's possible to walk into the old city (Reichstag, Alexanderplatz, Unter den Linden, Brandenburger Tor, Berliner Dom, Fernsehturm usw), but sightseeing tours are starting right before the hotel (Kurfurstendam, Gedachtniskirche, Potsdamer Platz, Gendarmenmarkt, Checkpoint Charlie). Don't forget the beautiful Zoo, enjoy the beachbars (one of them in front of the hotel) and make sure to visit Mauerpark on Sunday's (or one of the other parks, there are many).
This Hotel has no air conditioning in any of the rooms (only floor of 2-3º of the outside temperature) we have been the first weekend of July 2015 with 38º outside, unbearable. The hotel is similar to a shelter, many groups of escoalres, room for 4 people was very small, breakfast poor. You have to make the bed in the top bunk, we have been 2 nights and not have made any day l room or hn changed the towels. One of the cochones was dirty and we ask that we change the one we brought was the same, we ask for change of habotación told us that it was the hotel full, we asked to be moved to another hotel of the chain, and they told us that perderiamos the money that we had paid for this. At breakfast, when you finish you have to leave the table collection. It is a hotel *** is not a hostel. The only thing good is the situation.
To be honest? Schlechtetes Hotel in which I ever used to have. The food was atrocious, the trash bins were on arrival is not cleared and were also in-between is not flushed, the cleaning ladies have only 2 of the four beds in 1 Minute just to cope pushed, towels were-although busy not exist, and the worst — I HAD FLEAS IN MY BED. After home, I am with FLOHBISSEN traveled. Never again! Simply disgusting and not to be recommended, stayed rather be under a bridge, probably, it is also cleaner.
After a long few days travel we were disappointed to be so poorly received. My partner and I have a Eurail pass which claims we get 10% off, free buffet breakfast and Wi-Fi. No one working knew what it was, so after speaking with the manager we managed to get tickets for breakfast, but no discount. The internet is crazy slow, no hot breakfast (eggs, bacon etc) so it's only all-you-can-eat cereal and yoghurt. For €105 in a pretty dreary room we could have stayed somewhere a lot nicer.
First impressions — amazing/perfect location, friendly staff. We then got to the room, where I found cigarette burns/holes in my pillow and blanket, while I also found clumps of hair all over the bed. The room was small, but it had an ensuite, which was spotlessly clean unlike the bedroom which was dirty. Personally, I didn't like the food (breakfast or dinner), however, there were mixed views on it amongst my friends, so I think that was purely personal taste. The fan in the room was incredibly noisy, and I really should have taken sunglasses to protect my eyes from the bright green walls! As said before however, I found the staff friendly, and it was an amazing location being right next to the main train station.
Definitely not recommended! We had for three nights in a room for four persons booked. When we arrived neither the trash can in the room emptied, the bathroom cleaned. Everywhere, there were small hairs distributed and in very cramped living/sleeping area were dust bunnies on the floor. The Mirrors were fingerprints to recognize and under the mattresses we have in the beds of garbage found. Unfortunately, the worst accommodation I have ever had.
Cheap, clean, vivino. A lot of people.
Super location, one is fast at the Brandenburg gate and the Potsdamer Platz. You can reach the public transportation super. For a short stay in Berlin very much to recommend.
I had a terrible experience when I stay at the Meininger Hotel for 5 days in October. I arrived early and the room wasn't ready, so they offered to put my luggage on the storage room. A group of tourist leaving that day had their luggage in the same room and they took mine by mistake. I spent a week in a Berlin with nothing but my wallet and passport. I was very disappointed by the Hotel's attitude towards the incident. The staff rotates from one day to another and every day I had to update each one of them about the incident, which means no one in specific was following the case. These are the remarks of the situation: 1. They put everyone's luggage in a room that they consider "public" and they don't make them selves responsible of any lost. They give you a tag that was completely useless because they don't check who goes in and out of the room. 2. After the luggage was located in Poland, they couldn't even cover the shipping to send the luggage back to me. Their attitude was very rude and I quote "Unfortunately the group refuses to pay for the transport of your bags since they assumed they had the luggage room to themselves and our management also denied the assumption of the costs. We would kindly ask you to get in touch with the contact person in Poland in order to find out about the handling and payment. " In summary I paid around ~400euros to stay there, and the shipping of the luggage costed me 430euros more.
Excellent. Central Berlin location, near the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and the Brandenburg gate. Clean, comfortable rooms and really lovely staff! Have been here twice and will come back again.
Very good hotel. Helpful staff, will help even if you only know the sign language. The rooms are neat and clean. Very good hostel.
LLocation — excellent. The closest hotel to the Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Front desk Reception — most of them were not very nice or friendly. They were just like the staffs at A&O Berlin Hauptbahnhof — pretty rude and inpatient. Hopefully they will be trained to be helpful and courteous soon. The lobby is too small for such brand of hotel/hostel. Room — okay, but small, a bit dusty. Beds were very uncomfortable and felt springs. Shower door couldn't be closed and drainage was stuck when moved in. But they fixed the next day. Towels were so worn out. Breakfast — good price and pretty nice. But very crowded. Free Wi-Fi — it was sooooooo slow that it was absolutely useless throughout the room and lobby. Hopefully they'll be significantly improved in the near future. My advise: Do not stay here IF the free and workable Wi-Fi is important to you. It's really irritating and frustrating to wait for the reasonable reception signal forever! Laundry machine and dryer were broken for two days in a roll. It was fixed and then not really — the dryer. The guy dried for more than two hrs and was still out of order. Gave up lining up at the end.
0 Stars: about heat, dirt and towels This so called hotel did not have towels. When I was about to take a shower I asked at the front desk and the answer I got was just: Sorry we don't have towels anymore, something went wrong. It wasn't the only thing. Air conditioning didn't work so we had a 30°C in our room which was smaller than every hostel I've been to (4 bed around 17 m2 or 170 sqf. ) The room was dirty and when I had to remove the box under my bed to get my phone, it was just filthy with old food and dust from at least 1 year. Or they never gleaned up under the bed since the hotel was opened. You can not lock the box without a additional lock and the box is very difficult to open. Simply don't go there.
Stayed in the 4 bed mixed dorm. The rooms are small, but with nice new furniture, bathrooms are clean, they have a cool bar/downstairs area to hang out (minus all the children running around). The staff is nice overall, there are a couple that are completely unwilling to help, you'll figure out who to avoid quickly. They have a washer/dryer and cheap bicycles to rent (great way to get around Berlin). Extremely affordable considering the location.
A truly massive place that seems to cater mostly to groups and families, hence giving it an anomymous feel. Moreover, the rooms are very clean yet very cramped and the Wi-Fi connection is the worst I've experienced in a long time. On the positive side, the location right next to the main train station and within walking distance of both the Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate is convenient, though.
