Friendly & helpful staff. Great location. Nice modern room. My stay there was amazing.

A nice photo opportunity, at the edge of the touristy area. Very close to the Isartor S-bahn station.

We went around, there was no time to go inside. It's beautiful.

Had a lovely stay there and lots of nice talks with the trainee Daniel. We’re about to come back!

Isartor is one of the four city gates that formed part of the medieval fortifications around the city. It was originally constructed around the end of the 13th century. However what you see today is a reconstruction of the 1830s version of the city gate, which was badly damaged during WWII. Isartor is where visitors would enter Munich from the east. What you find here is a large centre tower linked by two smaller, eight-sided towers by walls with entrances for pedestrians. There is another wall connecting the two smaller towers. This wall includes a nicely restored fresco depicting Emperor Ludwig's triumphal procession after the Battle of Ampfing (1322). You can see the fresco up close from right outside the building. However, we found it easier to take pictures, capturing the three towers as well by crossing the street. Isartor is also the location of the Valentin-Karlstadt Museum. We didn't have time to visit the museum however we did enjoy walking around the viewing Isartor. This is a nicely restored City Gate worth spending a few minutes to see.

It's a beautiful historical place. A very old gate. The mural is a masterpiece.

I guess we didn't come in from the 'view side'. But GPS told us we where there and we assumed it was the building to the right. Sort of underwhelming? Maybe we will try again and see if it has a better view from a different angle.

Unfortunately, I can't say much, but I looked very good and I think I can also visit the whole thing from the inside.

A great place to visit but really interesting if you go in the Karl Valentine museum, however to really appreciate this one needs to speak German and understand the Bavarian dialect.

Interesting building right in the middle of the city, which does not fit anywhere. But looks enough to place at that.

Its just an old town Gate. Nice Coffee upstairs. Entrance "hidden" in the Trainstation. Staff original. In the Valentin Museum. You will find some funny Things Like the amazing iceberg. Its His Gate and some Things are really funny If you understand Karl Valentins humor. Lol.

History is alive here. Valentine and a larder, this is a successful excursion!

Always a lot to experience — lots of people, lots of traffic.

Could only see it from the outside. Is an old Town gate.

The Valentin-Musäum in the gate is great. Unfortunately a lot of traffic around it.

You can find a good burger here, but would be heavy to your pocket too. The burger is very good and size is also large. You have a variety to chose from in both veg and non veg. Recommended, but not as a fast food. The order delivery takes much time and the service is little slow, but the rate 4 is just for the excellent food.

Nice place. Interesting monument. Close to the city centre.

One of the most beautiful places in Munich, fantastic city and only to discover on foot.

It is one of the doors that still remain in the foot of the fortification that surrounded the city of Munich. It consists of three towers, two more petite in the front and a higher in the back (looking at the door from outside the fortification). It also preserves some frescoes inside the door (between the three towers).

From here to the Jabber stretches practically the main shopping area in the city center. Almost on the way is the well-known and very where to go Müncher Viktualienmarkt.

The ancient city gates are of a very monumental kind.

Ordinary S-Bahn station and easy access to tram and bus, the German museum and thus the Isar and the old town are all in the immediate vicinity.

Think of it in the winter from the first weekend of Advent to the 6th 01. Here you can find the best fire tongs punch. But even under the year there is also a great opportunity to enjoy a coffee and cake. Namely in the tower in Karl Valentin Musäum. But also to the meeting point and to explore the city a good starting point.

One of my favorite S Bahn stations. The towel has a history being the only medieval gate in Munich, I guess dating from 13th/14th century. As most of the town was ruined during the WW II the gate was also damaged and rebuilt. The place is nice to visit if you are touring the city. Clean and quite near to Marienplatz. The gate itself has a museum, worth visiting.

Super —… down to the miserable fire-tongs Bowl.

Beautiful and quaint historic locale in the centre of Munich with a wide range of courses and prices in line with the local type.

Nice medieval re-constructed gate at the entrance of the Munich old town. Music, party and crowded atmosphere, street food (i. E sausages, steaks e. T. C), traditional beers and drinks at the outdoor space (good for smokers) of the gate. It's ok for a quick drink.

It is one of the few gates, which once were a part of a historical city wall, surrounding the city. It's worth visiting, especially in December, when a giant Feuerzangenbowle is installed right in the middle of the gate and you can enjoy this tasty and unforgettable drink!

From the first Advent Weekend to 6.01, the largest fire-tongs bowl is held here every year. Very cozy. A mini Christmas market with good food and sweets invites you to have a drink after work.
For people who don't drink a fire-tongs bowl, there is also beer and mulled wine on a side stand.

Beautiful place. Going to Munich is not seeing it. It's a shame.

The Isartor is an old city gate of Munich. Well located, you come to the old town and for example to the Viktualienmarkt.

Fire Tongs Bowl under the Isartor tastes excellent. But you'd better eat somewhere else.

As part of the big city extension by Ludwig Bayern, 1285 to 1347 a second city wall was built, in which the Isartor was created as the last town gate. With the Isartor, the fortifications were completed for the necessary defense of the "outer city", as the city extension was called.
The 1337 completed gate consisted of an approx. 40 m high Torturem. Only during the construction of the kennel wall were the two flanking Steitentürme as a barbican.
The Isartor is almost completely intact. The only one of the Munich city gates today still owns the main tower, which towers over the entire complex as a central tower. The flank towers and the Mauerhof between the main tower and flank towers are also preserved. The wall between the flank towers today has three equal Toreingänge instead of the original large arch with two smaller side entrances. In the eastern part of the Mauerhofs there is a balustrade to the courtyard.

The Isartor was constructed in 1337 within the scope of the enlargement of Munich and the construction of the second city wall between 1285 and 1337 which was completed under the Emperor Louis IV. The gate first consisted of a 40 meter high main gate tower. The Isartor is today the only medieval gate in Munich.

Very nice and well preserved city gate. Houses the Karl Valentin and Liesl Karlstadtmuseum. In winter there is the biggest fire-tongs bowl in the world. S-Bahn station… On the side to the old Town ring is a very nice fresco. A clock tower is mirror-wrong!

A nice and clean garden where you can relax during a walk. Cared for and well maintained.

Worth taking a walking tour with free Munich, Munich has so much history. Got to love it.

Not the best place to hang out, … extremely touristic during the day, few decent locals at night… take care of your belongings.

Beautiful to see. Not much beside shop and restaurant recommend to move on in the summer to the English garden grab a beer and enjoy.

Had to wait for my group (bus driver) and therefore unfortunately could not do anything.

It's not really the old gate — it's totally renovated. And from the city side, there is no good view… from the other side the gate looks nice except for the tons of traffic. There is not really a place to "hang" around Isartor either. Take a photo and move on. Therefore three stars.

Very convenient for the S-Bahn, Deutsches Museum, Marianeplatz and many good bars and restaurants. A good welcome and good service, rooms a little dated but clean and quiet.

Ok can gaite of yoga in.

Great, a great tourist attraction.

Good place in 2 steps from the Centre and only 60 metres from the metro. Perfect if you come from the airport. The train will sarica practically INSIDE the hotel. Rooms spotless and spacious bathrooms. Absolutely above the standards for a "simple" 3 stars. Possibility of sauna (but you need to notify beforehand). They have a very small gym but there is only a few treadmills, exercise bikes and a few free weights. No machines talking benches. Breakfast good but incredibly salty, almost exclusively croissants and pastries. Very good staff. In the hotel you can buy tickets for train, subway and the airport.

Central to the Isartor in Munich city centre location, clean hotel with functional furnishings (large room, but unfortunately little cozy). The staff is very friendly, breakfast is rich. Wi-Fi is free of charge. Recommended.

Basic rooms. Clean bathroom. Breakfast terrible. No hot food. Only Cereal and yoghurt. No hot drinks. Had to go elsewhere. Only 10 min walk from Marienplatz so very central. Only English channel is Chinese TV (?! ) Bedding not very comfy.

The Hotel is located directly in the city centre (less than 5 minutes. Walk to Marienplatz). Rooms are fine (with a balcony), however, high volume by road, and into the shower-tub to go, you need something agile. Breakfast is ok. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Room was for two persons reserved in advance => are but four beds have been furbished and this, unfortunately at the expense of the Sofas — too expensive for an Overnight stay in relation to the offer — Breakfast catastrophic => Buffet was almost always empty and it was only at the request of the guests filled up again and when that has been populated then only four rolls at once in about 20 answesenden guests! + Location is Central + Staff is friendly.

Very pleasant and friendly. Rooms clean, Breakfast perfect. Parking next door for € 12 per day.

Reserve the hotel as it was central and promised a lot. Upon arrival we check how old-fashioned of the facility, with room left much to be desired from a 3 star hotel. The shower was not working, there was no air conditioning and, at night, when you open the window to not drown, you would wake up the tram passing by a few meters. The reception staff is lousy and only some speak something more than the German. Presumed to have parking, and they do, just that in a private parking next to the hotel that has opening hours. We had to take the car outside of these hours and we found the reception staff only spoke in German. After getting to understand the us said that there was no possibility to get the car out until 8 in the morning (we needed 6 and it was 5:45). At the end came to a head that said, " yes that is I could get one but I did not know that he had to wait for a partner who knew the procedure. Promise a hearty breakfast, and is, anything but that. Too paid for this hotel and we will not return.
