We booked a room to escape Barcelona’s Sant Joan fireworks with our elderly dog. Following an upcoming heatwave in south of France, we asked to cancel the reservation. Of all the bookings we had to cancel (trains, other hotels in Narbonne etc. ) this hotel was the only one who insisted again and again to keep 100% of the money, knowing it makes no sense to travel at 40° heat, especially when our dog has health issues.
We cancelled the moment we knew about the heatwave, and even that was a few days after booking, but the owner refused any slightest refund with the claim that we “blocked other potential reservations” (in 40°, yes? ).
For this heart of stone and zero sensitivity, I would’ve given zero stars if I could.
