I am a big fan of Radisson hotels as they always are good value for money, and this one didn't disappoint. The lobby area is open and modern, and the room was great, nice and spacious, and very modern, the first hotel I have stayed in with a 3D TV (and the accompanying glasses), and it also had a TV built into the bathroom mirror — perfect for catching up on bbc news whilst going about my business. The hotel is well located just off the central station square, a 5 minute walk into the centre of Helsinki and the main shopping street. We pad an extra 30 euros to upgrade to a 'business class' room, the main perk of this, in this hotel and any Radisson I have stayed in, is the club deck between 5-7pm where complimentary drinks and nibbles are served, well worth it for the 2 of us considering you can pay 30 euros for 2 drinks in Helsinki! We also ate in the hotel restaurant — Kitzens, I highly recommend this whether you stay in the hotel or not. It sells itself on not really fitting into one category, it has about 10 different types of cuisine — grill, tiki, Asian, and street food are all categories on the vast menus which must have in excess of 60 dishes. This usually puts me off, I like restaurants to concentrate on a small number of dishes and do them really well, but the food was incredible, and the restaurant, as with the hotel, has a modern feel to it — you can even wirelessly charge your mobile at the table if your phone is capable. I must also give a special mention to the breakfast, good selection of cooked food, omelettes etc, with continental options as well as fruits and cereals, set me up nicely for the day! My one issue, the staff can be a bit cold. All in all, this is the perfect hotel to base yourself for a stay in Helsinki.
