We were looking forward for a relaxing time, but the adult pool was under maintenance with no prior notice. Very hard to choose restaurants for breakfast, because every staff we ask have different answers (buffet or not, adult only or not). Making dinner reservations are disappointing, because the information center is not functioning. I went to the center, and the staff made me call the restaurant. And the staff was chatting with her colleague. 80% of the guests are family with small children, so if you are looking for a relaxing time, better to chill elsewhere.

5 Stars for Service, The Fijian Native People are the most Humble, loveliest, Nicest, Genuine People. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Not just limited to hotels or resorts because you think they have too. We hired a driver and went off the beaten track to a lot of little villages, ate at their stalls, sat and drank Kava, listened to their stories, exchanged gifts, we wouldn't of got that kind of deep immersion if we didn't step outside the square. The Resort itself is great for families with children, it's set up to cater for families. Adults looking to enjoy a place with less children should steer clear and look for a different resort or hotel, but in saying that if you don't mind it's a great place to stay. The beaches, weather, and the native Fijian people are all wonderful.

Overall the stay was wonderful, except for the fact that my room did not have any door latch and my 2 year old could open the main hotel room door and run out by himself while I was in the restroom. Thankful for another hotel guest who knocked on our door and asked if the boy running around outside was my kid. Would advise on good old door latches for the sake of families with young kids. Other than that we booked 3 rooms but only one was avail at point of check in. The other two were only available after 7pm which we thought was not exactly acceptable for a reputable brand like shangri-la. The pipe outside our room was leaking and we had a water curtain blocking us from entering the room door whenever we returned and someone upstairs was showering. Bed was very comfortable and a cot was provided for my boy.

Great location, superb beach. You can easily spend couple of days in the resort without being bored. Friendly hotel staff, not so friendly restaurant staff. But I have to say the food was exceptional. The best Kokonda what I ever eat. Even if you not staying here, I recommend to visit thus resort for a lunch. Could be 5 star if the beach bar and grill waiting staff has a bit more attention.

Beautiful place, beautiful people and a large range of activities to suit everybody. Meals were good and service excellent. The rooms were spacious and helped having the inter connecting door between rooms. The pool was our favourite place and especially 'happy hour'! All in all we had a great time.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. We had our little baby with us during the stay and we received excellent service from all staff around the resort. We were even allowed to have a room service for our dinner meal one of the nights — which wasn't allowed as I was part of a workshop group during that time and meals were all buffet. We had a great stay. The staff were very friendly and provided great service. We did have to wait 24 hours to obtain a pram (made a request the day we arrived, but it was lost/forgotten) — which made the first afternoon/evening tricky with a 4 month old baby. The pram was also very dirty and we spent some time cleaning it so we could put our child in it. We also struggled to comprehend the price of the food. It was very expensive. We felt it wasn't worth the price and ended up eating a few meals outside of the resort in order to save money. Overall, we did enjoy our stay. Looking forward to seeing the finished renovations.

Overall very pleasant experience. Points to improve: — Room wasn't very clean — Buffet was a big disappointment $60-$70 is way to much for what is offered — Breakfast was alright but could be much better. Breads weren't fresh everyday. And even the fresh ones were poorly backed — most of the staff around the complex were very friendly. Unfortunately some of the female staff on the restaurants didn't look friendly. It looked like they didn't want to be there or weren't happy to be there — The kids club needs a massive revamp. No toys, only few books.

I loved every minute of my stay. Everyone was extremely helpful and pleasant. Our room was great the bed lovely and comfortable. Both restaurants we ate at were very good. We were there with my 2daughters and their husbands plus our 20 yr old grand daughter and our 3 yr old granddaughter who had a ball dancing and swimming.

Very good amenities but the food and drinks were too expensive. There wasn’t enough time in happy hour or advertising for when this was, more adult activities during the kids club hours would’ve been great, I didnt have a partner with me so didn’t get a chance to do the activities after 9. Things didn’t always run to time and some of timetables contradicted each other so when I had planned to go to an activity it wasn’t on or I was late because the timetables didn’t corroborate with one another. Over all experience was very good small things as mentioned above would’ve made the trip perfection. Staff were fantastic.

Our experience was simply amazing. All the staff are sincerely welcoming and happy and friendly. The facility was perfect. Our ocean view was a dream to wake up to daily. We were pleasantly surprised to find our room had housekeeping service daily. We’ve not had that anywhere else before. The restaurant and cafe choices were good. Resort meal prices were a bit steep, but we ate such large breakfast serves (as part of our package) that we got away with not being hungry again til mid afternoon or dinner time. Since we ventured off the resort to explore Fiji a couple of times, we made the most of this time to grab cheap beers and food. (and support the locals too) We can’t wait to come back!

We received early check in and late check out, which was wonderful. Our room was perfect for us, it was a great location for our needs, and had a great view. We were not expecting so many kids and babies, so adult only pool was a good option. Since the Lagoon pool seems to be set up to handle kids and activity, it would be nicer if the Coral pool was also adult only since it has the beautiful view. You would expect the atmosphere to be more serene. It should at least have restrictions on the use of kids pool toys, or jumping into the pool (not even deep enough for it). Allow staff to enforce the posted pool policies of climbing on the infinity wall, and no food or drink in the pool. All this would allow for the peaceful vacation expected.

This was our 11th visit in 6 years. We keep coming back here because we love the place. We have brought our children and grandchildren. I think the thing that what differentiates this place form the other resorts in Fiji is that the staff are genuinely interested in doing all they can to make you welcome. We can tell the difference from fake hospitality because we see a lot of it but this is the one place where we feel most welcome. The greenery and the location are of course spectacular.

Great resort and holiday. Loved everything about it — the layout, the pool, the natural beauty. Could just tweak a couple of minor things. I. E. Need a deadlock on patio door (to prevent toddlers leaving the room) on ground floor. Some restaurants/spa were booked out unless you booked well ahead (understand it was peak season). Given the heat a cold drink on arrival would be nice. Staff were lovely and helpful. Needed a bigger bin in the room. Shades over the kids club playground so kids can use it on hot days.

Cons: Hotel needs updating, there are some parts already in the works. Breakfast buffet is average. Limited restaurant selection. Very average restaurants as well save for the Italian one. Pros: Lots of activities within the resort, really soft white sand and clear water. Three nice pools including an adult only one. Staff are very nice.

The place is a good for spending time with family. They have a floating castle in ocean. We have swim to it with the life jacket on. Best thing to experience. Food is good. Breakfast was awesome. We had a reef view room so the morning was just mesmerizing. There are very less number of people even on weekends. Peaceful place.

Always loved this resort as a child and it would take a lot to change that feeling of comfort. Beautiful location, friendly staff, beautiful beach and pools, great dining and food and lots to do and experience.

My wife, myself and our three children visited the Fijian for the first part of our Fiji holiday. After a long day of travel we slept soundly and woke to the sound of waves. The lovely breakfast buffet was eaten on the terrace right next to the "Don't feed the fish" sign. A highlight of the visit for my son was playing touch rugby with the Natadola team, my daughters enjoyed the volleyball and we all loved the snorkeling and water sports. Drinking Kava for the first time was an experience! We'll be back!

Amazing room, excellent facilities and amenities. The staff are always smiling and friendly. Had an awesome time. Definitely recommend this resort.

Awesome resort, extremely family orientated atmosphere, friendly staff even though the resort has construction being carried out it is that big that you do not notice too much.

Our family of 5 stayed at the Shangri-La for 9 nights from the 13th of September 2017. We would like to thank all of the Shangri-La staff who made our stay as enjoyable as it was. We particularly loved the snorkelling and water activities. The water park was tremendous and staffed by very knowledgeable staff. Our kids loved the food at all the restaurants while we adults particularly enjoyed the Beach Bar & Grill and the friendly service of our lovely friend Ulawesse. We had such a tremendous time and will be sure to return next year. A big thank you to Jai who arranged the poolside sporting activities for the kids, all of the staff were simply tremendous. Thanks once again.

Vinaka vakalevu shangri-la. Hope we can come back!

This was our 4 th time to Shangra la resort. We first came 7 years ago with our teenage girls for a friends wedding. Each time we have been impressed! Coming from a tourist town (Cairns), we know how important "first impressions" matter! We will continue to come here as not only are we made to feel welcome each time but value for money is gaurenteed. Although we don't know the staff personally they have a uniqueness in their culture to make your visit comfortable & memorable! I love coming here for holidays cause I know I will always enjoy Fiji & the Shangra la! Vinaka Guys.

What ever has happened since our last has been dramatic the service has been terrible the staff are not as friendly. In need of new management skills in hospitality and this being our third visit we will not be returning.

Even they have underconstruction site but I really like the place. Fabulous view, good atmosphere, great service and yummy food! Lots of activities espeacially for family trip.

It was a wonderful place especially staff near pool area and activity organisers. Service was wonderful and look forward to our next stay there.

It's a beautiful place to relax and enjoy your vacation. I just love this resort.

We booked 3 rooms six months in advance specifically requested ground level as we had toddlers. We turned up with rooms on the 3rd level. Missed the first day swimming as our bags didn't turn up to our room for about 3 hours. When we were leaving our bags never got to the lobby, we ended up getting them ourselves, so that we didn't miss a flight. The decor is tired but the team running the show seems vacant.

Excellent food, frendily staff and lots to do. Strongly suggestdinning at BBG restaurant.

We had such a fun filled time here with activities for kids and the food was really great! The staff were very accommodating always smiling, loved their singing too! Recommend to anyone!

The place is tired and worn out — definitely not a five star resort. The location is nice, with a good beach, views and pools & the rooms are satisfactory. The food is really, really bad, and they charge like it's Sydney or Auckland's top restaurant. Expect to pay $30 for pasta and $70 for steak. AND, it will be terrible, borderline inedible. When you're looking forward to the flight home so you can get some airplane food, you know it's no-good. Overall I cam away feeling ripped off — it's satisfactory if you get an amazing deal, but for their prices you can do A LOT better elsewhere.

Stayed here last year and the staff were always smiling and helpful. Food is high quality and there is always plenty of choice. The views from most rooms are breathtaking. Definitely check out the local shark dives if you get a chance.

Recently stayed there for xmas 2015… Whilst the stay was relaxing, the resort is looking tired. The rooms need a freshen up, the cleaners some days didnt bother showing up… We had to chase them for clean towels. The food is SOOOOOO EXPENSIVE its not funny! The food was below average considering the prices they charge. One night we waited 2 hours for our entrees! And the power cut off before the food came! We paid for a buffett of tradition roasts, seafood and chinese… But no seafood or chinese on display but still charged the same! We heard through a local that the shangri la was purchased by a chinese business and they saked all the GOOD local chefs and staff that worked there and replaced them with cheaper less experiences staff… and upper the prices! There are soo many nice resorts in fiji, we wont stay here again. Do your research before you book into this resort.

Excellent service, facilities and cleanliness. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Kids activities are great. 'Ace' was awesome with the kids. Buffet meals were adequate but repetitive with little change in menu and were quite expensive. Drinks were expensive unless you drank beer. Shops were expensive.

I was less than convinced withe the Shangri-La. Food was terrible unfortunately and after a week of rain out room smelt damp. Housekeeping was late with cleaning the room, turn down service knocked at 9pm one night when kids were already fast asleep. There is a lot of walking involved as the resort is big which can be annoying if you want to run a little errant. Bar close to room closed at 6pm, sunset bar by the beach at 8pm. The only other venue had TV on and was not inviting at all.

Resort is a bit tired. Food is average, rooms are of a good size but not cleaned properly and they seem to have constant hot water problems. Having said that it caters to kids well and is in a gorgeous location. Can't fault the staff for friendliness either.
