Staff are lovely. But. Bed linens weren’t changed when sign was left instructing to do so. Noisy guests wake you up slamming doors and talking loudly after midnight. I know it’s hard Post COVID but standards seem to be slipping. Want to support you but I lost some sleep…

We’ve just stayed as a family for 7 nights. We arrived to what seemed like skeleton staff on Boxing Day. Absolutely no pool furniture and pool is freeeezing. No cocktail menu available at the bar. The bar menu is terrible and we ordered the same thing twice but one was half the size. Staff friendly but don’t seem to be able to make a decision without checking with someone else. Room service staff/cleaners are excellent and rooms are fine. I would not consider this to be a 4 star hotel — it’s a 3 at best. Unfortunately I wouldn’t stay here again — there are plenty of other options in Nelson.

Well worth spending a few extra dollars. Clean and Air-conditioned. Loads of room to move around in the room. Pillow menu and loads of extras if you want them.

Amazing service and venue. The food was amazing highly recommend.

After 5 weeks in lockdown. It was so great to order some great restaurant quality food for a take away meal. Great to have a night off cooking. Thanks to the hard working team at Rutherford in this unprecedented time.

Kia ora I loved the venue where the FOMA Conference 2019 was held, was lovely and the free Wi fi well im not complaining cause when I went live it was fab and in good working order for me. And the hosting and waitresses and chiefs were awesome thank yous some much. And big mihi to the orgainisers for FOMA Karlene Everitt and her crew yous rock sister.

The dinners at the Oceana were really nice eating.
Our room was very clean and a good layout. Bathroom was all tiled and spotless.

Arrived 3.50 pm and room not available, guy who booked us in not forthcoming about parking. Trying to use laundry they have2 washers and 2 dryers for whole hotel, not enough by far.

Really loved the place and warm service. Couldn’t fault anything about our stay and would surely come back. The food was wonderful, the rooms were specious and well attended to. Most importantly we were here for my wife’s birthday and I was so painful to the hotel seeking help in putting together a surprise for her. All staff including the GM — Alexander were patient and helpful in making the experience an amazing one. Of course everything came with a price and there were the tiny things but the friendly, invested effort is highly commendable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Nelson. The location is central, easy for exploring city center and vicinity. Big thank you to Rutherford Hotel!

I was invited to attend a meeting as part of a review committee in one of the lounges and was told that snacks and refreshments would be provided. The refreshments consisted of one cup of coffee which was Luke warm and a small quiche and chocolate brownie. Not exactly what I would call refreshments. However, other than that the venue was pleasant enough.

Attended for a conference. Food was pretty nice. The rooms were discord and clean with a large King and a second bed too. It's next to the jeweler who made the rings for the Lord of the Rings movies. Convenient to cathedral, restaurants and shops.

I had my school ball function here and the venue was lovely. But the things that made my experience a little unpleasant was the security, who were quite intense and they bag checked me and my friend thoroughly, it’s a high school ball not a festival and they were not very negotiable at all. And we weren’t allowed to go into the foyer at all during the event, which made me feel unwelcome. Then the real disappointment was the food. My mum who is a caterer said the food was an obvious rip off, 25$ a head and all we got were wedges, sausage rolls, pizza and a couple of crappy salads. If you work out the total that’s around 5000$. Appalling. And we were not allowed to hire an outside caterer. Would not recommend as a ball venue.

Have spent the day at Conference. Very nice venue. Toilets are very upmarket and clean. Lunch was to die for. I would give 10/10.

Pretty good place for our conference. Other than the fact that they often had the room far too cold. Staff, facilities and food all good.

Good was real nice and cheap. The vanilla latte was the best I've ever tasted.

Had a huge buffet dinner party for an 80th Birthday bash! Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. The barmen/women knew what they were doing and went out of their way to get what you wanted.

Smile upon arrival as expected. The room was not as expected, after stay in the Queenestown botel of the same group which was excellent we expect more of the same. The room in Nelson is tired and has seen better days, like the front desk staff stated it's from 1975, the room has dirty bed head boards and slashes to the privacy curtains, the room floor is not level. The room is just worn and grubby. Rather disappointed.

Lovely hotel with very polite staff. Room service fish burger really good value. Really clean room and comfy bed. Only downside is some aspects of the decor are slightly dated. Otherwise great.

Great service, comfortable bed, great food and very well done drinks menu. Very close to shops. Ten years ago it was just average. Today tops.

Centrally located. 2 minutes walk to street cafes, restaurants and shopping area.

Breakfast was okay, the room service menu was very limited and the lasagna did not taste good at all, it tasted like cornbeef was used. The japanese restaurant was very nice. The location was very good, walking distance from town and loads of restaurants. Not close to the beach of thats what your looking for. Laundry facilities are available for you to use. We had a suite that was lovely.

I'm perplexed by this place. Gentleman on the counter was extremely rude. Acted with an upturned nose and made me pay for the room at check in. I was in by work clothes (dress shirt) so I'm not sure what he had an issue with. Anyway I was horrified by the quality of the rooms. The bathroom was recently refurbished which was nice but the room looked like it hadn't been fitted since the 70s. Hated to imagine how many people had been in the room. Anyway I had no further problems other than the guy at check in. At checkout the gentleman thought it strange I had already paid. Go figure…

It is a quaint place. Stuck maybe in the 70s. The restaurant food is good. Wi-Fi means extra charges. Old fashioned gym.

An elegant hotel with a good chef. Delightful staff and great service.

Miyazu restaurant is it's only saving grace in my opinion. Plenty of much cheaper and better rooms to be found elsewhere. Management is a bit lacklustre.

Very fancy upmarket hotel. The restaurants are amazing, but on the very expensive side! I was there for a conference so not sure about the rooms. The service is exceptional and all diets are catered for.

All the staff are great, friendly and helpful. The hotel has great facilities and in a very central location. I was lucky enough to have a room looking out onto the beautiful church. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable at a very reasonable rate. I will be staying here again next time I'm in Nelson without a doubt.

I stayed here years back and mostly recently for a conference, the day core is a little dated, but the staff are friendly and helpful.

Supermarket. Has conference rooms. Price is reasonable.
Has room service where the menu can be changed with request. The staff call you by sir it's amazing. The staff are very loyal and yet obligingly helpful. House keeping is precise and prompt. Restaurants has set menu don't do special request (limited chicken menu) basically no chicken.!
Question on will I stay here again… wife says yes. So for me I say YES.

Great hotel. Receptionist Phoebe was very kind. It was clean and had everything we needed. Also the soap, body scrub and the shampoo was from their spa which was very good quality. I had a great stay overall.

I love this place it made me feeling like our home also nice and friendly staff. I wish to be back to Nelson and stay here again.

The room is large and clean. However, the Wifi usage with only 1000 mb free underground is little. Since I was already in much worse hotels with free Wi-Fi without restriction.
Breakfast was the worst on my trip. Small selection, worst coffee (brown water hits it well), and the service is also not particularly attentive.

Great rooms and service though it's reflected in the price.

Bed was unsurportive and rolled you into middle, pillows were hard! we got woken up before 7am by builders working on the hotel with out being warned! just wouldnt recommend it!

Location was beyond perfect with a 1 minute walk to great restaurants and pubs. Shops just around the corner and the tourist center just North of the church was very helpful with booking excursions and directions. The hotel itself was lovely, clean and newly decorated. House cleaning was prompt and thorough and the little extras (shampoo, body scrubs etc) made for a luxurious stay in comparison to many of the hotels we stayed at in NZ. The church bells will go off for 10 minutes on Sunday mornings and it was a nice wake up call instead of an alarm. The only caveat; watch your internet limits. The total was a big surprise at check out. Otherwise great stay!
