Biohostal Mindo Cloud Forest

I have stayed here twice both by myself and in a large group and had a great stay both times. The staff there are extremely friendly and accommodating even on short notice. Paying a couple extra dollars for the breakfast on the 3rd floor is definitely worth it and you can enjoy hummingbirds and tanagers eating on the balcony alongside you. The view from the roof is stunning as you can see almost the whole valley and I have even spotted toucans from the roof there.

Of all the visits I have made to Mindo this was the best in terms of accommodation. Great location. Great price. Great owner. Couldn’t have been better. Room was great. Terrific open spaces to sit and relax. Wonderful breakfast. I would highly, highly recommend you stay here. I certainly will on my next rip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mindo Biohostel. Nice and clean, spacious room, friendly hosts and fantastic breakfast. There are feeders out on the balcony where you eat breakfast. You can watch humming birds and we even saw a toucan! No need for an expensive tour if you stay here because you see it all whilst eating your breakfast! A little more expensive than some options but definitely worth the money in comparison to the cheaper places to stay here. Would highly recommend!

In the mornings we enjoyed our breakfast in this beautifully decorated place while watching the hummingbirds. The hosts were super friendly and made us feel at home.

Fabulous place to stay at a very low price! Hosts were wonderful, friendly, personable, and willing to give recommendations about a variety of topics — dinner, hikes, taxis, massage therapists, etc.
Rooms were generously sized, clean, and comfortable. And, ours included a balcony. Next day laundry service is available, a plus. Breakfast is included, and includes a variety of options, not to mention the excellent coffee w/ real milk (not powdered creamer) 🤗.
Quiet, peaceful days can be spent in a variety of hammocks for rest and relaxation. Multitudes of birds and hummingbirds to observe.
Great location, just about a block from town square/park. Surrounded by a variety of coffee shops, restaurants, bars and discos.

Stayed 3 nights at Bio Hostal Mindo. Comfortable hostal with delicious choice options for breakfast, laundry services available, and a fabulous staff that is willing to share recommendations. Situated a short distance from the central square, with many food choices available, and a ton of coffee shops 🤗. Definitely a good value for the money.

I felt completely at home with Luis and Esperanza my hosts.
The space was very comfortable and the dining space open to the trees and the hummingbirds.
I felt relaxed with the easy going energy and highly recommend it to people who like a casual and nature based feeling.
I’m going back whenever I’m in Mindo. I love Mindo!

Great place to stay in mindo next to the bioreserve. The veranda is a great place to view the birds at the feeders and relax. Closer location to the town center. The hosts are super friendly and helpful.

Having stayed at the majority of Mindo's <$30 hostals and hotels, I can say with some confidence that Biohostal is your best option. As the name suggests, the hostal brings you closer to nature, whilst ensuring a comfortable nights sleep in generously sized rooms, — all for such a reasonable price.
Breakfasts accompanied by a range of humming birds, hammock afternoons overlooking the valley from the terrace, this place has many points of beauty. On top of that the Ecuadorian owners are always cheerful, helpful and accomodating.
Situated just off the town centre, you are never far from convinience and yet always in peace and nature. I couldn't recommend Biohostal more.

A truely magical hostel, where you can enjoy the company of hundreds of hummingbirds, and many other spieces of birds while having breakfast. And have a view of the whole village from the mirador-like top floor. Esperansa, the owner welcomed us with kindness, and treated us with the nicest local coffee. We had a perfect time here, our room was comfortable and very fairly priced. I can only recommend.

Absolutely beautiful hostel, felt really safe here. The owner was so kind and helpful for us at all hours of the day, booking tours and helping with anything we needed, and the included breakfast was really delicious. Hummingbirds everywhere by the open sided dining room. Perfect place to stay. Was off season so not many other guests for atmosphere but did not effect our enjoyment of the hostel :) would definitely stay again.

What a lovely place to stay! Having breakfast with the hummingbirds was amazing. Luis and Esperanza were so friendly and helpful. They made us a delicious breakfast every day. It was extra but worth it. Close to the centre of town and easy to get everywhere. A 4km walk to el jardín de mariposas was very worthwhile. Luis was kind enough to arrange for a taxi to pick us up there. Highly recommend staying here.
